Grian smiled and shut his eyes as he felt the wind rushing through his hair, the feeling of weightlessness and freedom taking away any and every one of his worries. His sweater flapped in the wind, beating against him. He allowed himself to dive and freefall a moment, enjoying the rush of adrenaline.

He was on his way to his Hobbit House to grab a few things for his new 'headquarters.'

He went to pull back up, but realized something- He couldn't.

He opened his eyes in a panic. His elytra had just lost it's durability and he was free-falling. And to make the matter worse, he didn't have a spare. The one day he didn't was the day he should've.

The land below slowly became more and more clearer- He was within sight of the house! Slowly, the hill with it came clearer and- Ack! He rolled his body to the side, narrowly avoiding a piece of bamboo. He began yelling and screaming for someone- anyone, but the efforts were no avail. He watched as time itself seemed to slow, every little thing seeming much more important- The buzz of the flies, the slight way to wind was whipping south, the fact he was about ten seconds from death.

Nine seconds.

Eight seconds.

Seven seconds.

Six, five,- He closed his eyes -four, three seconds.

Two seconds.

One second.

"Goodbye world..." He quietly thought, waiting for the impact and shattering bones.

But it never came. At least, not the last part.

He screamed as he felt something hit his face. His yell slowly fizzled out as his vision went black.

----------

He woke up to pain.

His head throbbed, his face hurt, and he was soar. He groaned, somehow feeling a really small rock just against his leg. He went to sit up, but everything seemed to go into hyperfocus- Especially the pain.

He felt something warm, wet, and sticky dribble from the corner of his eye and down his face. Slowly, he brought a hand up to it and pulled it away. He held his hand to his eyes to see what it was. Blood? It sorta felt like blood. That'd make sense becuase of the fall. But he realized something- He couldn't see what it was. All he could see was the tiny, black speckles that were apparently his vision.

Maybe I just have my eyes closed? He thought.

So, he tried the obvious. He tried opening them. But everything stayed black.

Odd.. Maybe I have something over them..?

So, Grian reached a hand and finger above his eyes, but winced due to accidentally poking it.

So I don't have my eyes closed... yet everything's black..

He thought a moment, trying to figure this out, and his panic level slowly rising. Why couldn't he see? What was wrong with him? Was this a dream? Yeah, it must be a dream. Right? Right? Right.....?

He decided on it being a dream. It had to be a dream. That's the only logical solution here.

He groaned in pain as he sat up at a snails pace. Slowly but surely, he got himself to his feet. He reached out a hand and placed it on the tree that felt three feet to the right of him and about an inch in front-

Wait..! How'd he know that....? He couldn't see... Odd....

Sighing, he took a step forward, only for his hyper-senses to come back right as his foot came down on a sharp rock. Instead of yelping though, he smiled.

Yes! This is it! I'll wake up and I'll see! C'mon, cmon! Any moment now...!!

He waited a moment, but nothing happened. He never woke up. That meant one thing. This never was a dream..

He brought his hand to his face, feeling the same liquid. Blood..  It had to be blood. He paused, going through a small flashback.

He was falling. He yelled and turned onto his side to avoid a piece of bamboo. Green bamboo. But then, right before he felt something hit his face and him blacking out, he saw something tale over his vision. Something green. Another piece of bamboo. And it hit his eye..

His breaths became shuddery and he began to seriously panic. He stumbled backwards and fell onto his bum. He could feel himself crying, but didn't feel the tears.

He couldn't- He wasn't- He shouldn't- He should- But- No... It couldn't..- He wasn't, he couldn't be- B-but... he..

He curled into a small ball, sobbing in disbelief. He didn't want to accept it. It had been nagging him but he'd ignored it. It just couldn't be true. It couldn't! He couldn't go without it... He didn't want to accept it... But he had to. He cried even harder. He didn't want this.

He didn't want to be blind.

----------

Scar smiled and hummed to himself as he flew towards the friendly neighborhood gremlins hobbit house.

Payback time! He thought.

You see, it is taken awhile but he'd finally figured it out- It was Grian! Grian was the one who was stealing his door! And now? Well Scar was gonna steal his!

