Aria, the great continent of the world terra, a world much like the real earth, there are cities, small towns, rural lands, you name it. The only main differance between the two are their land masses and the fact that terra has a presence of actual magic, though this is rather rare.... or at least.... it was...

It was an average day, people all across aria, the largest continent in the world, were simply going about their day, there wasn't a sign that anything could possibly go wrong. That night, nearly everyone was asleep, though the private mega corporation "Altor" was working on something, they wished to take advantage of the magic in the world for their own gain. Something goes wrong, nobody knows what, but the consequences shake the continent, literally, a massive wave of mysterious energy blasted across the world changing hundreds of the people across aria. Changes that made them magic sensitive.

The next morning people were waking up with magic and ESP related abilities, though some took this well many others were in panic, not knowing what to do. Altor sends out a PSA inviting anyone effected by the "strange phenomenon"  to a special conference ment to help people cope. These promises.... were nothing but lies... the conference was an ambush, they captured countless people tortured them, broke them... molded them into willess husks. These people were dubbed warlocks.... those that remained were called "Witches" and were hunted down to be captured as well.... altor wanted an army... and they were getting it. Through some incredibly persuasive campaigning they grew political support and gained control over most of Aria.

At this point most witches that were still free were under the protection of a secret organization called "the railroad". The railroad was run by people who used magic before the accident, these people are called "mages". Other than these people in the railroad's protection few others managed outside on their own, few people assisted them because altor managed to convinced the populace that "Witches" were borderline criminals, and that anyone harboring them would be punished, but if anyone gave information on them, they'd be rewarded. This led to friends and family selling each other out. Society grew bitter and untrusting.

The more time passes, the bleaker things get and the less hope seems to be left. However, perhaps it's not the end of the world quite yet.... perhaps alongside the railroad.... YOU could make a differance....
