~Colloquy
"Everything's been going great, you know? Almost too great," I sigh as I snag a bite of my cheese sandwich. My mouth is full as I continue frustratingly, "I mean... we're going to have to talk about the fact that I'm still married eventually."
Jenny just sits there, trying to wrap her head around the fact that I was in a very committed relationship over a decade ago with a small-town mechanic, who years later, is now Chief of Surgery at one of the greatest hospitals and we both managed to reunite under unforeseeable circumstances. Along with the fact that we're now together again.
What did I say? I only knew Jenny for a year prior, it wasn't exactly something I go telling around to everybody.
She spurted out, "Wait, I'm sorry, Enrique Romano?"
I roll my head to get the tension from my neck, "Yes, Enrique Romano," She opens her mouth to speak again and so I continue, "Yes, the doctor, Enrique Romano," I issue, knowing that that was going to be her next incredulous question.
Her mouth forms in the shape of an 'O', "I— I mean, I don't even know what to say D," She shakes her head swiftly, "Okay, I'm sorry, what exactly is the problem here? He seems amazing,"
I wave my hand dismissively, "Of course he is, he really is," I pause. "The problem is... if we drag out this... honeymoon phase till the very end, it'll be harder to readjust when the storm begins to brew," I lick my lips.
"You need to stop worrying about what can happen, Demiah, and start living in what's happening now," She finally comes down and takes a seat next to me. "Now, I'm the first person to see the rational sides of things, and jumping into a relationship when you're not even divorced yet is far from rational," She then leans closer and lowers her voice as if someone's watching us. "Not to mention the fact what'll happen if Titus' attorney catches even a sniff of your infidelity during the divorce. He'll make the process for you a living hell," She shakes her head.
I open my mouth and begin to object, wanting to state that Titus was unfaithful all during our marriage, but she shuts me up, "The point I am trying to make is... you deserve even just an ounce of happiness, Demiah, even if everything turns to hell at the end. You thought you could've fooled me with those fake smiles and waves you always did? Think again, sweetheart,"
I stare at her though my eyelashes, "So you say I just go home and forget the fact that in a matter of weeks this could all blow up in my face and be the biggest mistake of my life?"
She presses her lips tight together before saying, "Or it could be the best risk you ever made," She pauses. "Plus I think the biggest mistake of your life would be Titus." She says sarcastically before walking away.
We both laugh.

Hands hooked under my knee, dress hiked up to my waist, lips parted in ecstasy and neck craned backward to gaze at the ceiling.
"Slow down, slow down," I whisper breathlessly, biting harshly down on Enrique's shoulder. I hold tightly onto his shoulder to keep his body still and in that spot in me that makes my head roll to the back my head.
He listens and instead moves his hips in slower, and more rhythmic motions against me, "I have a surgery in an hour," He breathes into my hair. The palms of his hands leave the crease of my knee and trails down my thigh.
I shush him with a kiss on his lips as I try to concentrate on not orgasming right here on the bathroom sink in his office at work.
"Shh, shh, you'll make it," I place a gentle finger on his lips, which he takes between his teeth roughly. I look into his eyes as I speak, "You'll make it, it's just downstairs." I hum.
He smiles at me, moving the motion of his hips faster which causes me to clench around him. He groans into my neck seductively, which unfortunately only lasts a little while due to the ringing of his phone.
It is my turn to groan, "Why didn't you leave that on your desk?" I complain impolitely. I hold him closer to me by wrapping my legs around his waist. "Leave it," I whine.
"You know I cant do that, baby," He smiles at my childish ways. He proceeds to withdraw from my gently before pulling up his pants to settle on his hips, belt still unbuckled and zipper still down enough for me to see the trail of hair leading down to what was just seconds ago just inside of me.
I huff before leaning back unsatisfied while staring at him as he retrieves his phone from his back pocket.
"Hello?" He answers. He takes note of the unimpressed look on my face as I wait impatiently, tapping my fingers against the counter.
He shakes his head in amusement, and thinks he can make it better by placing a kiss on my cheek as he places the call between his shoulder and hair and zips his pants up.
I sigh, knowing this phone call had to be important. I jump down from the counter before turning towards the mirror and looking at my disheveled form.
