Chapter 10

*Time Skip*

A knock on the door signalled the young redhead from above. She came down the steps and ran to the front. Opening up the entrance, the female warrior saw two guys and a blonde waiting to be invited inside.

"Hey kids, set your stuff upstairs. Girls on the left, boys on the right." Savannah greeted and guided the Rangers.

The three of them walked into the house, carrying their bags along as well. Orion turned to Vanni to say, "thanks for letting us crash here, your house is nice."

"Eh, Kent figured out where Jake lived, no doubt he knows where you guys are. Luckily, this place vanishes at night so he won't be able to find us." Savannah counteracted.

"Vanishes?" Orion questioned suspiciously, "what do you mean vanish-"

"Yes you got Terminator!" Jake shouted from upstairs, making the two of them pause mid-conversation.

They looked up and while Orion chuckled, the wealthy teen shook her head. Troy helped Emma carry a few of her bags inside since she was injured. Noah was right behind them with his own belongings. He whistled at the look of the house.

"Wow," Noah said, "this is huge, I'm surprised if you'd want to move out."

"Eh Carla and Daniel aren't so bad." Savannah replied as she closed the door.

"Carla and Daniel?" Emma asked.

"Yep." Savannah responded back.

"You call your parents by their first names?" Troy inquired.

"Once I turned eighteen, they gave me full permission to say their names. They don't find it rude or offensive compared to other people. It's about how you say it." Savannah answered.

Troy gave her a look before heading upstairs to help Emma with her items. Noah and Orion did the same. The young redhead watched them go. Once completely gone, she walked over to the window that was seventy four feet away from the entrance. Savannah sat down on the cushions and peered out of the window.
Her mind wandered. Though she took a bit of a liking to the team, living with a bunch of seniors was not something she thought would happen. They're like any other teenagers, only with the responsibility of saving the world from destructive forces. How they were going to graduate boggled her brain. It wasn't like they could tell the truth about what has been happening, which is why she understood any stress they had.

"You know I've heard about these, what are they called?" A voice asked, making the female warrior turn her head to see.

She replied, "bay windows, and shouldn't you be unpacking?"

"Eh, I do it later, I really don't have a lot of stuff." He answered her question.

Savannah nodded as Orion walked over to sit beside her. He glanced out of the window quickly before he started to speak, "it's nice."

"I've always liked them, It's a bed close to the outside world," Savannah told him. Orion smiled, "my father used to have me in his lap when I was little and sat in the bay window. We both liked seeing the stars, the moon, and hearing the owls."

"Is your father...?" Orion quizzed, hesitating on asking. Vanni nodded, "I'm sorry."

"Don't sympathize me, I've heard that plenty of times," Savannah retorted, "he taught me a few things before he passed. I was only four at the time but, it never left my mind. World doesn't hand you stuff on a silver platter, you have to learn how to survive on your own."

"Yeah I've learned that too," Orion said, relating to her a little, "a lot of people I knew or loved died. As much as I want to rebuild my planet, it would only be just me. No one else is left. Why live alone when I can stay here with people who love me and start a new family?"

Savannah looked down for a moment before continuing to speak, "sometimes I wonder if I remember what that feels like."

"What?" Orion queried.

"Love. I don't know if I can feel that anymore," Savannah admitted, inwardly scolding herself for opening up that fact, "my family is not ideal and sometimes...I wonder what my life would be like if they weren't part of it."

Orion took a second to process what she was saying. He gave her a sympathetic look, despite her wishes, and replied saying, "Well, I can tell you that I didn't think I would ever feel love again either after what happened to my family. I had so much, hatred and vengeance inside of me that I couldn't focus on anything else but killing the Armada," a smile slowly reached his face as he continued, "but, then I met those guys and we became close. They helped me see that vengeance can turn into a dangerous enemy and make you do something you'll regret. It sounded crazy to me at first until I realized it for myself."

"What does that have to do with me?" Savannah asked.

"I'm saying they gave me the chance to love again and have a new start. We can help you too." Orion clarified for her.

Savannah was about to reply, but was interrupted by someone upstairs. He shouted in question form, "hey Savannah, where's the bathroom?!"

"Down the hall!" Vanni responded.

"K, thanks!" Jake hollered back.

Orion chuckled a little and said, "thank god you established that, no bathroom spells trouble for us four."

"Four?" Savannah inquired.

"The girls are fine, Noah and Troy aren't so bad, but it's mainly Jake and I. I still have a few things to learn." Orion answered.

Savannah nodded slowly, mentally preparing herself for what's to come. She looked back at the alien and spoke, "okay look, that's sweet and all, but I didn't ask for a family. You guys, me...we're on the same mission. This is just a friendly gesture, so, don't expect any perks from me."

Orion wanted to rebuttal, but could not say much considering he was not aware of what she had been through previously. He only looked down for a couple of seconds before having the courage to ask, "why are we on the same mission?"

Savannah perked up and retorted with, "what?"

"Why are we on the same mission? How do you know Kent and how does he know you?" Orion started questioning. Savannah didn't answer and stayed silent as she knew where this was going. Orion continued, "it seems a little weird that a girl who continuously moves from state to state suddenly barges into a Ranger fight, kicks down an alien assassin with no hesitation, and seems to know exactly how to fight him. Don't you think?"

The blue-eyed individual attemtped to give him the benefit of the doubt since she did come off as suspicious at times. However, this was making her uncomfortable. Orion progressed on saying, "I'm from another planet and I have to keep that part of me a secret everyday. Don't be afraid to tell us the truth. I know there's more than you're letting on. What do you know? Where did you really come from? And why is Kent so hellbent on killing people than the Earth? Because it seems like that's his goal too."

The young redhead's patience was wearing thin. Orion on the other hand innocently kept going, "what aren't you telling us? We need more information or else we can't beat him."

"I see that you're hellbent on getting everything out of me." Savannah snapped back.

"Well, what other choice do we have-"

"What's going on?" Another person queried.

The two looked upstairs to see one of their friends standing mid-staircase. He had his hand on the railing and a face of confusion.

"We're just talking." Orion told him.

His teammate saw that the nineteen year old was visibly annoyed. She didn't have the time to play off that was okay since he glanced back and forth between the two. Walking down the steps quickly, the Dragon leader pulled the silver ranger aside into another room, leaving Savannah to inwardly sigh of relief.

"You were questioning her, weren't you?" Troy immediately asked him.

"I'm sorry, but we need to know why this is all happening in the first place. The only hint we have is that we killed Kent's father." Orion recalled.

"I understand that, but she's letting us stay here and hasn't done anything wrong. Leave her alone, she'll open up when she's ready and we'll be ready to listen. But right now we can't pressure her, so chill with the questions." Troy told him.

"Why do you always defend her? You know just as much as we do-"

"And I also know pressuring people to talk won't solve anything. It'll only create more problems later on, so stop. I mean it." Troy cut him off.

He walked passed him and left, leaving Orion to sigh.
