Chapter Nine

I sat across from him. We stared at each other. Waiting for the other to speak and break the silence we created.

"What are we going to do when school is over?" I questioned.

He sighed, "Let's not talk about that."

I tilted my head, "Why?"

"It makes me sad." He looked away.

I scooted closer, "How come?"

He scooted back, "You'll see soon enough."

"You're confusing me." I don't like it when he does this.

"Just leave it be." He waved it off.

I shook my head scooting closer, "No, tell me."

He sighed scooting back, "Why can't you listen to me and just leave it alone."

"I can't and you know that." I scooted a little closer.

He scooted back a little, "Just leave it be."

I scooted closer some more, "No, I want to know."

"I said you'll find out soon enough, now just leave it." He sighed scooting back more.

I huffed and scooted closer. I watched him move back more. It's irritating me. I moved forward and he moved back. I came closer, he grew farther. I grounded my teeth. I moved some more and he hit the wall.

"Stop moving away from me." I looked at him from under my eyelashes.

He sighed leaning his head against the wall "Stop coming closer."

I rubbed my temple, "Why?"

"Just don't."

I messed up my hair, "Why are you doing this to me?"

He closed his eyes, "I'm not doing anything." He stared at me.

"Stop. Doing. That." I hissed through my teeth.

He raised his eyebrow at me, "Doing what?"

I waved my hands at him, "This! What you're doing right now."

"What am I doing?" He tilted his head.

I huffed, "Not making sense."

He sat up, "I don't understand."

I groaned, "Of course you don't!" I covered my face with my hands.

Cold hands wrapped around mine and slowly pulled them away. I looked up in surprise and stared into his jade green eyes. I felt stuck. I snapped out of it when he cupped my cheek. I placed my hand on top of his, it felt cold. "Your hands are cold." I looked up into his eyes.

He nodded giving me a small smile, "I know."

"Why are they cold?" I rubbed my hands against his.

"I'm just feeling a little under the weather, that's all." He kissed my temple. It felt cold.

I looked at him. He looked fine. "Are you sure?"

He nodded, petting my hair down from it's messy state "I'm sure." I nodded and hugged him. He felt cold to the touch. Something was wrong. I just couldn't tell what it was. It was confusing to feel how cold he was when the heater was on full blast.
