Chapter 24

At the end of the day, Emiri was walking out of the building, tapping a few things on her phone as she headed home. She had looked over the list of offers, unsurprisingly her parents agency wasn't among them, though it was the same with her older brother— they wanted them to see how other pros worked before they worked with them.

"Work with the weaker heroes. So you two can see the strength us higher ups hold." They would say to her older brother. She remembered that her older brother hadn't gotten any offers from any hero higher than rank 16 when he first got offers, which disappointed their parents a bit.

As she was lost in her train of thought, Emiri had made her way home. She unlocked the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind her and taking off her shoes.

"Emem!" Someone called and Emiri looked up in shock to see a young man with white hair run up to her.

"T-Toshiaki! What are you doing here?" Emiri asked, looking up at her older brother.

"What? I need a weason to come hwome and swee my bwaby swister?" He asked in a baby voice, squeezing Emiri's cheeks.

Emiri gave him a deadpan looked and slapped away his hand. "I'm not a baby anymore." She finished taking off her shoes and walked past him, "I'm heading upstairs, I have to sort through offers."

"Offers? You can't fool me, lil' sis. I know first years don't get offers!" He placed his hands on his hips and let out a hearty laugh.

"They changed a few things this year. And besides, my class has already faced off real villains so they saw it fit."

There was a loud gasp behind her and immediately Emiri was being held hostage by one of her older brother's bear-like hugs. "My baby swister had to fight villains. That's so scawary!"

I'm going to kill this man— Emiri thought as she struggled to get out of his grip. "Why're you so surprised? It was on the news! Besides, I didn't fight any of them. I managed to avoid that. Geez. Now let me go!"

"No. Let your bwig bwother comfowt you."

Emiri screamed internally and leaned down to bite Toshiaki's arm, feeling his grip around her slacked then disappear as he shouted out in surprise and pulled away. "Stop talking to me like I'm a baby. Now I'm going to my room. Don't bother me." With that she walked up the stairs and went into her room, shutting her door and locking it.

She sat down at her desk and let out a sigh. She hated when her brother came to visit. He never treated her like the age she was and instead treated her like she never grew up and was way too over protective of her. Maybe it was because she was so sick as a kid and wasn't expected to make it past ten. Though still, she was completely fine now so there was no reason for him to be that overprotective of her, and speak to her as if she were a baby.

She let out a sigh and took out the papers that had names of agencies that wanted her. She only had two days to figure out who she wanted to intern with, and she had thousands of offers to go through.

It took a few hours but Emiri had finally narrowed down the list of agencies. To her suprise there were some top agencies that requested her. She got out the paper that Aizawa had handed her earlier that day. She wrote down the names of the agencies she wanted to work with before placing it back in her bag.

"Well, got that all done. Guess it's time to start on homework!"

The rest of the week passed by and soon Emiri found herself standing with the rest of her class at the train station. All of them were about to head off to their internships. Looking around Emiri noticed people were staring at the group in awe.

"Everyone has their costumes, right?" Aizawa asked. "Remember, you don't have permission to wear them out in public yet, and don't loose them or anything."

"Gotcha!" Mina exclaimed.

"Speak properly." Aizawa scolded, "It's yes sir, Ashido."

"Yes sir..."

"Make sure you mind your manners with the other heroes during your internships. Now get to it."

"Yes sir." The class responded, then they all separated, each of them heading to the train they needed to catch.

Emiri noticed Iida walking off, a serious look on his face. Midoriya and Uraraka ran up to him and they exchanged a few words before they parted. She knew Iida was headed to Hosu— she should say something.

"Iida!" She called out, seeing the dark blue haired boy turn around.

"Oh, Koyama."

"I know you're going to Hosu. If I were you I'd be careful. You don't want to get hurt."

Iida looked taken slightly aback— the look in her eyes made him feel like she knew something he didn't. "I can't promise anything. But, I'll try my best." He said, giving Emiri a reassuring smile before he turned back around and walked away.

Emiri took a deep breath before she turned back around and pulled out the address of the agency she was going to. "So I'm headed to Naruhata. That train is... right over here."

The agency she was going to was a few blocks away from the train station. She soon stopped in front of a large building— which looked more like a ninja dojo than anything. Her grip tightened around the case that held her hero costume and she walked up the stairs. She opened the door and peeked inside.

"Hello?" She called out only to be met with silence. There was a faint rustle from her left and she noticed some quick movement in the corner of her eye- though before she could move her muscles seized up and she fell onto her knees, unable to move.

"You're slow. If you're going to be working with me for the next week you're going to need to improve your reflexes and your reaction time." A man started unfolding in front of her and eventually Emiri was eye to eye with the pro hero she was going to be working with during the oncoming week. The number 5 ranked hero; Edgeshot.

"Y-yes sir." She said, her words coming out slight slurred.

Edgeshot nodded and turned around, "I hit one of your key pressure points. your paralysis should wear off in a few minutes. Once you're able to move again, change into your hero costume and meet me in the training room." With that he walked down the hall and turned left— where Emiri assumed was where she was supposed to meet him.

Emiri sighed, and waited for the paralysis ware off.

It was about five minutes later when she was able to move again. She slowly grabbed her case and stood up, looking for a bathroom to change into her hero costume, luckily a bathroom wasn't too hard to find.

She locked the door, and placed her case on the counter, looking down at what was inside. She had requested a change in costume after the USJ incident, feeling that her's wasn't necessarily fit for what she wanted.

Her new costume looked like something a figure skater would wear. It was a one shoulder black and cream unitard with a skirt. There were a few stripes on the top portion of the outfit as well as blue crystal-like flowers on the shoulder strap half of the top portion on the white side. She also had tights that cut off at mid thigh and were open toe that had strands of her DNA woven into it so it would transform along with her legs without being ripped. The only thing she kept from her old costume was the visor that held information on both villains and heroes.

She finished changing and placed her school uniform in the bag, and walked out of the bathroom, a determined expression on her face. She was ready.

Emiri headed into the room and looked up at Edgeshot, who was standing in front of her silently with his arms crossed. Emiri was on high alert— with the move he pulled a bit earlier she didn't want to be taken off guard a second time.

"Why did you choose me?" He asked, breaking the silence between them.

Emiri was surprised by the question but was quick to answer, "Your skills are turned towards striking by surprise, hiding in the dark until the best moment possible to reveal yourself. I.. I want to be like that. I want to strike down my opponent when they least expect it."

Edgeshot closed his eyes and nodded. "I can see that you're motivated. Very well then. I'll teach you something to start off your training. Listen up, because I'm going to tell you about pressure points."

***

Edgeshot taught Emiri about the critical pressure points— since she couldn't fold her body like him and paralyze someone from the inside— she learned about pressure points that could paralyze limbs or knock someone out.

"I expect you to be able to use these on my by the end of the week. We'll have daily training sessions where your goal will be to either knock me out or paralyze a limb." Edgeshot said. "Understand?"

Emiri nodded her head, "Yes sir!"

"Good. Now, we're going out." He said, walking towards the door.

"Going out? Where?" Emiri asked, scrambling to stand up and follow after him.

"It's nighttime. We're going out on patrol."

I wasn't really satisfied with her old costume, so here's Emiri's new costume!
