Episode Seventeen 'Space Race Against the Clock'
Mabel and Dipper were fast asleep in their beds. Mabel hugged Waddles close to her while Dipper was asleep with a book over his face.
Ford crept into the room and shook Mabel awake, putting a finger to his lips. "Mabel, come with me."
Mabel and Ford crept out of the room with Waddles following close behind.
Mabel yawned as they started walking downstairs. "Great uncle Ford, what's going on?"
"Well, I need your help with something Mabel. And I don't exactly know what it is myself.
Ford pushed the front door open and Mabel looked up to see a massive flying saucer in the sky over the Mystery Shack.

Dipper woke up early in the morning and wandered downstairs. "Alright, it's finally time to start figuring out what the leprechauns are hiding," Dipper said to himself as he poured some cereal.
Soos walked into the kitchen and grabbed a bagel. "Morning Dipper, hey do you know why there's a giant circle in the sky?"
Dipper put the box down and looked at him. "What are you talking about?"
"When I was getting the mail I saw some giant metal disc in the air. It was pretty freaky." Soos explained.
Dipper looked up out the window and his eyes widened. "OH MY GOSH! ALIENS! I have to find great uncle Ford right now!" Dipper turned to run off but Soos stopped him.
"I'm not sure that's a good idea Dipper," Soos said.
"Soos, what are you doing?" Dipper asked.
Soos sighed. "Mr. Pines asked me to make sure you don't do dangerous stuff anymore, and I can't let Mr. Pines down. Let's just relax, I'm sure it'll all work out fine."
Dipper crossed his arms. "There is no way I'm doing that. What if great uncle Ford needs me?"
Soos waved it away. "I'm sure he'll be fine Dipper. You need to take all this edge off. And I know just the thing." Soos grabbed Dipper by the arm and dragged him off while Dipper tried to run to the UFO and complained the whole way.
Mabel and Ford's eyes opened and they found themselves inside a space ship, with aliens mulling about and operating various computer devices. All the aliens were the same as the one that had visited Gravity Falls towards the beginning of the summer.
"AH! How did we get here?" Mabel hid behind Ford and looked around.
Ford chuckled. "Don't worry Mabel. They asked me to come to get you and bring you up here, they need us for something important but I'm sure we'll be fine."
One of the aliens drifted over to them. "Hello earthlings, it is I, HSGUGE. I have returned to deliver some important news." The alien spoke, his voice sounded like he was choking on something while trying to speak.
"Ah HSGUGE, good to see you again," Ford said with a smile while Mabel averted her eyes.
HSGUGE ignored Mabel and continued the conversation. "We have successfully pacified the Shapeshifter beast and our Supreme Leaders would like to thank you for assisting us in this quest. We have been monitoring your planet and picking up very abnormal readings in this area, even compared to its usual standards."
Ford's force began to form into a frown. "What do you mean?"
"Well we aren't certain but it seems to be energy capable of splitting dimensions entirely. We can't pinpoint its exact location due to our technology not being adjusted to your magnetic field. But that's why we asked this one to come with you." HSGUGE motioned to Mabel.
Mabel looked around. "What do you guys want with me?"
"You generate such a powerful positive energy that we may be able to harness it and pinpoint where all these energy bursts are coming from. Which could be crucial to saving this dimension." HSGUGE explained.
"So what do I have to do?" Mabel asked. "Just think positive?"
"Well... in simple terms I suppose. You have to reach a very high level of positivity to generate the necessary energy. And I'm afraid we only have limited time here, this is really just a pit stop for a greater quest." HSGUGE told her.
Ford waved it away. "Don't worry about it. I've never met a person who can be more positive and upbeat than Mabel." He said, smiling down at his grand niece.
Soos dragged Dipper all the way to the arcade and went to the back of the game center before stopping at an old machine. "This old thing always cheers me up!" He put a quarter into the slot and then smacked the machine a few times before it started playing.
The game had the main character run around trying to sell people various garbage for as much profit as possible. "Isn't this the best?"
Dipper groaned. "Soos that's literally just your job. Ugh, I shouldn't be here! I should be helping out Ford!"
"Oh come on Dipper," Soos frowned. "You can't always be wanting to jump headfirst into danger. Sometimes you just need to rest. Heck, just a few days ago you went on some crazy gnome fighting quest."
"Well, that was different. It was just a regular day, this is huge Soos. It's ALIENS." Dipper argued.
Soos shrugged. "Dipper you're still just a kid, you don't have to save the town EVERY day. It's got to be a pretty stressful way to spend your summer vacation."
"Well... yeah I guess so," Dipper admitted. "B-but-"
Soos shushed him. "Come on, I've got a much better idea for what we can do to take your mind off of all of this."
"What's that?" Dipper asked.
"We're going to talk about life Dipper!" Soos said.