Scar laughed. He was such a sneaky sneak. He'd have to tell Jellie later too! Oh she'd be so proud!

The man stared to slip into his thoughts about Jellie, only to be distracted by something below.

The land looked torn. Bamboo was everywhere and scattered, and there was a chunk of dirt that looked like a crash landing. And- Oh no.. Blood. There was blood on some bamboo closer to the ground... And..

Scar muttered something under his breath as he dove down, spamming rockets as quick as he can, going after the one thing in his sights right now.

A bloodied, red-sweater clad man.

----------

He heard the rockets, but he didn't care.

He was blind. He wouldn't be able to fly again.. Or build.. Or walk.. Or prank..

He couldn't see gosh darnit!

His sobs became even louder upon hearing someone- Scar from what it sounded- Calling his name.

He was a short, pain-in-the-side, blind freak. Nobody wanted him before and now they'd all be able to leave him for good...

Finally, Scar reached him and fell to the ground next to him. Grian ignored all his questions and stayed utterly limp and crying as he was pulled into a hug.

----------

"Grian!"

Scar began running over to the latter, but he got no response.

"Grian!!"

Please don't be dead. Please don't be dead. Please don't be dead-

A sob escaped his lips and Scar let out a breath- He wasn't dead.

He fell to his side. "Grian what's wrong? What happened? C'mon ya gotta talk to me man..!"

He gently shook Grian, but to no avail the other did nothing but sob and cry even harder. "Grian look at me ok? It's ok..."

Scar gently turned him over so he could see Grian. He looked him over. He looked fine, nothing was hurt. But where was the blood- Oh.

"Oh Grian....."

He pulled the shorter into a hug and gently rocked him, repeatedly telling him that it's gonna be ok.

Grian was blind. Had gone blind. The poor guy...

It took a long while for the other to calm down to an ok-level. Grian sniffled and quietly spoke. "Am I...." He let out a small sob. "S-scar... a-am I b-blind.....?"

Scar nodded, then paused. He was blind you idiot, he couldn't see you nod. Carefully, he ran a hand through his blonde hair. "Yes... yes you are Gri.."

Grian nodded and continued crying. "A-are my eyes o-o-open....?"

He hugged Grian tighter. "Yes, yes they are... they're open."

A moment of silence passed.

"Scar...?"

"Hmm?"

"What. What am I gonna do now... I-I can't see Scar.. I-I can't fly o-or build o-or walk or t-take social queues. I can't do a-anything anymore!" He sobbed a lot more before quietly adding something else that broke Scars' heart, and if the other hermits had heard? Scar knew it would break theirs too. "I-I'm just a useless f-freak..!"

"Oh no... nonono Grian no your not.. Your an amazing, fantastic person Grian. You're not a freak and I never want to hear that from you.. We all love you and will love you no matter what. Ok?"

Grian shook his head. "I'm still a freak who can't see..."

"So?" Scar asked. "Nobody here will care about you being blind Gri, nobody. The only thing they'll care about is helping you and you getting better.. Ok..?"

Grian slowly nodded and cried a bit more on him. "S-scar..?"

"Yes?"

"Wha- what am I gonna do now.."

"I don't know Gri, I really don't know. But we'll get through it ok? You and me. And the rest of our friends." He added the emphasis on 'friends' to make a point- One being that the hermits were, are, and will be there to help him.

Grian shook his head. "But-"

"Don't. It's going to be ok Grian. Alright? You have to believe in that. You and me and Jellie and the hermits. We're going to help you."

Grian lightly smiled and laughed weakly. "Even Jellie...?"

Scar smiled, seeing the other looking better. "Even Jellie."

Grian smiled. "Love ya Scar.. thanks for being there.."

Scar nodded and ruffles his hair gently. "Love ya too blind guy. That's what friends are for anyways.."

Grian grimaced.

"Sorry!!! Too soon??"

Grian nodded. "Maybe.."

"Sorry.." Apologized Scar.

Grian nodded. "It's ok.. just keep up the hugs.."

Scar lightly laughed. "Done." He smiled and rested his head on top of Grian's. Like heck he was letting go.
