Chapter 24
Naomi's PoV
I couldn't have asked for the plan to go any more perfectly. I'd roped Luke in and got him to do the hard part, to put her in the path of my car and he'd done it without hesitation. I wonder just how crappy he feels now, knowing he was a part of that. Knowing that he hurt Poppy.
Chills ran down my spine as I thought about it. She was officially out of the way. She was out of the picture and Calum was mine. I clapped my hands as squealed in delight. This was it, what this whole time had been about. The plan was coming together and now, no one could stop me. Pain and heartache change a person and if I got in there quick enough, I could mould Calum into what I wanted and needed.
Getting dressed quickly, I headed towards the hotel I knew they had been staying at and headed to his room, knocking on the door lightly as I quickly checked to make sure no one saw me enter. Very slowly, the door handle twisted and Calum opened the door looking dishevelled and depressed. He rubbed his eyes tiredly as he finally took me in, his face changing to one of anger seconds later. The sexy smile I had been wearing fell instantly and for the first time ever, my stomach tugged in fear.
"You." He hissed as he grabbed me, pulling me into the room and throwing me on the bed. He stormed over, half angry and half sad, as he pointed at me, jabbing my shoulder with every sentence. "What the fuck are you doing here? Coming to rub it in my face? To try and steal me back?" I shuffled away from him as best I could, trying to keep my smile plastered on as I moved away.
"No, Cal..." I soothed. "I came to check on you. I heard about what had happened and I just wanted to offer my support." I lied easily, trying to put my arms around him. He dodged me easily.
"I'm not an idiot. Luke already told me everything. I know you were behind this. And I'll tell you now, that was the straw that broke the camels back. I don't want you anywhere near me." He spat angrily, hatred fuelling everything about him. It was going to be a hard one to get out of, but as always I had another plan. I furrowed my brows.
"Luke? What about him? I haven't seen him since you were all at breakfast that time." I tried to play dumb. "Calum, I love you and I so desperately want you but I'm not a killer. I could never hurt someone you are with. Why do you think I was trying to get things out on the front page? I'd never want to physically hurt Poppy." It pained me to say her name, but I gritted my teeth and tried my best to follow through with my lie.
"No, you're lying." Of course it'd be hard to convince Calum to turn against his friend and band mate. I handed him a movie screening ticket.
"I was here, watching that."I pointed down at the paper, hoping he'd buy it. Of course I never actually watched the film but had bought the ticket as an alibi. He examined the paper carefully.
"I don't understand. Luke said-"
"Luke said something to get himself out of trouble." I put a hand on Calum's thigh and squeezed it. "He was envious that you and Poppy got to be together so he tried to wipe her out. It's awful what love and jealousy can do to a person." Calum looked torn, and that was all I would need to get myself in there. I was like water finding its way through the tiniest crack in the floor, only to build up and make it worse - make myself known. "I'm so sorry." I pulled him into me as I hugged him. He remained still, his hands by his sides as he still tried to process things. I had him right where I wanted him. Soothing his hair, I moved him to be facing me, his blank eyes staring back at me. "I know I'm not Poppy, but I want to be there for you. To help you through this tough time." I put my hands on either side of his face, relishing the touch as sparks ran up my arms. Within a second, I pulled his face towards mine and kissed him. For a second, he remained frozen before he pulled away from me with his eyes wide.
"Naomi, no." He said sternly, but I knew he didn't really believe what he was saying. I pushed myself closer to him and hooked my legs over his, hoisting myself onto his lap. He froze where he sat but didn't push me off. I grabbed one of his hands and guided it along the curves of my body, hearing him breathe heavily as he did so.
"You want me, Cal. I know you do." I whispered into his ear, my lips catching the bottom of his earlobe before pulling away. I could instantly see the change in him. The sadness had turned into passion. He just needed an outlet for it.
"Naomi..." he said almost reluctantly as I brought my lips to his once again, our kiss becoming fast and furious like we were hungry for each their, starved for so long. Our hands explored each other for a moment, my body feeling tingly everywhere he had touched. As he pulled away from me, I pecked kisses along his neck and collarbone, making sure he never had enough time to talk himself out of it.
I had longed for this for too long and he was finally mine, in my arms again, wanting me. It had taken hurting his fiancée to do it but it was a small price to pay. I had him back in my life.
