Strange
"Wait, (y/n)?" were the words that shocked her. She never thought that she would hear her name coming from his breath ever again. But she didn't know it would soon turn out bitter.
Tears escaped her eyes. She couldn't be any happier to see him again, and even more, he remembered her name.
She ran up to him and embraced him tightly. She felt his hand touch her back delicately.
"You don't know how much I missed you, Levi. I love you." She said with a faint voice, but enough for him to hear.
"I... I'm confused. Excuse me. I don't remember anything." He was left stiff in her arms. It hurt her that he wouldn't hug her back, but she took into account how he doesn't remember her or their relationship. "... Stop crying." Was all he could add.
She backed away. "How do you remember my name?"
He looked to the side, "I had dreams about you. I'm not sure why. And I couldn't remember your face but now that I've seen it, I recognized you." He replied. "When I was in the hospital, I had dreams about a lot of things, but I remember seeing you there and someone who talked really loud, and moving tall buildings."
"What did the hospital tell you about your injuries when you woke up?"
He put a hand over his abdomen and touched his ribs, "They told me I was in a car accident."
She looked down at his torso, remembering the splatter of blood on his shirt, making her almost tear up again. It was something that she hated to remember and visualize in her head.
"And that I was hit and my ribs were crushed, but they were able to revive me. I still feel sore. I feel like it was much worse than a car accident, for some reason, I feel upset thinking about it. It's like I lost something."
"Do you know what your relation was to me?" she asked. Maybe it wasn't safe for her to jog his memory to the extreme as of yet, but she wanted to know everything.
"... The hospital said we lived together." he replied.
"What else did they tell you?"
"That I had a girlfriend." he replied. "Petra, I believe."
Her eyebrows furrowed, clearly taken aback by what she had just heard. "That's... not true." Her tone remained calm, as she thought that an abrasive one would set him off.
"But that's what they told me." he responded, confused.
"Levi, I'm your girlfriend. That's why we live together." she scoffed, I just went through a lot of shit and this is what the world throws at me.She could almost feel herself laugh sarcastically at whatever god was putting her through this.
"I see." he looked around her kitchen, taking it easier than she had expected. "I apologize for not being so affectionate towards you right now, then. I'm still a little confused about everything. And everything hurts, so I can't think straight."
"It's okay, take your time, I'll help you." she reluctantly took his hand.
His gaze fell on their intertwined fingers. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." she smiled. She was happy to see his face once again, but it felt a little disheartening to see him go back to square one. It would again take a while before she coild hear the words, "I love you, (y/n)" escape his mouth genuinely once again.
"Come on, let's go to the living room, you can rest there and watch TV." she slipped her hand away from his and led him to the couch.
There were tons of contemplations and decisions she wanted to make in that moment, whether she should tell him his previous life, his universe, and his book.
But there were too many things racing in his mind at this moment, she thought.
They both sat down on the couch, watching television in silence.
She couldn't help but look at him and take in his features before they unexpectedly slip from her hands once again. Her hands squeezed his to prevent herself from crying, but failed to do so.
"Are you alright?" he looked at her.
"Yeah," she smiled, "I'm just happy you're back."
He sat in silence for a while, wanting to speak, but not finding the words to say them. "... What did I do to get into the hospital? Why was I in a car accident?"
She froze, was it safe to tell him now and fill his head with confusion?
"I'll... explain that to you later when you're feeling a lot better. Just heal for now."
"Alright." he looked back at the TV. "When I do get better, tell me everything."
"Mhm." she propped her knees close to her chest, hiding her saddened face. It felt like forever before she could explain everything to him. It was far too much. To explain their relationship, and the foundation of it, and the different people involved was just far too much. She didn't even know if she could tell him that he died in his world, because that would then lead to explaining the connection between her universe and his and what happens to people like him. It was all too much to ingest.
"Why don't you just start by telling me who you are? What we were like before I forgot everything." he asked, trying to make use of the time that was filled with silence. "Tell me something about myself too. From what I could tell so far I must have been such a clumsy idiot for getting into a car accident."
She giggled, a genuine giggle that made her inside feel warmer- a feeling she had longed for in weeks. "No you weren't. You were actually the least reckless person I knew. You were always the one who told me to stop doing silly things just because I might get hurt."
A small chuckle escaped his lips.
"You like to clean a lot. I think it's mostly to deal with your stress. You're kind of talkative to some people, and I think you're really funny sometimes and you don't mean to be." she thought of ways to form her words, there were far too many things to describe him and she couldn't think of them properly to make them comphensible. "That's... really all I can say for now. I have too much to say about you that I can't really form them into proper sentences."
"They better be positive things about me." Levi looked at her and she smiled back.
"A majority of them are. It really depends on how you take them." She remembered all the memories she's had of him and smiled to herself. She felt optimistic because she could relive them with him again.
"Tell me about you." his eyes examined her.
She started and continued on to tell him about her interests, her past, whatever she could think of that didn't lead up to the background of their relationship.
They talked for long, not giving a care for the passage of time.
Before she knew it, he had fallen asleep on her couch, as vulnerable as ever.
She shifted herself from the couch onto the floor and looked at him with complete affection. It felt like a dream to her, and she didn't know whether it was a nightmare or not.
Her finger tapped his nose as lightly as she possibly could, she smiled. It reminded her of the first time she did this to him. It almost sent her to tears once again as she knew that it was never going to be the same with him again.
She gave him a small kiss on the forehead and got up from the floor to get him the blankets and pillows he used before he insisted that they sleep together.
She carefully lifted his head and placed the pillow underneath, trying to remain unnoticed. She felt the familiar face on her fingertips once again, it made her heart race.
Quickly placing a blanket over him, she placed a kissed on him once again on the cheek before going to her own room to sleep.
(A/N) Hello! I am very excited and scared at the same time to be releasing this book as I have no idea what reviews it will get this time. Sorry it took a while. I was struggling to write and stuff. It wasn't so much of a writer's block but rather the way that I had to write it was near impossible since I had too many things to worry about and my vocabulary was just blegh.
Anyway, I hope this isn't too bad of a start to the book. Just going to take it easy right now in the first few chapters.
Sorry for my poor writing, and stuff :(
Thank you so much for reading, commenting, and keeping up with this story! Sorry its not as good or anything.
Have an awesome day/night! sleep early, drink your food and eat your water.
