For Good

Last part!
—————

Zander just glared at them through the magically enhanced glass, so strong even they couldn't break it. Though the entire room was magically enhanced the same way so there wasn't any escaping through vents, walls, ceilings, anything. There was everything you think a prison cell would have, a small metal toilet, an uncomfortable bed, the works. As just in case not that magic would get him out of there there were power dampening strips on the ceiling, floor and several hidden places just in case. Even if he ripped them from the places they were fixated they were macally enhanced to always work and never break. Zander clearly knew he wasn't going anywhere as he glared at us from a corner of the cell. His striking eyes sending shivers down my spine as I glared back.

"Why?," I whisper knowing he heard me.

He laughed like I was stupid. "My father, don't you remember,"
I rolled my eyes at his anger, it wouldn't get him anywhere.

"Right, no other reason?" I ask sarcastically.

"Just that I hate you. I want to see you crumble. I want to see you weak, like a helpless puppy," Zander growls, making me step back. Xisuma presses a button silencing him. Well not exactly him per say, just any noise that comes from his cell. His words were like a trigger breaking me.

"We'll be back," Xisuma states before we leave. I wiped the tears, part of me still loved him. Well I loved what he used to be, not what he became. Sure I love Etho but you don't forget your first love.
As soon as we were outside of the room I slid down the wall and sobbed. My anger sent bursts of energy throughout the building. It didn't damage anything but it seriously affected everyone's emotions making them feel what I felt. I screamed and shouted as Xisuma did his best to help me and fix what I was doing.

I heard running and knew that it was Grian and Etho.
I felt arms wrap around me and I knew it was Etho because I could smell him. Gasping for air I pushed my hand onto the wall standing up. Looking up I saw three faces looking at me concerned.

"Why does it have to hurt," I asked, nearly breaking down again.

"Because you have the memories of what was," Grian whispers. Part of me was angry at myself. I was angry for wanting the old Zander, the one that cared. But I was angry for not thinking of what I have now Etho. Another part of me just wanted all of this to end. To stop thinking about him, about what he was going to do, what would have happened if we didn't succeed.

But it didn't matter, the trial was in the morning and I knew no one would be the same after.

------------------

I slept in a hotel that night, no one wanted to go back to Hermitcraft. All the hermits were in the hub. Some stayed with family and friends but many also stayed in the same hotel.
I ate very little that morning, a bagel and a latte. Our identities as Primes had been outed during the battle so I left my wings on display as did Xisuma.

Grian did hide his wings so no one would think he was with Zander for any reason.
His watcher army is in a large hybrid prison. The entire prison is equipped for those with magic so we didn't worry about them breaking free.

I watched a little girl point at my wings and awe at them as I walked to the courthouse.
Most scrambled out of fear, though children didn't understand and tried to touch them.
Even though parents pulled their kids away I let a few touch them. They giggled at how soft they were before I had to say goodbye.

-----------------
(I know next to nothing about law so bare with me)

"Order in the court,"

Everyone quieted as we turned our attention to the judge. Zander was handcuffed as well as a power dampening collar.

"We are here on the account that Zander, king of the Watchers, had attacked the hub yesterday," The judge states as I caught my eye with Zander. In this case he was the defendant while Xisuma and I were the prosecutors. We both had skilled lawyers even though we both knew Zander wouldn't win. This was simply for documents and to see a rightful punishment.
The jury was actually the council all have taken an oath to think as unbiased as possible. Though the oath was pointless it made it legal for them to be the jury.
The room was cold but the huge amount of people from the press to the families of those who died yesterday made it cramped.

"How does the defendant plead?"

"Guilty," Zander states glaring at the poor judge. The judge cleared his throat and held another piece of paper up.

"Would the prosecutor like to state their facts?"

"Yes. Citizens all over the hub have witnessed the battle yesterday. My clients are our Prime admins and were the two that took down Zander. The destruction and his plea should be enough evidence," Our lawyer states while the jury writes everything down.

"Does the defendant have anything to say?" the judge sighs. A shake of their head lets us move on.
This is the slightly funny part, the questions from the jury. We already knew that several council member wanted to ask really stupid questions. I know it wasn't exactly helpful because it could be bad for the press but it didn't really matter.

It's just going to be really embarrassing for Zander.

"We may now proceed with questioning of the defendant," The judge calls out, making everyone turn their heads.

