Chapter 29 - Celine
"Wakey Wakey, Coneja" Kyron's voice made me jolt upright.
I winced as my head started spinning. Scrambling for support, I stood up and blinked, trying to clear my mind. Those drugs were really starting to piss me the fuck off.
I stared all around me, finding brick walls on both sides, a damp floor that was cold beneath my feet and candles hanging on the floor in a warm golden hue that did nothing to soothe me.
Where was I?
I walked carefully, straining my ears for any sounds. The moment I heard his footsteps somewhere behind me, faint enough but there, I froze.
"I'm giving you a head start. 7 seconds, Coneja." Kyron said and I could almost hear the smile in his voice.
The piece of shit was obsessed with 7.
I took in a deep breath as silently as I could and walked, careful to not make noises. The more I walked, the more I saw brick walls. That's when it hit me.
I was in a labyrinth of sorts..God was there even any way out of this?
"You know I genuinely would have given you a quick death if not for the taser stunt"Kyron's voice sounded closer.
So much for a headstart.
I rolled my eyes and walked quickly, passing down across many different directions. I knew what he was doing. He was baiting me into speaking so he could know where I was. I wasn't running so he couldn't hear my footsteps as he expected.
Well I wasn't dumb fucker.
I changed directions again when I heard his footsteps approaching.
"You can walk as silently as you want, Coneja. I'll still find you. And when I do, it won't be pretty."Kyron said calmly.
I clenched my jaw and walked faster only to stop when I made a dead end, I quickly made a turn and rushed the other way just when his footsteps closed in.
I held my breath. Waiting. The moment his footsteps moved to another direction, I walked quickly in the opposite direction.
Think Celine. Come on.
There has to be a way out of this. There has to be a way out.
"There's no way out Celine. It's a one way labyrinth. Only one way in and I came from there. I carried you in the middle of it myself. You won't leave here, alive." Kyron's voice sounded so close that I jolted back, goosebumps rising on my skin.
I turned around coming face to face with him. Dread pooled in the pit of my stomach at his words.
The piece of shit trapped me.
I stared at him from head to toe noticing his black leather gloves. "No weapons? Thought you said I would have a painful death?"
Kyron smirked, staring at me with a predatory gaze. "Well you did say you would kill me, no? I thought it best to give you a fair fight. No weapons. Just you and me. It will be all the sweeter when I finally choke you. Watching as the life drains from your beautiful green eyes"
"You sound oddly confident. You think because you're a man and physically stronger than me that you will win? Don't underestimate me, Kyron. You wouldn't be the first "I said, hands balling into fists.
Eli's words echoed back in my mind.
Remember, you hit where it hurts. Disarm him. Strike his throat, hurt his eyes. Hit anywhere you can. He might be physically stronger but your brilliant mind, little Flame is your greatest weapon against him.
"Make me bleed, Coneja. I'm waiting." Kyron said, lifting his fingers and beckoning me.
Time to mess with his mind.
"Aren't you one bit ashamed of what you did to those girls? Do you even realise how much Sophia must be hurting right now? How much it must be breaking her up there to watch her younger brother slaughter the feminine race?"I asked, taunting him with the only thing that could potentially hurt him.
His Sister.
I needed him to strike first so I could gauge his actions and retaliate. There was only one way to do that. Provocation.
Kyron's eyes narrowed into slits as he glared at me with a vicious look of pure hatred. "Who do you think you are to speak her name? You don't even know her or what she was like. Do not speak about her."
"What will you do if I do? Kill me? You already plan to do it, bastard. I would have actually sympathised with you if you had stopped at the Martínez family but No, you had to go and kill all these innocent girls who had families, brothers just like Sophia!"I said, voice rising.
Kyron's hand balled into fists. "Don't test my patience, Coneja. Utter one more word and I'll spill your guts right there"
"And with what? Your hands?"I mocked, sneering at him.
"Go ahead. Add another victim to your list. See how that will warm Sophia's heart. I hope when you die by my hands today, you hear her cries of pain from how much sorrow you inflicted on her soul in the afterlife by killing all these girls!"I snapped watching as he closed the distance between us like a bull charging blindly at its target.
His face contorted into something monstrous, a roar of unadulterated fury tearing from his throat. He threw his weight into me, crashing his fists forward. I dodged the first blow instinctively, the rush of wind slicing past my cheek, as I slammed my fist against his rib earning a grunt from him.
