Chapter 2
"So, anything interesting happened at work yesterday?" Aubrey asked as she sipped her milk, and I shrugged, looking at my plate of pasta.
"Nothing really," I said, thinking about the previous day. To be honest, the first thing I thought of was that Liam guy that's in my Music class, though that wasn't anything interesting. It was just... Out of the ordinary.
"Oh, hell no," I groaned, looking at the entrance of the cafeteria. Speaking of the devil...
"What?" Scarlett said, turning around so she could see what I was looking at. Unfortunately for me, Liam was standing near the door alone.
"Ooh, he's cute!" She grinned at me before turning around again, and this time the other girls did as well. I rolled my eyes, already kind of annoyed. They always did this, whenever I found a guy's presence unwanted.
"He's annoying," I grumbled, shoving macaroni and cheese in my mouth, as I watched him as well. Cute. Hmpf. I've seen lizards cuter than him.
"Who is he?" Larissa turned to me, the look in her eyes vivid. She was always the most excited one when there was a guy in my life, or in this case, a guy that got on my nerves.
"I've no idea. This guy in my Music class." I shrugged, and now that all four of the girls were looking at me, they narrowed their eyes at me. Every one of them.
"What?" I frowned at them, and they just looked among each other, smirking. Okay. Now I was officially pissed off.
"You know," Carolyn started, playing with her salad. "It'll be easier for you to just tell us." The others nodded. I sighed; why did they love pissing me off before 9 in the morning? I swear, I'd never had breakfast without wanting to stab at least one of them.
"I have nothing to tell you!" I exclaimed. "He came for a coffee yesterday and-"
"Hey!" Aubrey cut me off. "I asked if anything interesting happened!"
"Yeah, and I said no, 'cause nothing happened," I finally said and exhaled at the end. I never had a problem with them thinking there was a guy in my life, but I had to get this straight; Liam? Oh no. Never.
"Hey guys, what'd I miss?" Briana said in a cheery tone as she sat down next to me. If they loved me, they wouldn't tell her.
"Sal's got a crush," Larissa said before I could say anything, which caused me to gape at her. I guess she didn't love me.
"Hey, what the fuck?" I exclaimed and she just shrugged, as if she hadn't just told the biggest lie ever.
"I'm just speaking the truth," She retorted. Yeah, right. And I actually like Liam.
"Who is he?" Briana asked excitedly, and I couldn't help but bury my face in my hands. This was a great way to start the day.
"That guy over there, with the buzz cut," I heard Carolyn say and I mentally slapped her.
"I'm not seeing a buzz cut anywhere," Briana said, her voice slightly less excited. I looked through my fingers to see Carolyn rolling her eyes. "That one over there, with the really short hair!" Scarlett said, sounding a little annoyed as well.
"Woohoo!" Briana made a non-human noise, and while the other girls laughed, I just wanted to bury her alive. Larissa's excitement about me and guys was nothing compared to Briana's.
"He is one nice piece of white ass," I heard her say, and I couldn't help but laugh a little at her statement. Liam, a nice piece of white ass? Were we even looking at the same guy?
"Are you fucking kidding me?" I said as I looked up at Liam, taking the opportunity to have a sip of my milk. Nope. We were difintely not looking at the same guy.
"No, she ain't," Carolyn said, copying Bri's accent. "I suggest you take a good look." She nodded at me, and turned around so she could look at Liam again. I sighed, still frustrated. "Look, if you like him, you can have him," I said as I finished my breakfast, and stood up. Class started in around 10 minutes, and that was honestly all the bullshit I could handle before lunch.
"I suppose now you're gonna accidentally bump into him?" Scarlett wiggled her eyebrows at me, and if I knew I wouldn't get in any trouble, I would have thrown a plate at her.
"In your dreams," I commented as I picked up my bag, and walked out of the cafeteria, careful not to accidentally bump into Liam, who was still standing at the door. Unfortunately for me, our eyes met for a split second, but I was already out before he could say anything. Although, even over the voices of the people in the crowded hallway, I swear I heard someone yell Nora. Hm. Must be just a girl whose identity I'd stolen.

"Alright, class dismissed, though if someone wants to stay in the classroom, you can."
I smiled to myself; I loved Ms. Bailey, her lectures were the most interesting yet shortest ones. I always sat in the very front of the classroom during her classes. This time I decided to stay in, as there were still 20 minutes left until the bell goes off, and I had nothing better to do anyway.
"Oh my," I heard Ms. Bailey mutter, and when I looked at her, she was rubbing the back of her neck, looking at the paper in front of her uneasily. Had someone done their test so badly she had to say it out loud?
"Um, Ms. Dustin?" The teachers in my school always called students by their last names, no matter what. I never thought much about it, but now when I had Liam on my back, I was thankful.
"Yes?" I said, sitting up straight. Ms. Bailey was still looking at the paper, and after a few seconds, she sighed heavily. "I'm going to need you to call this child... This special, special child..." She trailed off, flipping the paper and looking at the back of it.
"Liam Payne." I blinked at her a couple of times; Liam? Could that be coffee shop Liam? Probably... Well. Wasn't this just ideal. I was almost tempted to ask her for someone else to go get him. When I said nothing, she looked up at me. "Is that okay with you?" She asked and I quickly nodded, not wanting to get on her bad side.
"Um, can I ask why though?" I said hesitantly as I stood up and straightened my shirt. If I was going to see him again, I might have to be in a good mood, considering how, say, persistent he was. And if he'd done a test badly... Well, it might be cruel, but it was going to put me in a good mood.
