Chapter 90: Naruto's Goodbye... To Nia

"Oh, come on!" Naruto groaned. "Just tell me if you're a boy or girl, ya know."

Naruto was in the middle of confronting the armadillo, whom was in love with him, about their gender, as well as all the other animals.

"She's shy, Naruto," Bee told him. "Just call it a girl."

"I mean, it does look like a girl," Nia commented.

"Doesn't mean they are one though," Naruto replied, before jumping onto its back. "I mean, look at this! The kanji written on its shell thing says male."

"Maybe it's just the pattern," Bee reasoned.

Naruto frowned.

Nia sweat dropped.

He's taking this fake mission so seriously... but I guess... he does think it's an S rank one though... so it kinda makes sense...

As Naruto continued on, outside was another story. A giant purple snake had attacked the island turtles tail, causing it to scream so loud, it was heard miles away by the Tsuchikage and his subordinates, who had ambushed Kabuto and a reanimated Deidara. Soon, things would get bad as the snaked attacked the back of the turtle, causing the entire place to shake.

"What the hell?" Naruto said as he was on the ground after falling.

"Baby..." Nia groaned as she also had fell to her bottom.

"Sweet Nia, come here," The blond told her, to which she did, but just as she made it to him, the island had suddenly flipped, causing everyone to free fall.

"Kyaaaa!" Nia screamed as this happened.

"NIAAA!" Naruto immediately wrapped his arms around her and turned over so that he'd be the one to hit the ground first.

"Wood style: Deep Forest Emergence!" Yamato performed a few hand seals as bushes began to appear, giving everyone some cushion to fall into.

When they had, Naruto checked on Nia, to which she said she was fine.

"The hell is going on today?!" He questioned.

"I can't believe it, but it seems the heavens and the earth really did trade places, fool ya fool," Bee replied.

Naruto stood up and his eyes spotted the armadillo who was on their back, their digit showing to the entire world.

"HAH! I KNEW IT!" Naruto exclaimed, while the rest of the animals who sought for the armadillo's attention had tears streaming down their faces. "You know the entire world might flip over, but a male is still a male."

"Aheheheheeeh," Nia chuckled before sweatdropping at the sight.

Now... I guess there's no reason for me to fight over Naruto with that thing.

Yamato would go on to scold Naruto, but Aoba reminded him that what Naruto was doing was supposed be a fake S rank mission. The men knew that something was going on outside but also knew that they had to maintain their cover story for the sake of the jinchuurikis.

A few minutes later, the island vibrated again and Naruto had he and Nia bend down, his arms over her head to protect her from any debris that might've fallen. When the shaking stopped, he and Nia approached Yamato, Aoba, and Matoi.

"There... sure has been a lot of earthquakes today, haven't you noticed, Naruto?" Yamato nervously laughed, trying to play everything off.

"Yeah, you're right about that," Aoba joined in.

"Yeah, but still... this is way too weird," Naruto responded. "How does a earthquake flip the whole world, ya know?"

Yamato gave an excuse, but Naruto didn't seem to buy it, insisting he'd take a look outside.

Nia gulped.

Oh crap... this isn't good.

"Err... you can't... cause you have to continue your vital S rank mission, so you gotta stay focused!" Yamato said.

"Yeah... well maybe I'll just go up there and take a quick looksy," Naruto replied.

"But baby..." Nia chimed in, "You, uh... have to protect the babies and I in here. I mean the male animals keep trying to take me away from you."

"I'm sure you'll be fine, sweetheart. I'll only be gone for a minute."

"Naruto!" Yamato got in the blond's face. "It's a ninja's sworn duty to see the mission through until completion! And this particular mission is in YOUR hands. Only you can accomplish it... that's why you were selected, Naruto. Understood?!"

Yamato then backed away.

"Us other men will see what's going on outside. That's honestly the only way we can lend a hand, but, let me repeat it! You are still in the middle of an important S rank mission."

Everyone worried that Naruto grew too suspicious. Nia wanted to tell him that something was definitely up, but wasn't quite sure if that was the right move to make.

"All right!" Naruto pumped his fist anyway. "I'm gonna focus on my S rank mission then, ya know!"

The three other men sighed a breath of relief.

Thank goodness he's SO dense, Aoba thought.

So Yamato and the two others went to the outside while Naruto continued with his mission alongside Nia. Amidst of all that happened, the turtle once more flipped over and Yamato never returned from the outside. Naruto's suspicions grew as a result, but Bee and Nia came up with a plan that would require Naruto to train in bijuu mode, stacking some stones atop one another, enhancing his skills.

"Nia," Aoba brought Nia over to the side, out of earshot from Naruto.

"Yes? What did you need to talk about?" She tilted her head.

"Things are getting really bad. Yamato's been captured."

"What?!"

"Shhh," Aoba hushed her. "Right now... everyone's gathering up for the war."

"S-So... it really is happening, huh?" She lowered her eyes.

"Yes... our friends along with everyone else is out there ready for battle," Aoba said. "I know... you're unable to participate due to you being pregnant, but just know that you just being here helped everyone immensely."

