It takes more than magic to make a wizard/witch.
It takes dedication. It takes heart. It takes hope and light and love because isn't that sort of what Harry Potter is all about?
It takes actually feeling something, deep inside of you, urging you on to do, in the words of Mr. Ollivander, great things.
It takes a wand-- a wand that chooses you. A wand, a Something that connects with you deep inside and tugs you into its world.
I may not have magic. But I've been to Hogwarts, I've seen Petrified people in the halls, I've experienced the Triwizard Tournament, I've trained with the DA, I've hunted for Horcruxes. I've cried when fellow classmates and friends and distant Unsung heroes have died, I've smiled at the pure obliviousness of Harry, I've laughed at the amazingly pure sassiness of those freakin' sassy characters, I've walked into the Forbidden Forest with Harry to come face-to-face with Voldemort and hope against hope that it will save everyone, that it will save Professor McGonagall and Ginny and Krum and Luna and Hagrid and Fang and everyone else that I grew up with, that follow me still throughout my life as I have followed them through theirs countless times. I feel tears in my eyes because though I may not have magic, though I can visit Harry Potter's world only through books, and through the countless inspirational whims of a (in the words of Ron Weasley) bloody brilliant fandom, Something still found me. Still touched me deep inside and tugged me into its world. And I feel everything at once and yet I do believe that the only words I can put to my mind, heart and soul right now are not words at all, but a light, a light that I can turn on even in the darkest of times, to find happiness. It feels like shedding off a Cloak of Invisibility after many years, to greet what is waiting for me. It feels like the knowledge that I can always, always ask myself, After all this time? (After all the long eight years that have passed since I first became a Potterhead, at five years old?)
And still get the answer back: Always.

I may not have magic that I can use to cast spells, and Apparate, and become an Animagus, but I am still a witch. Always.