Another strike connected hard against my jaw just as I stepped on his left. Pain exploded across my vision. The metallic taste of copper flooded my mouth as I stumbled backward against the freezing brick wall of the labyrinth.
He didn't give me time to breathe. His large hands locked around my throat again, pinning me. My lungs screamed for oxygen.
"You couldn't just shut the fuck up, could you!" Kyron growled, cutting off my air.
Not again, fucker.
Driven by pure survival instinct, I brought my knee up violently into his groin. His grip loosened as he groaned, doubling over. Seizing the fraction of a second I had, I used the brick wall to launch myself upward. I swung my legs around his waist and threw myself onto his back.
He thrashed wildly, trying to dislodge me, but I held on with everything I had. "Get off of me, you bitch"
I wrapped one arm securely around his neck for leverage, and as he reached back to grab me, I struck at his face, catching him across the eyes. I dug my fingers into his eyes pressing as hard as I could until a cry of agony echoed through the subterranean tunnels.
Let's see how well you fight without your eyes.
He recoiled, his hands flying up to cover his face as his vision failed him. He stumbled blindly, completely disoriented in the dark and unable to track my movements.
I slid off his back as he collapsed to his knees. My hands flew down to my waist. With trembling but precise fingers, I unbuckled my heavy leather belt and ripped it through the loops.
He should have taken my belt too. His mistake.
I moved quickly, looping the thick leather around his neck to restrain him, pulling with every single ounce of strength left in my body to end the threat once and for all. We both fell backwards as he thrashed but I tightened the belt even more watching as he started choking. His eyes bleeding a deep red like he was crying rivers of blood.
"You wanted to choke me. Don't you think it's fitting you die by my hands choking just like this?"I asked as I pulled with all my strength, choking breaths leaving him.
"If you.. Kill.. Me.. You.. Will.. Become.. A killer.. Just.. L-Like me.."Kyron stuttered, grabbing the leather biting into his neck and pulling with all his strength but I held on tighter, wrapping my legs around his neck in a headlock to trap him and pulled harder.
"You're wrong. I'm nothing like you. Killing you wouldn't make me like you. You know why? The girls you killed.. The blood you spilled was innocent blood. Yours is not. The feminine race would be glad I'm killing you. Women are not weak. Women are not prey for you to play with and kill as you wish. Women are not your plaything. You are a disgrace to your sister. She loved you dearly and instead of repaying her, you killed girls just like her"I said, breathing heavily from the physical strain of choking that fucker.
Kyron's muscles pulled taut at my words and his fight dimmed. I pulled harder and said the very words I knew would pierce his soul. "You could have stopped. After your revenge, you could have rebuilt your life and done good deeds. But like Dex, you killed innocent people. You might have even killed the sister of someone else just like you. Someone that had no one else but their sister. What did they do to deserve this pain, to deserve losing their sister? You knew how it felt to lose a sibling but you still went ahead and did it. What did I do too to deserve what you put me through?"
Kyron stopped fighting altogether at my words and leaned heavily against me as I pulled tighter. "You.. Don't.. Know.. How.. It feels.. Coneja.. To.. Be ..truly.. alone.. It eats you.. Alive.." He stuttered, his life slowly ebbing away.
I heard footsteps rushing my way and immediately looked up, coming face to face with Eli. He stared at me with wide eyes before instinctively stepping closer. Agnus and the other men all paused, breath hitched. I probably looked unhinged right now.
Maybe it was the rage from Kyron's victims consuming me but I still didn't stop pulling. I couldn't. I needed to make sure he was dead. That he wouldn't come back or survive this. I couldn't let him get to me. Or any other girls. Not again. No. No more deaths.
Eli's eyes flickered with understanding and resignation at the look in my eyes. His shoulders tensed, hands balled into fists but he didn't move from his position. I know he wanted to kill Kyron but I needed to stop him myself for good. To have the certainty of knowing this is it. He's gone.
Eli would never deny me this.
Eli was the type of man who would burn the world down if I asked it of him. And yet he would lay his fire down the moment I said no. That was his way of loving me. An intense devotion, Reverent and sacred yet restrained. He would never go against my wishes.
Only after I was certain, he was truly gone did I loosen my grip. I leaned my head back against the floor staring into the distance, breath heavy as Eli approached. He lifted Kyron's lifeless body off of me but I still didn't move. I stared into his eyes, relief rushing through my veins.
It's over.. Finally.
