Friendship Bracelet Pt.2
Burr was typically a rather efficient man, if someone had told you that he was three assignments behind, no one would believe them. Unfortunately for Burr, that was true. At the current moment, he was finishing up a document that was due in two days’ time and had two more that he had to have completed by Thursday. Which admittedly wasn’t in two days, it was actually in a week, but that didn’t change the fact that they would take a rather long time to get completed.
It was a mystery as to how this had happened, but Burr was almost certain it had something to do with the fact that some of his co-workers dragged him to the mall against all his protests. He’s not saying he didn’t have fun, just that it wasn’t appreciated.
He kept working a bit more, before there was a knock at his door. He told them to come in before he started scribbling some important information down onto a blank sheet of paper. His handwriting was barely legible, but at the moment that was good enough for him; it would just be something he would have to deal with later.
The door could be heard opening, but he paid it no mind, knowing that they would speak up eventually. “Burr?”
The man in question looked up, immediately recognizing the voice. “Mr. Washington. Is there a reason you’re here? I don’t believe I have anything due today?” The last thing he said came out more of a question than a statement. He began going through all his completed documents, looking for one that might be for Washington.
He had things for all over the company, ranging from the Treasury to the Health department. He was just the guy that did most of the paperwork -Including his own-. It wasn’t fun.
“Actually, you don’t have anything for me. You can stop looking.” Burr did just that and looked towards the man who was currently leaning on his door frame, with his arms folded. He cleared his throat. “Then, why are you here?” Now he was getting a bit nervous, if he wasn’t here for that, then why else could he be here? “Someone made me aware that you aren’t exactly sleeping as much as you’re supposed to be. And,” He mentioned Burr's appearance. “Clearly they weren’t wrong.”
Burr just groaned and buried his head in his hands. “It was Hamilton, wasn’t it? The snitch…” He mumbled the last part, raising his head back up and looking at Washington, who had moved from his original position and also looked a bit concerned.
Burr cleared his throat again, “Well, you don’t have to worry about me sir, I’m fine.” And with that his body betrayed him as he let out an involuntary yawn. He silently swore under his breath only to see Washington looking less than impressed.
Burr let out a bit of a nervous chuckle and the next thing he knew he was being dragged through the halls with a hand gripping his wrist.
At this point he could have been yelling at Washington, but he didn’t exactly like the idea of being fired. Either way, he kept attempting to pull away, which was to no avail as the man in front of him was much stronger than he was. So, he tried something else. Bargaining.
“D-Do you really think this is necessary?” He managed to get out, slowly losing any form of dignity he had left, with every passing moment and every new employee that noticed. “It’s only for your own health, you’ll get sick if you keep this up for too long.” He commented in a relatively softer tone than before.
“But it wouldn’t be for much longer! Only a couple more days!”
“Exactly why you should get some sleep, you’re likely overworking yourself.”
“But I have so much work to get done, I don’t have time for this-”
“You can worry about work later, right now you clearly need someone to care about you, cause you’re incapable of doing it yourself.”
“You’re treating me like I’m your son or something. To my knowledge your only children are Hamilton and Lafayette. Last I checked, I’m not a part of that list.” He stated through gritted teeth, still trying to be let go. “You don’t have to be my son for me to care about you.”
“I don’t need anyone to care about me! I am fully capable of caring for myself!” Burr suddenly snapped, he wasn’t sure what got over him or where that came from but what he does know, if that he just yelled in his boss’s face. Technically. Though worry didn’t exactly overtake him at that moment, that would come later.
His little outburst managed to gain the attention of even more people and that didn’t help the current situation in the slightest.
“Clearly not, you’re basically killing yourself! And I know that if you're given more work, you’d get even more sleepless nights!” He snapped back, Burr knowing full well that he made a pretty decent point, decided to redirect that conversation.
“If you wanna worry about someone, why not worry about Hamilton! The man hasn’t slept for two weeks and is currently thriving off sugar. Shouldn’t he be a priority?” Washington’s hold on him tightened, signalling that he was probably getting really annoyed at Burr’s failed attempts at getting back to work.
“I can worry about him later, but now, I’m dealing with you, Understand?” He said with a rather stern voice before looking back at Burr, looking pretty intimidating if you were to ask him. He let his head hang as he walked, suddenly feeling drained after using up any energy he would’ve had left. He mumbled a quiet ‘yes sir’ as they continued down the hall.

Alexander was walking down the halls, on his way to retrieve a cup of coffee. Or a cup of creamer and sugar with a dash of coffee. He had yet to decide.
He silently wondered if Laf and Laurens were still going to be arguing by the time he got there. Granted, it had been half an hour but knowing them, they were probably still there. Unless Herc dragged them back to work, which was also a likely case.
For the most part he had been staring at his empty mug, still pondering over the first paragraph. He heard a couple footsteps coming his way, so he looked up curious to see who it was. He was thoroughly surprised to see a half-asleep Burr being dragged by Washington who was quite obviously in parent mode. He only stared as they started getting closer and had stopped walking at this point. “Oh, so this is a thing now, I guess.” He mumbled to himself. Alex had fully expected them to walk past so he could go about with his day. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
Instead of just walking past, Washington grabbed onto Alex’s free hand, dragging him along with them. He let out a yelp of surprise and in the process dropped his mug, which fell to the floor before shattering. Alex looked back, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. He was silent for a bit before giving any other reaction.
