Chapter 55- (Momma CQ)
Error drops off his new charge with an old acquaintance. Neither are truly happy at this arrangement

Momma CQ
Karma watched as they stepped into the portal, shivering at the temperature difference from the AntiVoid. The sun might have been out but his body was unhappy at leaving the consistent cold temperature.
He was curious where they were and sensed a lot of SOULS, that were a mix of both humans and monsters. The monster's SOULS felt kind of weak, which was odd.
They had appeared on a busy street and he was puzzled why people were screaming at the sight of Error. He might have been much taller than the others but that hardly warranted running away. The other hadn't even threatened anyone yet!
At least Error didn't seem to mind and was busy reading the Codes, searching for something he had no clue about. When Error seemed to find it, they started to gather their magic around them both.
After a few hours they reached a rather non descriptive house, that was far away from any others. Error knocked on the brown door and a skeleton monster opened it.
" Hello Asy, or should I say Killer. Nice place you have here. Won't you let your best buddy inside ? "
Error personally had no issues with them but why take away the chance of messing with Killer. He didn't wait for an answer and kicked them out of his path, amused when a crack was heard and they collapsed on the ground. He should probably hold back more as they were the best choice for what he wanted. No need to dust them just yet.
He only needed someone who understood that there were other multiverses. Killer happened to be the unlucky 'winner' to gain his attention. Smashing the door closed he looked around, grimacing at how domestic it looked. The other had changed so much since they last met and not just physically.
His hand wanted to drag their SOUL out and see what else had changed but he held back for now.
"—and I couldn't help, as I was watched. You have to believe me, Error. They stopped anyone who tried and even Blue almost died"
Seemed he missed some of the babble but learning that others tried to help him, didn't really affect him as much as he thought. It was too little to late and even his care for Blue had long since faded.
" This is great and all, but I'm not here to kill you "
"Y-you aren't?"
They looked so pitiful lying on the ground, hands hovering over their fragile ribs, that even now he wanted to rip off. That reminded him, he should probably go grab some more SOULS, to heal the damage done to him. He would have grabbed some here but didn't want to attract attention, if Karma would be staying here.
" Nope. I need you to look after this. Also, i go by Nova now "
He rocked the Godling, when a whine emitted from them. The rattling of their bones grew louder, probably from all the new stimulus. It hardly phased him, as this level of pain was nothing to what he was used to.
Spreading his threads he felt a couch nearby and sat on it, hearing the crunch of the legs breaking. Such weak furniture, he would avoid stealing from the multiverse then. His eyesight was still a bit blurry but it was getting better, as his magic flowed freely for once.
" Look, Godling. You can stay with me but look at the damage your wings have undergone. You need to get out on occasion, just in case your Code corrupts "
He stroked their cheek, tracing their features and locking it in his memory. When he spotted their scarf had an idea to calm them. He wove some of his magic in it, so he could find them again. He would usually do this to their SOUL but was worried due to his lack of control, he would hurt them. He would practise on the multitude of abominations for this.
" I'll check up often but babybones, no matter what age, need company. Otherwise you become like me "
His words were directed at Karma but his intent at Killer. The choking coming from the other started to get annoying, so he lifted his magic and placed Karma where he had been sitting.
" Cause lots of chaos. I'll make sure to bring you treats "
His kind expression evaporated as he faced Killer. He lifted them up with his strings and brought them close to his skull. They dangled in the air limply, making him think of his puppets. He summoned a thick blue string of his magic and threw it at their chest, pleased at how well this was going. He bound their mouth shut, so as not to alarm Karma. Killer started to thrash in his grip, before eventually stopping.
They looked alive at least and now he had an emergency puppet. This would also make sure they wouldn't be able to hurt the Godling. He was acting a bit impulsive but was glad it worked out for him this time. It would be a pain to jump to another multiverse so soon.
" If anything happens to them i will destroy this little paradise you have gathered for yourself. I won't kill you but I will repeat this process for eternity. I have a lot of free time on my hands, so you know this won't be an issue "
Killer nodded his head in understanding and wheezed, as his ribs were squeezed by the others magic. He stumbled into the wall as he was released, in a daze, as the other left as quickly as they came. This felt like a dream but his aching ribs and the child on his couch sadly ripped his fantasy to shreds.
He could feel his hatred wanting to stream out his sockets, at the stress he was under. He would need to meadite later to sort his SOUL out. He had worked too hard to finally have peace, to have to leave his new home. He staggered over to the couch, lowering himself next to the kid, trying to ignore the abuse his body had just gone under.
