Chapter 70
Naomi's PoV
The plan was faultless. And so so simple. I knew the band had a day off today and knew it would mean that they would go out, probably driving around like they usually did as they ate different foods and took in the sights. Honestly they were a little predictable.
Kyle and I had been talking for a while and he introduced me to his friend Indi, who would be my go to guy for this plan. We then met to discuss a plan in a busy restaurant, knowing everyone would be too busy with their own lives to listen to what I was saying.
"So you're sure they're going to be driving around?" Indi asked me as he stabbed his salad with a fork, taking in some lettuce and a chunk of chicken, stuffing it in his face. I sipped the straw of my fizzy drink, taking a small drink before nodding.
"I'm sure. They do the same thing every time they have a break." It was my turn to eat a forkful of my pasta.
"And you know what their van looks like?" He quizzed, eyeing up the people closest to make sure they weren't listening in. I nodded again, pulling my phone out and showing him multiple photos on social media with the van in the background. He snatched my phone and quickly looked through, smirking as he zoomed in on one.
"Sweet. This one even has the license plate." He sent the photo to his own phone and gave me back mine.
"So you reckon it'll work?" It was my turn to interrogate.
"Sure. I'll plant a tracker device on the van when it pulls up in the morning to pick them up from the hotel." He shrugged like what was no problem at all, as if second nature like brushing his hair. I looked at him a little unsure. Surely this wasn't as easy as he said. I waited for him to continue. "Then I'll grab the lorry. I'll drive the same way but I'll cut them off at the nearest crossroads, aiming for the part of the car that woman is sitting in. I'll smash the lorry into them and bam, job done." Once again he made it sound easy, as if it were a recipe for a dinner he'd made dozens of times before. My heart skipped excitedly.
"She'll be gone. Or injured. Or dead. Whatever." I said with an evil smile.
"There will be collateral damage though. Others in that car may get hurt too." Indi responded but I wasn't bothered about that.
"It's fine. If it's Calum, I'll pretend I was driving in the area and help him out. He'll think I saved him and he'll be even more besotted with me than he was before. Right?" Indi seemed to nod but I'm pretty sure that was just to shut me up. Either way, the plan was in place and we were ready to go. We toasted to a great plan and finished our dinner in a happy silence, enjoying the calm before the storm.

The day finally arrived and I kept my phone glued to my hand, awaiting any messages from Indi or Kyle. The plan had been picked apart and put back together so perfectly it was as if nothing could go wrong. So all I was waiting for was his go ahead.
My phone finally buzzed.
I: tracker in place
I loaded up the app he had shown me and there as a big flashing red light on a map was the car that my love was sitting in with all his friends and band members. I watched as it began to move off.
I: on the move
I began my drive and knew Indi had begun his too. He would update me as to where the incident was going to take place when we got closer to it, so for now my plan was just to drive in the same direction as them, keeping far enough away that they wouldn't notice me. It was an easy enough job.
I: C7
The signal was there. A block and column number that would correlate to a specific place on the map on the app. And sure enough there it was. A crossroads straight ahead. A smile grew on my face as adrenaline and excitement began to pump through me. We made it. I drove behind the van with a few cars between us, watching with a level of nervous happiness as the bleeping red dot got closer to C7 on the map. As the tip of the circle entered that square, I sped up, glancing to my left as I watched the massive lorry speed through the red light and straight into the side of the van. The screeching and skidding of the tyres was deafening as the glass from the van shattered, the doors groaning under the pressure. I watched the van's side cave in as it tipped onto two wheels. The van and lorry finally coming to a stop. The cars ahead of me slammed their brakes on, as did I as I got closer to the mess. People were already out and calling the emergency services. Indi had taken the pill which would make it look like he'd had something medical happen whilst he was behind the wheel, meaning he wouldn't get in trouble. I rushed as quickly as I could towards the mess of metal and noted a few bodies spread out around the road with differing injuries but that's when I heard it.
"Calum?" "Poppy?" "Ashton?" Voices calling out for other voices. Were those people okay? Did they survive?
I picked up the pace and rushed around, realising I couldn't see Calum at all. It wasn't until I looked into the crushed van I could see him and Poppy, her working as hard as she could whilst being severely injured. She was giving him CPR.
My heart stopped. My mouth dropped open.
What had I done?