“NO! THAT WAS MY FAVOURITE MUG PLEASE-”
Hamilton kept his whining up as he was dragged further and further away from the broken pieces of glass. “You deserved that.” Burr commented, seemingly much more awake now. Likely from the loud ‘crash’. He glared at the other. “And why is that.”
“You told Washington. You knew I had a lot of work to do yet you told him anyway. I thought you of all people would understand.” He grumbled, just loud enough for Alex to hear. He put one hand up in surrender. “I never said I wouldn’t tell him. Plus, just because I can’t take care of myself, doesn’t mean I can’t, indirectly, take care of others.”
“Your help was unwanted.”
“Unwanted but necessary.”
“Unwanted and unnecessary.”
Alex then changed his attention over to Washington who had yet to say anything. Then back over to Burr. “Do you think he’s gonna say anything?” He questioned. Before the other could respond, he added, “Before the inevitable scolding that is.”
“No. Somehow it’s more threatening than if he was saying something.” Burr admitted, and Alex knew he wasn’t wrong. By now he was well aware of Washington's capabilities. Silence was usually to make you feel bad, or just nervous. Either worked. Unfortunately, that tactic doesn’t exactly work when there’s another person present.
“Yip. That’s usually what happens.” He responded, with a nodding of his head. Burr, once again, looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Does this usually happen to you?”
“Yes! It’s a cycle at this point and I’m not sure why I haven’t been put on a schedule yet!”
Burr silently stared at the smiling Alexander. It was weird how fast he was going through emotions and Burr couldn’t wrap his head around it. Two minutes ago, he was sulking over his broken mug. Now, he seemed very happy and giddy. It was odd. “You’re right. I’m not sure either.” Then for the next minute Alex started going on a tangent about who knows what. Burr had mentally left the second he started, so he wasn’t sure.
The entire time he was thinking one thing. ‘You’ll be fine.’ It was that repeatedly. That was until they had come to a halt and Hamilton shut up. At that moment Burr was certain that nothing was going to be fine after that.
The two were practically thrown into Washington’s office after that. Burr was luckily able to regain his footing, stumbling a tad, before reaching full stability. Hamilton was not that lucky and ended up falling to the ground, face first. He groaned a bit, pushing himself off the ground and into a seated position, shuffling back until he hit Washington’s couch.
“Owww….” He groaned, putting one of his hands onto his face. “Uh, are you okay?” Burr questioned, concern lacing his voice. He got a glare in return. “Yeah, I’m doing spectacular. You know? Fucking fantastic, thanks for asking.” He replied sarcastically. You could hear the sass clear in his voice.
Burr just glared at him and rolled his eyes, walking over and sitting on the couch. If he had to get scolded, he was going to sit down for it. He subconsciously rubbed his wrist, it being sore for being gripped for that long.
“Sorry about that…” They both turned to Washington who looked very apologetic and was scratching the back of his neck. “It’s fine.” Alex grumbled folding his arms in the process. Washington stood in front of the two and after a second or two of just being there, began talking, getting their full attention. Momentarily.
“You both seem to have bad sleeping habits -mainly Alexander- and I don’t need to question why Alex was up for that long, but I do feel the need to ask you Burr. Why were you awake for that long?”
The male in question looked at him before letting out a bit of a sigh. He was still very drained and could only stay awake for so much longer. The only thing that was keeping him awake was the adrenaline from earlier that was quickly wearing off. “I have paperwork due. And I am nowhere near close to finishing it.” He answered, covering his mouth as he yawned. All he needed right now was another cup of coffee and he’d be good for about 7 hours.
“Ah, another workaholic. Great.” Alex let out an offended gasp. “I am not a workaholic. I am simply efficient.” Wahington rolled his eyes. “Mhm. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”
“I don’t sleep. And when I do, it’s typically during the day.” Alex responded, waiting a second after the words had left Washington’s mouth. Burr couldn’t help but snicker. Usually, he would be able to compose himself, but he was in a state of tiredness in which everything was funny; Couldn’t stop himself if he wanted to.
“And that right there is the problem.” Washington seemed to have had enough with Hamilton’s concerning comments after the fifth time it happened. So, he decided it would be a great time to get into the long-ass speech part of scolding.
After the first couple sentences, Alex, and Burr both clocked out mentally. Alex found his thumbs much more interesting than whatever Washington was going on about, and Burr just escaped to his thoughts. The two were going to be there for a while.

Washington had finally finished his speech after God knows how long. After he had finally wrapped it up, he looked over to the duo and took notice that they had both fallen asleep. Burr had his arms folded and his head hung while Alex had his head resting against the cushion as he sat on the floor with his legs crossed.
Washington smiled fondly at the sight, knowing full well that the two were likely to wake up with neckache’s but didn’t do anything about it. Knowing full well that neither of them would go back to sleep if he had accidentally woken either of them up.
He walked over to his desk and grabbed his laptop before making his way over to his door, flicking off the light before walking out, closing the door gently behind him.