I straighten out my hair for a few seconds and then proceed to whip out my makeup from my back to reapply some foundation to my cheeks. When finished, I take out my lip gloss and gently turn the bottom of it to reveal the seductive red colour I had on before.
I lean closer to the mirror to slowly and carefully smooth the stick over my lips, smiling gently at myself in the mirror when I see how well it was applied.
Leaning in just a bit closer, I place a kiss on the smack centre of the mirror as I see Enrique watching me through the mirror. I watch him.
I place my products back into my bag before deciding to leave if it wasn't for Enrique's hand pulling me back for me to rest against his body.
He leans in to kiss me, phone still attached to his ear but I shake my head in disapproval, pointing to my newly-applied lips.
He rolls his eyes, his body perking up again when the person comes back to the line, "Yes, yes, I'm still here," He says.
I try to listen in to his conversation but in the end all I could hear were a slur of voices in disarray.
"Put him on the phone," Enrique uses his other hand to tiredly rub his hand down his face. Almost as soon as he says this, there was a loud and old voice on the other line, talking over Enrique's own voice and he tried to get a word in, "Dad, Dad..." More unhappily rumblings and the man's voice mixed with some females' voice. "You need to eat your food and stop making it so difficult for Charlotte. Come on, Pa."
I straighten my back at last word. It was his father. A memory of the last time I visited him popped back into my head. It was after I had seen Enrique for the first time again and I went to see him, a large part of my brain wanting him to tell me to stay away from his son. He knew of this plan, however, even in his frail state of mind.
Being caught up with thinking, I didn't even realize that he was already ending the call and leaning his tall form in my shoulder to groan loudly into my neck.
"Is everything okay?" I question softly.
His reply was tired and instant, "Yes, and no." A pause. "It's my father, he's just giving everyone a hard time at Assisted Living," He licks his lips, "I'm going to be bringing him home for a few days, means I'll have to have nursing care twenty-four-seven though." As he says this, he's already on the phone going through his contacts. "I mean— I would have him home with me all the time if I could but I'm rarely ever home and he's so stubborn talking about how he doesn't want to intrude and—" I stop him as I try to calm him down.
"Enrique, Enrique, calm down," I shush him. "You don't have to explain anything to me. Honestly, I get it," I gently rub up and down his arm. He smiles down softly at me, "Look I'll tell you what. I can't stand just sitting alone in my apartment when you're at work, and I'm pretty sure Jenny's getting sick and tired of seeing my face, I can stop by on evenings and help out with your father," I try.
Enrique shakes his head instantly, "You don't have to do that, Miah. Really, I don't want to burden you with this,"
I shake my read in return as well, "Enrique, seriously, it's fine. I have nothing else to do. Plus, Your father and I have some catching up to do anyways," I try to smile.
He does the same, "Miah, I appreciate this so much," He grabs on to my hips. "But they'll always be a nurse there. Let them do what they're paid to do, don't go around doing unnecessary things," He warns. "Pa'll be so happy to see you,"
I hum in disagreement, "I'm not so sure about that."
Enrique tilts his head to the side in confusion, "What'd you mean? He loves you," He explains.
I purse my lips, "He loved me," I clarified. "But I'm sure you understand the resentment for the girl who broke his son's heart. Can't blame him,"
Enrique caresses the side of my face, "Come on, Demiah, that was over a decade ago. If I can forgive you, so can he. He can't hold a grudge,"
I raise my eyebrows at him which causes him to change his answer, "Okay, okay, he's a stubborn old bastard, maybe he can hold a grudge," He laughs. "But I know..." He comes closer and begins to kiss the side of my neck, "You can win over anyone," He pulls away to finally lay one last kiss on my lips. I wasn't that convinced when he pulled away and he saw that, "Just let him see how sorry you are, that'll be enough," He says.
I finally nod my head, "Okay fine." I grab my purse form the counter. "Give me your key, I'll go and make your place wheel-chair friendly," I hold out my hand.
He pulls the a set of keys from his back pocket and I go to grab it but he withholds it from me, "To be continued?" His eyes gesture to the counter seductively.
I roll my eyes and snatch the keys from his hand, "To be continued."
