Chapter 2: The Gloomy World
Third Person's POV
Another new standard day has started for those fellow high schoolers.
Rarity strolled around the Canterlot High School campus surroundings, going on nonstop about her most recent exciting events in her life. She successfully made some friends with those people, that you'd call elite. Rarity became popular as quick as a flash. Up to this point, she just happened to bump into a girl named Twilight Sparkle. Twilight Sparkle is the library's head student assistant and number one genius in this entire school.
Rarity's POV
"O-Oof, I'm sorry!" I shouted out, rubbing on the wound on my head where I bumped the girl on.
"All okay, this was my fault anyways.. Hey! Wait there, I never saw you around here before...?" The girl paused for a second, analyzing everything about me with her sturdy stare.
She smiled, "You must be new! I'm Twilight. Twilight Sparkle. Just call me Twilight or Twi," She gave me a sweet smile and took her hand out. I was momentarily hesitant to take her hand, but then we shook hands.
"Rarity! I am Rarity Belle, call me Rarity." I said as I giggled, shaking her hand.
"So, how was this school for you, Rarity? Was people being kind to you? Did you like it here? Have you met people, like Applejack? Rainbow Dash?" Twilight pleaded with a lot of questions. Not that I minded, I like to be asked anyways. Okay, sometimes.
"I like it here, I haven't stayed for that long though but it seems great right now. People are fine! There are people who's jealous of me but I can handle it. Yes, I've met Rainbow Dash. She's cool. Applejack..? Yeah, isn't she the girl who's mute? I feel bad for her... I don't really understand why she doesn't talk with her voice but oh well...." I said, shrugging.
"Rarity!!! Applejack is also one of the strongest people here. She's on the par with Rainbow Dash. Even if Applejack doesn't speak, she's very strong and to not be underestimated." Twilight said firmly with a lot of determination, and it was my mistake to scoff.
"How strong?" I scoffed, doubtful. I fixed my eyes on my nails after saying that.
"Strong enough to kick your ass out of that window behind you." Twilight said with a firm serious tone.
It might be false or true but I'd rather to not take my chances. Shivers were sent down to my body filled with goosebumps and chillness. I gulped as I let the shivers go away.
"It is indeed true." Twilight added when my reaction became noticeable.
"But— Twilight, why does she not talk with her voice? Did something bad happen to her?" I questioned.
"Sigh.. Well, I am one of Applejack's best friends, Rarity. She only talks to whom she trusts, but if you really want to know, then you should ask Applejack directly. It's not really my place to say....." Twilight frowned, refusing to let any word out about Applejack's life.
"Oh.. okay. I understand, thank you Twilight. It was a big pleasure to meet you, my darling." I smiled. Twilight nodded and walked away to wherever she was supposed to go with hard covered books in her arms. She disappeared from my eyes and I disappeared into my thoughts.
Twilight became seriously sad when she said it wasn't her place to say anything about Applejack or her past. Hmm, that sounds interesting.. There's something dark that I don't know about Applejack and I'm going to find out. I want to know why she's mute, there must be a reason for that.
I shook my head and started to head to my next class. I got a little bit lost in the halls, trying to find someone willing to lead me the way to the classroom I needed to be at.
That classroom was the spot my friends chose to meet for my free period right now. I don't even know where the classroom is at all.. All I know is the number, not the exact location.
Nobody's here. I don't see anybody in sight. I tried going into some offices, and they were all locked. Why is anybody barely out here?
A loud sound distracted me, it was coming from this classroom behind me from the left side so I approached towards that door. Maybe, they can help me find the classroom I'm supposed to go to? Somebody, at last!
I entered inside that noisy classroom, only finding Applejack playing her guitar sitting on top of a teacher's desk, with her eyes being shut facing towards the open window.
Applejack didn't know I was here, so I kept quiet and let her continue her music.
A cheerful happy song was being played, then there was a pause, wrapping up that song before she played a different one.
The tone of this song changed so immensely. It got so gloomy and very depressing that made me feel like the entire world was breaking down, everything became black and white. There was no gray or middle. People were painfully shouting and very unhappy. The gloomy rain continued to shower everyday as the sun never flared not even once. Negativity flowed around. Everything felt cheerless, and dreary.
It was making me very emotional, it is making me want to cry. To think that Applejack might've went through this pain makes me so sad. I don't want to believe she experienced this much trauma enough to be able to play that song.
The words and lyrics she uttered so far until now sounded so deep like there's depth & meanings in them. She sung in a hushed like tone, like Applejack desperately did not want anyone to hear this.
The music vaguely rung through into my ears echoey as each wordings were boldened with encrypted emotions and history.
"Through tear-stained eyes I see the world so crumbled,"
"Cheated on by fate's cruel hand, led astray. Anxiety dances like fireflies through my veins,"
"Torment and worry seeping deep into life's remains, yearning for a better tomorrow,"
I couldn't help but immediately shed a tear.
"Applejack!" I impulsively blurted out.
She widened her eyes, because I was here with her for a while now. I got to hear her playing music. The song abruptly stopped. Tears were dripping on my face too.
Applejack quickly put her guitar away in the guitar case on a school desk in front of us.
The notebook was already on the teacher's desk AJ was sitting on so she grabbed it and wrote down; "Hey Rarity, I did not see you there. I am very sorry if I made you cry, I did not mean to.." Applejack took it upon herself, by walking up to me and giving me the note while frowning. I approached closer to Applejack.
"I didn't mean to intrude, but that song was very deep... It made me cry, I'm okay though. Have you went through that pain before?" I inquired.
AJ sighed and wrote on the note; "I'm sorry... I just felt like playing that song, I was kinda in pain but I do not want to go there."
"Okay... but could you tell me why are you mute?" I asked as Applejack was lightly stunned, not excepting to hear that. She took the note back, writing more sentences on it.
I guess it's not everyday you get asked about this kind of thing.
"Apologies but I really would prefer not to say, not anything about being mute or the pain I felt... You can ask me anything except that..." The note from her says.
"That's alright.. If you ever need someone to talk to, you have me, really. I mean it." I said, smiling at her.
Applejack nodded and smiled back while I scanned through her eyes.
Her eyes displayed pure sadness and was staggered like she actually went through something really terrible. Pity and sympathy washed upon me for this outcast farmer girl.
She looked lonely and I wanted to help her because she's considered as my... well.... friend and..
I might like, like, and like her.. Her personality, her hobbies, her moods, her music, and her life, they're ALL so intriguing. I have this feeling where I really just want to keep knowing more about her, but I can't...... like her.
My parents would forbid me to even interact with an outcast, and I'm not a lesbian.... I don't like girls.. I don't know anymore. Rarity, just let it go!! Go home.. No, I definitely don't like her and that's the final, dummy!
"Anyways, Applejack, I need to go home. I'll see you at school tomorrow!" I winked at her, and she was blushing hard. I could see her clear rosy blushes as I laughed.
I shouldn't have done that, but I couldn't help it. It's a part of my natural charm, and she's cute to tease.
Aw, my free time got lost to hang out with my friends but the conversation I had with Applejack was so worth it. Totally worth it.
I was almost at the entrance to exit this classroom but somebody grabbed my wrist before I could. I looked behind to see who, and it was Applejack. I don't know why she did that.....?
"Applejack..?"
