Heeeello hello to the wonderful world of Hermittpad! How are all of you doing on this fine day?

We've had an eventful kickoff to Hermitcraft 8 which we covered in our previous chapter! The Hermits have continued releasing episodes and boy have our lovely writers been on the grind recently! With the new season properly underway this week, we're happy to see some familiar faces around Hermittpad again after taking hiatuses from the fandom during the last season!

We've got plenty to cover and plenty to look forward to, but before we dive into our regularly scheduled Hermittpad happenings, we'd like to take a moment to cover a couple important things.

We've recently learned more about the boundaries of one of the new Hermits, GeminiTay. In a released Twitter DM, she stated that she is not comfortable with shipping, especially with those already in relationships with others. We as a community should respect her boundaries much the same way we did for Impulse, and avoid romantic shipping of her. Of course we'd still love to see how you depict her in platonic relationships, (Hermitgals oneshots anyone?) but yes, no romantic pairings!

Additionally, there has been some discourse surrounding Xisuma's nickname for his Season Eight skin, 'Xolotl'. It recently came up that this nickname is actually the name of a God within Aztec/Nahua culture. Of course he didn't know this at the time of giving himself the nickname (and we're not entirely sure if he still does) but out of respect for this culture, we should use an alternative when referring to his nickname instead, so as not to liken Xisuma to himself to a god of another culture. Shall we suggest Axosuma, Xisumalotl, or Axsuma instead? I'm partial to Axsuma myself! Overall though, please do use a name aside from Xolotl when referring to him.

With that said however, let's see what's been happening in our own little community!

First up, can we get a warm welcome back for AliasUnknown? Seven has made an appearance once again for a rewriting of Permatwist on their new account! You read that right, friends, Permatwist is comin' back! Check out their book and read up on the new guidelines and introductions! Get ready for more content of this timeless AU.

Speaking of upcoming projects, pyxsys has delivered a little preview of character profiles on their upcoming book! We're so excited to see what you've got in store for us and loving what we've seen so far!

Also coming in this week is a fresh batch of oneshots from all across the platform!

A collab by Slothinati99 and enby_ofdoom brings us a braaaand new pair of Bdoc oneshots, 'Arguing With a Soulmate' and 'Countdown'! If you're up for a soulmate AU with hurt/comfort vibes, then make sure to check these oneshots out!

And you all heard about the upcoming Jevin lore, right? Green slime, return of Evil X... we'll stop there in case you haven't seen it yet, but you should check out the little animation on his channel! And if that animation sneak peak has you itching for even more, check out the oneshot by Ariyaquila, 'Midnight Meandering'! Quill also brought up the... very good point that Evil Jevin could indeed be called Kevin. I'm likin' it myself!

saphixe is returning from both Hermitcraft and social media hiatus to drop a oneshot book that has since released a handful of oneshots including some platonic Hermitgals fluff and multiple Bdoc oneshots! Requests for their book are open so swing by if there's something you'd like to see! They're planning to be active online whenever schedule permits, so expect to see a little more of her around!

Aaaand speaking of Bdoc, EminenceGhost released another oneshot for the Swingset AU collection, 'Promise Rings'! If you're here for summer vibes, cute dates, and melt-you-to-your-core-with-softness fluff, then be sure to give it a read!

A few authors this week have also decided to discontinue/conclude former works including TinyUWU's 'Feelings of Philophobia', hdhcbdu's Hermitcraft 7 Fluff, and Eeveetails101's 'A Nobody's Quarrel'. Thank you for your writing, it was great while it lasted! <3

BUT! I'd love for this book to make a comeback with some fun writing events for all of Hermittpad to enjoy and maybe some writing tips here and there! I've got a little somethin' somethin' in mind for July, but I'd love to hear any suggestions you have for future chapters in this book as well!

What kind of tips would you like as a writer? What kind of events would you enjoy as a reader? Vice versa? Please leave your thoughts!