Nia placed her hand on her belly.

"I can't help, but feel bad that everyone's risking their life trying to save the world while I'm..."

"No, it's nothing you should feel bad about. After all, you're carrying the next generation of shinobi in your belly. Especially that of a future kage's, I'm sure."

"Naruto..." Nia glanced over at the blond as he struggled with his task. "Are you sure... you guys don't need him and Bee... in this war? I mean, I feel like they would help a ton!"

"No, they must be protected!" Aoba told her. "No matter what happens, Naruto must not find out all that is going on outside. It's crucial for them to stay hidden!"

"I... see..."

"Besides..." The man rested his hands on Nia's shoulders. "You and Naruto are planning to marry one day, right? Not only that, but you'll be giving birth to his babies in the next several months... Imagine if Naruto finds out about what's going on and rushes into the battlefield, but in the process gets killed... You wouldn't have the father of your children nor the man you wish to marry with you and your babies any longer. Don't you... fear that?"

"Of course I do! I haven't gotten that thought out of my head, but-"

"Then make sure Naruto is safe here... with you."

"Aoba..."

"Now I gotta go. The war is about to start. Please Nia, take care!" Aoba smiled before taking off.

"Aoba, wait-"

The man had disappeared from Nia's sight.

She turned her attention back to Naruto's training. However, when it came time for him to do part two of his training, Nia decided she'd leave that to him and go outside to clear her head. While outside, she thought deeply about the villagers and how everyone was preparing for war. The thought of bloodshed crossed her mind. She didn't like the thought of thousands losing their lives.

A lot of time passed and due to Bee's negligence, Naruto made his way out of the room, only to be stopped by Iruka and his men. There they'd try to convince Naruto to stay hidden but Naruto wasn't buying anything they were saying. He rushed to the outside, pushing through a couple men to get through, and that's when... he sensed it.

His comrades going into battle, the amount of blood being shed, the emotions coming from everyone... the war itself.

"What is this?!" His eyes were wide with disbelief.

"Madara Uchiha... has declared war," Iruka said.

He would go onto explaining everything that had happened and even tried to stop Naruto by putting up a seal. However, the genin broke out of it and eventually got away from his former sensei.

"I can't believe this..." Naruto hopped branch to branch. "This whole time... everyone's been keeping this from me."

When he looked at his headband, he found there was a note attached to it. It was written by Iruka and the words he had written in it had touched Naruto so much so that he ate the paper to keep his words in him forever.

"Huh?" Naruto landed on the ground once he seen that someone walked out from behind a tree.

Their features appeared to be saddened and it was evident that they were feeling a mixture of emotions. Naruto felt his heart tug at him at the sight of them.

"Nia..." He breathed ever so gently.

"So... you figured it out, huh?" She mumbled.

Naruto only gazed at her.

"Yeah..." He nodded.

"You must be... upset with me... for keeping such a secret from y-"

"I am mad," Naruto was blunt. "Sweetie, of all the people I thought who would give me the rundown... who wouldn't keep such important things from me... who would tell me everything with no secrets between us... would be you, ya know?"

"It's only right... for you to be mad," Nia lowered her eyes. "But even so..."

She clenched her fists.

"This is a full on war we're talking about... Naruto. A war... to protect you," She breathed. "I understand you wanna go out there and fight. That you wanna go out there and protect your friends, but Naruto..."

Tears emerged in Nia's eyes as she locked eyes with him.

"Don't you forget! Don't be so naive! This is the Fourth Great Ninja War! There's always remains a possibility that you could-"

"Die?" Naruto finished for her.

Nia was caught off guard by his word.

"I know full well... that there's always that possibility," Naruto lowered his eyes. "That anyone's lives can be taken from them in a secon-"

"Then why...?" Nia bit her wobbling lip. "Why are you going... knowing you can die? Why are you going when you know that you could possibly leave behind two b-baby girls... and a woman who loves you with all her h-heart?"

With this, Nia's tears broke loose and she silently started to cry.

Naruto felt a stab in his heart that he couldn't shake off. He always hated seeing Nia cry. He always hated when something caused her pain. He always hated when he had to leave her side.

"I... have to go, sweetie," He told her. "They... need me out there."

"But Naruto-"

"Yes... I know... you're scared. I know... you're terrified. I felt... all your pain before coming here to see you. So much trauma... so much sorrow... so much suffering... in your heart."

"Oh N-Naruto..."

"Besides what you're feeling now about this whole war situation, I felt the pain you were bearing in other areas too. Nia..." Naruto walked up to her and rested his hand on her cheek. "I sense it... it's not nearly as much as before... but you still struggle... with self hatred and insecurity... don't you?"

Nia only continued crying.

"Not only that, but you still feel some resentment toward me for getting you pregnant when you weren't ready. It's faint, but it's still there, ya know," Naruto exposed. "And another thing... there's something going on with you and Hinata... I'm not sure what it is exactly but I can feel from your side that you two aren't really getting along for whatever reason."