Mabel, HSGUGE, and Ford stood in a white circular room with a strange device above Mabel.
"Alright," HSGUGE started. "What this is going to do is extract your excess energy. You need to be really positive so that we can get enough."
"OK Mabel, just think positive." She told herself.
Ford gave her a thumbs up. "You've got it, Mabel."
Mabel closed her eyes and began to concentrate. The machine hummed to life and pink electricity flew out of Mabel and into the strange device.
"You're doing great Mabel!" Ford cheered, suddenly the machine shut down. "What happened?"
"It appears her positivity levels dipped well below harvestable levels," HSGUGE explained.
"Oh, what's wrong Mabel?" Ford asked her.
Mabel rubbed her wrist. "I don't know, I just tried thinking positive and I guess I didn't try hard enough?"
Ford scratched his chin. "Hm. Well no worries, we can just try again. Think of your pig or something."
Mabel once again tried concentrating as the machine hummed to life, it began to take energy from Mabel again before shutting off. "Oh, dear," Ford mumbled.
Soos and Dipper sat down in front of the Mystery Shack right under the UFO. "So Dipper, what we're going to do is just talk about life. And everything with the alien ship will be just fine."
Dipper sighed, glancing up at the ship just out of reach. "Well, then what do you want to talk about?"
"Well, how are you feeling about starting high school?" Soos asked.
Dipper shrugged. "I guess I"m a bit nervous. But I don't really need to worry. What was high school like for you?"
Soos froze. "Well... I uh... never graduated high school."
"Really?" Dipper asked and Soos nodded.
"I just never got around to it, and it's not like I needed to. I work at the Mystery Shack now." Soos explained.
"You know I've never really considered anything other than finishing high school and going off to college," Dipper said, thinking it over. "I've had everything planned out for my career, I guess it just didn't come to mind that I could find another route."
"See, you've got everything so planned out that you need to enjoy your summer Dipper. You have to relax dude." Soos told him.
Dipper sighed. "Yeah, I guess so. I really enjoy solving mysteries. It doesn't really feel like... work. But I guess it isn't really relaxing either."
"See, you just have to take a chill pill sometimes," Soos said.
Dipper smiled. "Definitely, it feels nice to not worry. Even with the giant spaceship right over me. Thanks, Soos."
Mabel sighed and kicked the ground. "I don't know why I can't do this. I just can't keep thinking positive."
Ford waved it away. "Don't worry about it Mabel, we can just keep trying. How much time do we have HSGUGE?"
"Not much. We don't measure time in the same units but let's just say we have to move out in a squarch or two." HSGUGE replied.
Mabel bopped herself on the head and took a deep breath. "Alright, I've got this. Just think happy thoughts." The machine started up but this time black lightning flew from Mabel into the device.
Alarms sounded throughout the room and HSGUGE tried to shut off the device.
"What's going on here?" Ford demanded.
HSGUGE struggled with the control panel. "It's taking in negative energy! Our containment isn't designed for that sort of energy, if this keeps up the entire ship could be overwhelmed and destroyed!" HSGUGE told him.

Ford crouched behind the control panel. "Why is she generating so much negative energy?"
HSGUGE continued to fight with the device. "I don't know! It's all in her mind!"
"I'm going to go out there and try to stop this!" Ford said, rolling out from behind the machine. He ducked as a bolt of electricity went over his head and into the wall.
The room began to shake and he had trouble keeping himself standing. "Mabel! Mabel, you have to stop thinking negative!"
Tears were streaming down Mabel's face as the energy was extracted from her. "I can't do it! I'm sorry great uncle Ford!"
"No, Mabel, I know you can do it! You just have to get in control of your thoughts!" Ford told her.
"I tried!" Mabel wailed. "But I can't! I keep thinking about the wrong stuff! I'm ruining everything!"
Ford finally got close enough to his grand niece. "Mabel, listen to me! It's ok if you can't do it! We can figure out another way, I know it! I hate to see you so down on yourself like this, just calm down and we'll try something else!"
The energy began to slow down and Ford was able to stand up and comfort Mabel. "It's alright Mabel. You shouldn't stress yourself out so much."
Mabel looked up at him. "I'm sorry, it's just that I never get picked for these missions and I really didn't want to screw it up. But I kept telling myself not to screw up that I guess I started thinking too negative. I can't believe I messed this up, my one skill is that I can be positive and I couldn't even do THAT right."
"Mabel, none of that is true. You're insanely talented at so many things, your upbeat personality just adds to your charm." Ford assured her. "You don't have to be happy all the time, you are human after all."
Mabel sniffled and smiled at him. "Thanks, great uncle Ford." she hugged him and the machine began to take in pink energy from Mabel. It kept going until HSGUGE manually turned the machine off.
"Perfect! Just enough energy to pinpoint these surges." HSGUGE said, he began typing on a keyboard next to the control panel and a giant map of Gravity Falls appeared. A yellow dot appeared in the woods. "Right there!"
Ford examined the map. "Hm, what could this be?"
Mabel looked at the dot and her eyes widened. "I know that place! That's where the gnomes live!"
Ford snapped his fingers. "It must be the fusions then! You said this energy was dimension splitting, correct?" Ford asked HSGUGE, who nodded. "Then... perhaps... thank you HSGUGE but we need to get back to Gravity Falls right away. I have to track them down as soon as possible."
HSGUGE nodded and without another word they were transported back down in front of the Mystery Shack. The UFO vanished instantaneously and Dipper and Soos noticed that Ford and Mabel had returned.
"Oh hey guys, what was happening with the aliens?" Dipper asked nonchalantly.
"Mabel can explain, I have no time to lose," Ford told him and he walked into the Mystery Shack.
Dipper just shrugged and looked over at Mabel, she grinned at him. "It was CRAZY Dipper..."

Ford stormed downstairs and into the basement. He began to search through his collection of experiments and started compiling a few. "Maybe these will be useful?"
Archer walked up to him, noticing his distress. "Hey Ford, what's going on?"
"Archer, I fear the fusions are planning on doing something irreparable soon. And now that I know their location, we need to go stop them as soon as possible." Ford told him.
"What exactly are they trying to do?" Archer asked.
Ford tossed a device to the side. "I can't be sure... but they might be trying to eradicate this dimension entirely."