Multiple hands were raised just enough for Zander's lawyer to see.

"Mr. Wastaken?"

"Did you really think taking on two primes was a good idea?" He asks, his mask made his question so much more daunting.
Zander gets red for a moment before whispering to his lawyer.

"He did not think of the possibility, he had counted on just one Prime to fight," Many of the people behind us snickered, making me smile.

"Lord Dreamslayer?"

I heard Zander mumble confused.

"Is it true you went crazy after Prime Admin Newton Broke up with you after you cheated on her twice. With her best friend at the time," Grian asks, making me scowl at him. I had spent a long time burying those memories, not that I was mad or they were a secret either.

"Yes,"

That simple answer made several gasps from both the jury and the audience ring out. I knew what they were doing. Trying to destroy any dignity he had left, even though he would most likely rot in a cell for the rest of his life. We had agreed already that death was too easy for him. Besides, this trial is just for documents and press Xisuma and I got to make the final call this morning before the trial.

"Ms. Symmetry?"

"On a scale of 1 to 10 how successful do you think you were with your attack?" She asks tilting her head.

Another whisper with another red face caused another camera to click.

"3 at most," His lawyer said, staring at his notes, embarrassed even though we told him we would pay him plenty anyway. I couldn't help but to giggle a little, such a silly question is such a serious situation.

"Mr. ....Slab?" The judge called Etho confused. Honestly that's not event the weirdest last name yet, Dreamslayer is much stranger.

"Erm yes." Etho coughed. "What the fuck was going through your head?!"

"Language Mr.Slab," The judge warned.

"Sorry but it's a genuine question,"

"Right well carry on,"

"Request for the defendant to answer the question," Our lawyer asks and the judge nods.

The other lawyer whispers and slides the microphone over. I catch Etho's eyes and they say a thousand words. I know mine shows fear, but his tells me that he's sorry but he needed to know. Besides I looked into his mind I couldn't help it and it held guilt.

Zander clears his throat. "Uh, well the idea was to complete my father's vision of controlling minecraft and it's realms. The idea was to gain the primes powers and use that to finish the mission,"

I shifted uncomfortably thinking about what would happen if he was successful. I wouldn't be alive if his mission was successful, neither would Xisuma and likely most of the council.
The room grew hot and I became sweaty with tension.

I nodded to our lawyer who stood up. "Permission for my client to ask a question?"

"Permission granted,"
The room grew hotter and the tension rose if that was possible. It didn't seem possible with how light it had already been. The formerly cold room seemed like a dessert.

The microphone slid my way as I nervously hold the stand.

"Your father is dead, why continue on with his dream?" I ask. I saw Grian shift awkwardly. It made sense it was his father too.

"Why do anything in life? It was for fulfillment to prove I could the the man he was. It's a shame my brother couldn't live up to his standards," Zander snears.

I glance at the lawyer again and she stands up again. "Permission for recess?"

"Permission granted, 30 minute recess enacted now," The judge states. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. As soon as he banged his gavel I rushed out of there.
I teleported straight to my office knowing it's soundproof.

I screamed and screamed out of sadness and anger. I was so mad at him. Thinking he had any right to say any of that.
He already made a statement about me, why Grian too? They weren't even close from what I know. Xisuma teleports into his own office, grabs a drinking glass and throws it at the wall, shattering it.
I sat at my desk, elbows resting on the surface with my head resting in my hands as I sobbed.

I heard running down the hall as well as my office door being yanked open. "How's Grian?"
I whisper almost choking

"He's in the council room with Mumbo, most likely doing what you or Xisuma is doing," He says, gathering me into his arms.
I turn my head to see Xisuma throwing a vase.

"Well we certainly handle stress differently," I chuckle trying to lighten the mood.

---------

Xisuma, Grian, and I had used magic to clean up and look as unbothered as possible.
Murmurs filled the room when Xisuma and I entered, wondering what had happened.

"We will be proceeding past questioning," I announced, making more chatter arise.

"Is that legal?" Someone asked.

"Yes, they have all final say," The judge says, making pens scribble.

"We will begin with the final statements," The judge says, banging his gavel signaling the end of recess.

Our lawyer leans into the microphone. "On all accounts of his charges he should not walk away free,"

It was a weak statement but it was for the press, they would eat it up.

Zander's lawyer leans in creating another wave of silence. "No final statement,"

"We will be moving to the final hearing, noon tomorrow," The judge announces.

