Chapter 6

Poppy's PoV

After a delicious tapas lunch, we headed into town and shopped around, before heading back to the beach for one last moment of peace before it was time for the soundcheck.
We all bundled back into the car and headed to the venue, with me keeping a close eye on Crystal without making it obvious. I wanted to talk to her and Michael about it but I noticed they were still distant throughout the journey and something told me that despite the plan going well, she hadn't told him. As we jumped out of the car and headed into the arena, I hung back and waited for Crystal, walking with her slightly behind the rest of the group.

"So...?" I began but she instantly shook her head.

"I couldn't tell him. I want him to be focussed on work, not on me. I'll wait for the scan and then I'll tell him." She was quick to justify her actions as I looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Are you sure?" I questioned quietly. "Wouldn't leaving it and not answering the cheating rumours only make it worse?" She huffed as she glared at me for speaking out of turn.

"I know I'm not cheating. I don't need to prove myself to anyone." She snapped, throwing her arms around herself again.

"But you do. Michael has clearly been on edge all day because of it and-" I began but she stopped walking, spinning to face me with fury in her eyes.

"Focus on your own relationship before you get involved in mine. It's not like I should be taking advice from someone who had such a bad time at the beginning." She spat, attracting the attention of everyone in the group who in turn span round to face us. "Leave me alone!" She shoved me back as she stormed past everyone, running out of sight before anyone had a chance to chase her. Calum and Michael rushed over to me, Calum enveloping me in a hug whilst Michael stood awaiting an explanation as to why his girlfriend had just run away from me. Oh Michael how I wish I could tell you the truth.

"Everything okay babe?" Calum soothed as I stared blankly out to where Crystal had gone. "What was that about?"

"What did you say to her?" Michael asked, agitation obvious in his tone. I shot him a glare.

"I said nothing out of turn." I stuck up for myself. "I'm sorry but I can't say what we were talking about." Michael's jaw tensed as he looked away, sighing heavily.

"Mike, don't blame it on Poppy. They were obviously talking about something private." Calum tried to stick up for me but Michael shook his head.

"I don't care. She obviously said something bad." Michael said, not looking at me. I bit my lips together to stop myself saying something I shouldn't.

"And crystal saying that to me was fine?" I questioned. Michael didn't answer.

"I'll see you in the rehearsal. I'm off to find my girlfriend." Michael turned to Calum before storming off in the same direction crystal went. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding as Calum squeezed me tightly.

"Ignore them. The cheating article got to them both." He tried to cheer me up. I appreciated it but I knew it wasn't going to help. What crystal had said really did cut deep. I glanced over to Calum and looked into his eyes, the memories of the start of our relationship flashing through my mind like a movie trailer. She was right. I'd caused a lot of problems for Calum and the group whilst I'd known him and here I was now trying to pretend everything was perfect when in reality the damage had already been done. We were just cementing the cracks and hoping they lasted.

"Cal?" Ashton called, catching both of our attentions. "We've got to head in." He said reluctantly, knowing it was a bad time and we were upset.

"Baby..." he turned to me and stroked my hair.

"It's fine, I'll be fine." I soothed, giving him a quick kiss on the lips. "Go do your thing." I offered a small smile which he retaliated.

"We'll talk more after. See you in a bit." He hugged me before jogging to catch up with his band mates, leaving me alone as I watched Bex and Sierra look between me and where Crystal had gone. This was awful. What happened to everything being fine?

Before we knew it, the concert was in full swing and all of us were seated in a vip section watching the guys do their thing. The crowd were going wild, screaming and crying, singing along as they waved signs and flags along to the songs. The sound was unbelievable and with the lighting working with the music, the whole show was awe-inspiring. I'd never seen anything like it. As they announced the last song, Crystal excused herself and said she was going to wait for Michael in his dressing room. The rest of us exchanged glances but nodded, continuing to watch the show as they played their hardest for the last part of the gig. The crowd jumped around, screaming their lyrics along with their names.

"It's amazing isn't it? How much happiness they bring to these people with their music." Sierra said loudly to us so we could hear her over the music. I just smiled and nodded, feeling caught up in the music as I swayed to the song.

Soon the gig was over and as everyone left the arena, security told us to wait a moment before we headed to the dressing rooms just because of the amount of people passing by. As the arena got quieter, we talked about our favourite parts of the show while waiting for the all clear. Suddenly my phone was ringing in my pocket. It was Michael. Reluctantly, I answered it, hoping I wasn't going to get a barrage of abuse over the phone. To my surprise, and worry, Michael answered sounding really scared.

"Poppy. It's crystal. Please. She's collapsed. I don't know what to do. Oh god. Please hurry." My stomach dropped as I thought about the baby. She'd probably need medical attention yet she still hadn't told Michael about the pregnancy. This was going to be tough.