My teacher sighed again. "Well, don't get me wrong, but he has the handwriting of a serial killer," She said through another sigh and I couldn't help but take a peek at the paper in front of her. Big, messy letters. Smooth, Liam.
"What about the test though? Had he done it well?" I asked again, hoping the answer would be what I was expecting.
Ms. Bailey smiled at me. "I get it that he's your friend, so you don't have to worry, much at least. It's average, so far." Clearly, my teacher thought the complete opposite, but I decided not to fight with her as I put on a fake smile.
"Anyways, he's, um..." She trailed off again, flipping some other papers. "Classroom 12. Just say I sent you." She smiled at me and I forced another one back as I made my way out of the classroom. I was already in a shitty mood, and seeing Liam wasn't going to help either.
I walked through the building for a minute, and down the stairs, before I walked to the door that had number 12 taped on it. I took a deep breath before knocking on the door, not ready to face Liam at all.
I knocked and opened the it, and my eyes fell upon an older male teacher I didn't know. "Can I help you?" He asked, obivously annoyed that I'd interrupted his class.
"Well, I'm sorry to interrupt, but Ms. Bailey wants to talk to Liam Payne." I scanned the room and, sure enough, I caught Liam staring at me with a grin. Although, as soon as I finished my sentence, the smile on his face disappeared and now he was looking nervous. Well, that made me a tad bit cheerier.
"Um..." The teacher turned around and scanned the room as well, and pointed his finger at Liam. "You. Go," He said and continued lecturing before Liam had even stood up. He cleared his throat as he did, walking toward the door, and smiled at me when he was sure no one could see him.
"Hi Nora," He said and I couldn't help but breathe out a laugh; I was pretty sure he was the one calling me Nora this morning as well.
"Liam." I nodded at him and shoved my hands into my pockets after closing the door. This was going to be the longest walk through the school I've ever had.
"Did you tell everybody about me?" Liam asked after a few seconds, and I literally stopped in my tracks to make grimace at him; he thought I'd told everyone about him, just... What?
"Excuse me?" I raised my eyebrows at him as he watched me with a slight smile on his face.
"I've asked a few people about your name, and all I got were weird looks," He said, never losing his goddamn smile. Was he happy that no one would let him know my name? Still, a smirk appeared on my face at the thought of him going around asking about it.
"Oh, yeah, I've got the whole school against you," I said as I started walking again, not really waiting for him as he scurried behind me to catch up and walk beside me. I became a little pissed off when I noticed he was brushing his arm against mine purposely; he really couldn't take no for an answer.
"Why though? You're not actually in the mafia, are you?" He asked as I crossed my arms and tried to think of a sassy answer.
"Oh, but why would I joke about that?" I said as I licked my lips, and caught Liam staring at them as I looked up at him. He quickly blinked, trying to cover up his gaze, but I knew better than that; he was staring.
"Why would you tell me about it though? I could go to the police and tell on you." I laughed at his choice of words, and found myself a little desperate to find a way to sink him.
"You sound pretty intelligent for someone who failed a test," I said and glared at him, to which he responded with a confused slash shocked slash worried look in his eyes.
"I-what? I failed a test? Is that why you're calling me?" He said but I only looked around the hallway, whistling, pretending as if I'd no idea what he was talking about. I did that a lot when I lied.
"Only one way to find out," I muttered casually, while Liam was freaking out beside me. I abruptly stopped in front of the Ms. Bailey's classroom, which caused Liam to bump into me. "Hey!" I protested as he took a few steps back. "Sorry," He retorted, and I walked him inside, rolling my eyes. I knew it was my fault he bumped into me, but it was more fun watching him apologize than apologizing myself. I was so evil, why was I so evil?
"Good morning, Ms. Bailey." Liam smiled politely as our teacher turned to the sound of the door opening.
"Hello, Mr. Payne. Thank you, Ms. Dustin, you can take your seat." She smiled at me, and I smiled back as I sat down in front of her desk, and observed as she talked to Liam. Mostly it was her asking him to explain what he had written down, and why he'd written it. It was quite amusing; a nice amount of his answers were plain ridiculous.
In the end, Ms. Bailey sighed uneasily, while Liam looked like he had seen a ghost. I couldn't blame him though; from what I'd heard, he wouldn't be getting more than a C...
"Here you go. C+," Our teacher said and I had to hold back a laugh at Liam's face; he looked terrified, with his eyes widened and his lips slightly parted. Why was I finding that so amusing? Was I really that evil?
"Work on that," Ms. Bailey said as everyone else stood up at the sound of the bell ringing, indicating the end of class.
"But... I...?" Liam stuttered and I almost felt sorry for him; almost. "Booyah," I muttered, loud enough for him to hear me, and I could practically feel his eyes on me as I walked out of the classroom. Now I felt sorry for him.

Liam's POV
I watched her as she left my sight, and shook my head as I walked out as well. I was quite surprised at how persistent she was; quite a challenge, to say the least. But if she thought I was going to give up because she keeps sinking me, oh boy, was she wrong.
I'm going to find out her name, I thought, even if I have to drag it out of her. I was becoming slightly tired of just sitting in the back of the classroom and staring at her, whenever we had Music.
Though I can't say I've ever had a girl that didn't want to tell me her name, except if she really didn't want me to know it. Nora over there? She was just playing hard to get. She just wanted me to keep chasing her, while all she did was drive me crazy.
I liked it.