I was surprised, sure I wasn't that knowledgeable on law but I thought we would finish it up today. I suppose not and that's alright. I calmly stood up and walked out the doors. I stood outside the doors answering press questions such as what my opinion is. I told them that it was confidential which is true, I have a right to privacy.

I eventually found Etho who took my hand before I teleported us both to our hotel room.

"That was certainly something," I sigh, falling back onto the bed.

"Well the hearing shouldn't be long tomorrow," He says, taking his suit jacket off and jumping on the bed too. I rolled onto my side to face him smiling. This was something I loved about us, acting like teenagers in highschool.

"Well let's think about anything else," I said as he brushed a hair out of my face.

"Well my mother visited me again last night," He sighed. His mother sometimes talks to him in his dreams.

"What did she say?" I say frowning, I never liked that woman. She thought she was the key feature to life and everyone should bow down to her. Even as a prime admin I never thought of myself like that. Besides, Xisuma and I have more responsibilities for Minecraft than her.

"She wants me to reconnect with my brother," He says.

"Your brother?"

"P1lza," He sighs.

"Right, he's on the Dream SMP right?" I asked sitting up.

He nods.

I humm a little in thought. "Are you two close?"

"No, not really, we do share the same father and everything but he's over 15 years older than I am," He explains. "My father is some other deity,"

"Really, well there aren't many deities,"

"I don't even know, only our mother," He sighs.

"Really?" I softly whisper. He nods before we decide to head to dinner.

---------------

The next morning was tense. My hand shook as I ate breakfast. The hermits were with me and did what they could to console me.

"You already know all of our votes," False said Mumbo nodding with her.

"It's not like anyone would vote for him even if this was a regular trial," Grian adds.

"He's your brother, how do you feel about this?" I ask as he starts to frown.

"We were close growing up but he grew resentful when I started training. He wanted to be the older brother, since he thought I would be the next king. He hated me," He says, stirring a cup of tea. "Of course he got his wish when I ran away,"

"But do you feel remorse?" Xisuma asks, resting his head on the table. Apparently he got little sleep, too anxious.

"As a brother, yes, it's impossible not to, we are family." He says and I knew just how he felt I had banished my sister for 8 months after she got out of the mental hospital. She had been looting several banks to spite me.

"But as a person, no. He isn't the kid I grew up with the Zander I knew wouldn't have done any of this," He sighs a tear slipping down his cheek.

----------------

Noon rolled around sooner than anyone desired so they gathered up their courage and walked to the courthouse.

It was like a scene in the movies when everyone slowmo walks somewhere and they all look cool. Everyone was staring at them too just like the movies. Everyone, just like yesterday, was dressed formally.

"Order in the court!"

"We will begin with final charges,"

"King Zander of the Watchers has been charged with... 60 accounts of murder, 25 accounts of attempted murder, 45 accounts of assult. 16 accounts of kidnapping by his hand 98 announts of kidnapping by his orders. Attacking the hub, drug trade," At that point she stopped listening as the list grew and grew.

She didn't want to listen as many of his crimes had involved her. It was sad to think about the many families he ripped apart before he was finally brought down to reality.
Even a king is not above the law, though the laws of the watchers are much more barbaric. They could get away with so much more, murder wasn't even illegal in their eyes.

Eventually the list ended and she heard gagging in the audience. She wasn't surprised he was truly a monster, not the man she met 8 years ago. It was hard to be surprised when he has made multiple personal attacks, even kidnapping and paying her sister to tourture her.

There were other things that she didn't think he had the guts to do, drug trade, human trafficking, how deep was he? Cleary too deep because now they sat in a courtroom about to tell him he would live in a cell until he died.

"We will now hold final vote,"

"All in favor of the prosecutor,"

Every single hand flew up making me relax.

"Vote is anonymous therefore we will move on to final verdict,"
I shifted uncomfortably again since I was nervous of his potential reaction.

The judge continues "On all accounts of his charges King Zander will face prison until death."

I look over to him and see his head brewing up something. A single tear slips down and I look to see Grian with a few tears slipping as well. I felt so bad for Grian to see his brother's fate, him to be a part of it as well.

----------------

"Why didn't you kill me?" He asks as we watch him walk into his forever home. It's the same cell as before.

I sigh before answering. "Death was too easy,"

"I understand,"
