Chapter 7
Chapter 7
*Isabella Murray*
The next morning, the hot sun beamed, its rays going through the white curtain making me flinch. As soon as my vision came back, I heard a knock on the door.
"Hey Bella, you in there?" A gentle voice asked still knocking on the door.
"Yeah, come in." I said sitting up on my bed.
She twisted the door knob gently and came in with a smile plastered on her face. "Hey." She greeted calmly sitting on the edge of the bed. "How you doing?"
"You heard what happened huh?" I asked looking her straight in the eye but she looked away.
"Yeah, Sally called and I watched the news yesterday. I can't believe he did that! He is such a jerk!" Amber said her voice rising.
"That's why I didn't want him to come back in my life again. I mean, c'mon, it's only been three days and he ruined my entire life already. That must be a new record." I chuckled sarcastically.
"You're one tough girl, you know that? No matter what you're going through right now, you still manage to joke around."
"What do you want me to do? Stay in bed forever? Give up in life and cry my heart out every single day? The world's not going to stop spinning to wait for me and get back on. I have to face this now." I said trying to persuade myself. After everything I've been through, I think this was nothing compared to the other ones.
"That's why I love you. You never give up no matter what. Stay strong for me okay?" Amber said pulling me into a hug. After almost a minute of hugging, she pulled back and looked me in the eye.
"Now tell me." She began. "What's really the deal between you and Logan?"
"You really wanna know? I'm sure when you find out, you'll hate him forever."
"I already hate the guy. I mean first, he acted all sweet and innocent but the truth is he's an evil monkey; second, he kidnapped you and thought it was fun bringing me along, and now, he's hurting my best friend. How much more can I hate the guy?" She said rolling her eyes.
I told her everything starting from when my parents died and how Logan was the only one who actually made me smile. For two years since my parents died, he was the one who was always there for me until his parents decided to move to England. I was devastated and hoping that he wouldn't go since he was the only one who I really cared about. And I also told Amber that before he left, he told me that he was in love with me and he'll come back for me but before he can even come back, he was already engage to Princess Rosalie which broke my heart. I know that even now, I still have feelings for him but after what he did, I don't know anymore.
"So you're telling me that you love Logan?" Amber grinned.
"I loved him." I corrected emphasizing the word loved. "Besides, after what he did today, I don't know anymore." I sighed.
"Okay.... Whatever you say...." Amber teased cheerfully.
"Amber please, don't make a big fuss out of this." I said annoyed. "Don't forget what he just did to me. He hurt your best friend and ruined her life."
"Yeah, I'm sorry. You're probably right. So, what's your plan now?" She asked.
"I don't know." I sighed. "I guess go with the flow." I shrugged unsure of what to do. "I wasn't expecting any of this to happen to me."
"Well, call me if you need any help. I have to go. School's starting soon." She announced giving me a warm smile and pulling me into a hug.
"Thanks for coming."
"I'll see you later." She said as she shut the door behind.

My sweat trickled down my face as I walked to the building with my sunglasses on. I knew how ridiculous it was but I was desperate. I gotta keep my head in the game if I still wanted to live. I entered through censored door and made my way to the receptionist.
"Hi." She greeted with a smile plastered on her face. "Can I help you?"
"Yeah, uh, I was hoping to apply for a job here." I responded politely as I took my shades off and put it in my bag.
"Oh, an applicant. Well, I'll call someone to escort you there." She said as she took the phone and punched a button. "Yeah, hi. I need an assistant to escort an applicant here please. Thank you." She said on the phone then hang up. "Just wait for a few more minutes, thank you for your patience." She smiled as I smiled back at her.
I took a deep sigh, relieve that she haven't notice me yet and that I was on the newspaper just yesterday. Several seconds later, a girl on a blazer with a matching skirt came and grinned at me.
"Hi, you must be the applicant?" She asked as I nodded my head in response. "Follow me please." She commanded politely. I followed her making our way to the office where I'll get interviewed. On our way there, I heard some employees gossiping and whispering about me and how they saw me on the newspaper.
"Wasn't she that girl?"
"Yeah, I heard she kissed the Prince forcefully. How desperate is that?"
"Talk about slut."
Ouch that one hurt. I bowed my head down while my hair covered my face. I felt tears pooled in my eyes but I quickly resist the feeling of crying in front of these people.
"Please, just take a seat and someone will call you when it's your turn." The girl who led me to the office said as she gestured me to sit on the couch in the waiting room.