Nia refused to say anything.

"Nia..." Naruto cupped her chin.

"..."

"Nia." Naruto was stern.

Hearing the seriousness in his voice, Nia glanced upward.

"You are truly... the best thing that has EVER happened to me," Naruto's voice was full of love. "There's not a damn thing I would change about you. There's not a damn thing I would do to ever lose your love. You've stuck by my side this entire time. You done and did everything you could for someone like me. In all honesty, I never deserved such a beautiful and loving girlfriend like you. You fought with me, you laughed with me, you cried with me, you accepted me and you... even loved me."

"N-Naruto..." Nia croaked.

Naruto grinned his famous grin.

"I love you more than any ant that's ever been on this planet! Our love is so strong, that not even death could keep us apart, ya know!"

Hearing this, Nia sobbed.

Naruto tried to wipe her tears with his thumbs.

"I'm sorry for everything I've ever done to hurt you. Even right now... as I'm prepared to head out for war. My plan is to not only defend everyone and everything I love... but it's to protect you... and our little girls."

At that instant, Nia felt a sensation in her stomach.

"N-Naruto..." Her eyes widened in shock. "I... I can feel them... I can... feel the babies!"

"What?!" Naruto gasped and immediately got down to his knees.

He lifted her top up and saw as her belly seemed to have been moving. Pairs of feet were making a print on her stomach.

"DADDY'S BABIES!" Naruto cried with excitement as he began to kiss the spot where the babies feet would hit every time it made a print on Nia's skin. "MWAH! MWAH! MWAH! DADDY LOVES YOU! DADDY LOVES YOU, YA KNOW!"

"O-Oh Naruto..." Nia was moved by the way he was interacting with their baby girls.

He would then express to Naruta and Nisaki how much he loves them and how he plans on raising them and for them to stay safe with their mommy as he prepares to go to war to protect them. When he was done, he pulled Nia into an embrace and kept her the closest he's ever had.

"Naruto... I... I don't want you to go," Nia still wept.

"I have to... I have to protect this world... I have to protect the villagers, my friends, the babies... you, Nia."

"..."

"I... won't die," Naruto said. "I promise that on my life, Nia."

"Baby..." Nia sniffled.

"I have to still become hokage... I have to take care of our baby girls... I have to marry you, sweetheart."

"Naruto?"

"Yes?"

"You've made me feel so happy..." Nia expressed.

Naruto smiled.

"Nia... I need you to reside at Mt. Myoboku... until the war is over."

"Huh? But-"

"You'll... be safe there... no one will come to harm you," Naruto told her. "And also, before I go... there's something I need to tell you... my mom wanted me to give you a message."

"Your mom?! You mean-"

"Yeah... I had the chance to meet her when I took down the Nine Tails. She was a huge reason why I was able to do it. I was so happy... to finally have met her."

"I-I'm so happy for you. She really did seem like an amazing person."

"Yeah but anyway, this is what she wanted me to tell you..." Naruto then told Nia his mother's words.

Upon hearing them, a new batch of tears raced down her cheeks.

"I'm gonna get going now..." Naruto held her hands. "Just remember, Nia... your hero promises to be back safe and sound... and that... he loves you... with every fiber in his body, ya know."

With that, Naruto planted a soft kiss onto Nia's lips. There they melted in the other's affection, holding onto one another desperately as neither was too sure about their fates. All they knew was that they loved eachother and that nothing would ever truly separate them.

"Naruto..." Nia cried when they broke their kiss. "I love you... no matter what. Forever and always, my hero."

"I love you too, beautiful. I truly do. Goodbye... for now..." Naruto gave her one last grin as he blushed then a moment later... he was gone.

A subtle wind blew as Nia thought of what his mother had told her.

Thank you... for loving my son. Please... take good care of him.

Nia closed her eyes and placed a closed fist to her heart.

I will...

And so, Nia was brought to Mt. Myoboku, where she would watch the events of the war play out through a crystal ball. Many times, she cried and even feared for the lives of everyone. She watched as legendary battles ensued, lives were lost, and even saw as Sasuke paired with the good side to take down the enemies. There was a few moments she fainted and took a while to get back on track with everything that was going on but the toads were there to comfort and be at her side.

Thankfully though, the Shinobi alliance turned out to be the victors and Nia balled her eyes out at the fact that they had won. She even witnessed as Naruto faced Sasuke and nearly died when she saw that Naruto had lost his arm.

"OHHH NARUTOOOO!" She embraced the blond and sobbed the most she's ever had once leaving Mt. Myoboku and seeing Naruto for the first time since the war.

"Sweetie..." Naruto blushed as he used his free hand to rub her back and hold her close to him.

Most watched the two with smiles on their faces.

Finally... the war had ended.

A/N - Hold on... before y'all trip... the story hasn't ended. There's still about ten chapters left before we come to the end of this story. If I keep up with the updates, it should be done in either May or June.

And yes, sorry I didn't do the war, but what could I do? Nia was pregnant lol