"Thanks." I replied giving her one of my famous fake smiles. She nodded in return and walked to the opposite direction as I sat on the couch waiting patiently to be called. There were about three people waiting as well and I felt nervous that I might not get the job since everyone looks like they were on their mid-20 and 30.
After half an hour, they finally called me. Two more people came after me waiting and sitting in the waiting room. An employee opened the door for me and I entered looking straight to the guy sitting behind the desk. He was wearing a black suit with a matching tie. He looked frustrated but I smiled at him anyway and sat down to the chair facing him. He looked like he was about thirty years old or maybe older.
He sighed. "Can I see your resume?" He asked reaching his hand out. I quickly gave him the folder I was holding that contained my resume. He scanned the paper but his face was emotionless.
"So you're only seventeen?" He questioned.
"Yes." I answered smiling at him which he didn't responded to, instead he looked back to my resume then looked up at me again.
"So you haven't graduated yet?"
"No not yet, but I'm graduating soon -"
"I don't want to hear it." He said cutting me off raising his hand to stop me. "Look, we need someone that can work full time and I'm expecting someone who has experiences before. It says here in your resume that the only experience you have is working in a day care and a restaurant. Just to remind you miss..." He trailed off raising his eyebrow waiting for my response.
"Murray." I answered.
"Miss Murray that you're applying to a business company, not a restaurant." He shook his head.
"Sorry to waste your time." I managed to choke out as I stood up and made my way to the door. "Thank you anyway." I smiled sheepishly. My hand was almost on the doorknob until the door flung open hitting my head making me land on my butt.
"Ow." I cried rubbing the spot where the door hit me.
"I am so sorry." A guy apologized kneeling down beside me. He looked at me with his sparkling green eyes, worried flashed through his eyes. He was wearing a suit and he looked about in his twenties. He ruffled his shaggy blonde hair and waited for me to react.
"How many fingers am I holding up?" He asked sticking three fingers up.
"Three..." I answered squinting my eyes.
"Sir Chase, you're here." The guy who was sitting behind the desk said standing up.
"Yeah, hey Phil, would you mind getting her some ice?" He asked looking up at him.
"No sir." Phil replied as he got out shutting the door behind.
Chase held my hand and helped me stand up. He led me to a chair as I plopped down on it. He slowly removed my hand that was still rubbing the part where the door hit me and brought it to my sides. He studied at my forehead carefully and traced his finger where it hurts. His finger burned through my skin and the tingling sensation started to rise in me.
"Ow." I moaned as he pressed a little harder on the bump.
"Sorry." He said never leaving his sight on my forehead. "Next time don't stand next to the door." He said politely.
"Oh now it's my fault." I snapped yanking his hand away from my forehead. I scowled at him and took my bag from the floor. I was almost out when the door come flying, hitting me on the exact same spot.
"OW!" I yelled bringing my hand to the bump. "You people should really stop doing that. Haven't you heard of knocking?"
"I'm sorry Miss Murray." Phil apologized handing me an icepack. I snatched it from his hand and applied it on the bump causing me to flinch.
"Look, we'll make it up to you. Did Phil hire you?" Chase asked making Phil looked his way and shot him a disapproving look.
"No, apparently I'm too young to apply for this kind of job." I answered honestly.
"What position are we hiring?" He questioned Phil as he scratched the back of his head.
"Assistant of your father." Phil said sitting back down on his chair.
"Ooh, that's going to be a problem."
"Yup, and your dad's expecting for someone with more experience and a little older. Miss Murray here" He said gesturing to me. "Is only seventeen and is still going to high school. Your father needs someone who can work full time." Phil explained.
"Wait... You're only seventeen? Why are you working, isn't it a little too early for you to find a job like this?" Chase asked directly at me.
"I'm sorry sir, but not everyone's rich."
He sighed. "Look, why don't I give you a call if something opens up. It's just that my father takes everything seriously but when I need something for you to do, I promise you I'll give you a call. How 'bout that?" He suggested.
"Okay."
"Great, I'll get your resume and here's my calling card." He said holding up his wallet taking the card and handing it to me.
"Thanks." I smiled taking the calling card.
"Well, I got to go. Keep the icepack." He insisted. "Phil, if she needs anything just give it to her." He demanded facing Phil before he left the room.
Wow, what a cute gentleman. I hope he offers me a job soon because I'm really desperate for one.