Tilting his head, he chuckled at the glare directed at him but winched when it jostled his ribs. Good thing he knew some healing magic, otherwise this would be a pain to explain at the hospital.
The glitchy bastard didn't even leave any paperwork, so that's even more effort for him to do. The string on his SOUL pulsed in warning, making him shiver at the danger he was in.
How did the bas- Nova even manage to get free? They looked like crap, so maybe the bindings just wore off? It had to have been a while in the AntiVoid.
It was when Nova was exiled that he had started to think of leaving Nightmares group. If they were willing to do that to Nova, what would they do to the rest of them? Ink didn't care if he left the multiverse as he wasn't a so-called 'main character'. That had really solidified his plan to escape.
He had no idea why they didn't just kill Nova, if they had wanted them to stop destroying, as even he wasn't that cruel to drag it out.
He was wary where the kid had come from and was impressed they hadn't gone insane from the AntiVoid. If Nova didn't mind being around them, he was sure they couldn't be that annoying, like some kids. He often babysat CQ's kids, how hard could it be looking after just one?
-
.....he knew there was a reason he didn't have kids and not just due to not having a partner.
The kid made no effort to care for and he would have kept forgetting they were even here, if they weren't sitting beside them. The problem was that they didn't accept any food he had offered and he was given such a cold glare each time he tried, he felt he was with Nightmare again.
Nova's arrival had brought up too many bad memories and he had to keep pushing them back down. No way would he be able to talk to anyone about what he had been through, without being called insane. This universe was way too peaceful and ignorant of what was beyond it. Thankfully he could hide most of his 'weird' features.
It might have cost him but the day he met an Error type, willing to hide his CHECK, was a god send.
Browsing through his phone he suddenly realised he would need to send the kid to school. Do they even know how this world worked? Their dead eye stare, when he asked, was answer enough and he swore he felt a chill go through the room. What a creepy little dude.
"Okay squirt. I need to go over a few things and I need you to really pay attention. This will help make your stay much more comfortable"
It was definitely more for his benefit, as he knew he would be blamed for any messes the other made. The serious expression he was given made him sigh in relief and he started to explain this universe and that humans and monsters were all living together in harmony.
It sounded like a kiddies story book when he explained it and he knew his past self would be in disbelief at his peaceful life, but it had grown on him. He was sure that the Error he had asked for help from, threw him here as a joke but he was stubborn enough to build a life for himself.
"Anyhow, what is your name? Big bad and scary never said"
"Karma"
"I meant your original name, squirt"
"....Goth"
He had heard about a kid called that, born between two monsters that were high up the food group, so to speak. This could make things much trickier.
"Do you know magic?"
He might look like he didn't care what the answer was but inside his mind was a different matter.
Pleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagicPleasedon'tknowmagic
The twitchines of Karma followed by a quiet 'yes' ruined his hope.
"Ok, ok ,ok. that is...super fine. Great even! Just so you know the monsters here don't really know magic so try not to use—it?"
Damn, he might have to call the kid mini Boss at this rate. He hadn't felt this stupid in a long time. They looked at him like he was drooling all over the place, while stuffing crayons in his eye socket. Where did Nova get this kid?
Now to the most important parts. This would be the harder part to sell.
"I'm your new Foster parent, as your parents are dead, which was super traumatic for you"
He cursed his bluntness and knew if he ever told any of CQ's kids that, they would be in tears or most likely baffled in Freshs case. He blamed it on being around that much LOVE after so long without. Good thing this wasn't a normal kid or he would already be dust, if Nova thought he failed.
He was unsure what age they were, so decided to put their legal age at around 5-6 years old. It would excuse their lack of knowledge and let them get away with more. He could have CHECKED to make sure but knew some parents put safeguards against this. Especially In UnderFell AU's. He was sure Nova would have left a 'surprise' for anyone stupid enough to try.
Looking them over he just noticed the dust and blood all over their outfit. He excused his lack of awareness, due to the stress he was under. If anyone had seen them that would have been a major red flag. He was glad he had some of Genos' clothes here. Babysitting CQs kids was turning out to have many benefits.
While the clothes were large, it would at least give him time to get them something better, rather then walking around like they had just been in a Genocide run.
"You need to change your clothes, squirt. The dust and blood isn't the 'in look' here. I have some you can wear, till I can buy you some that actually fit"
He got up and was about to pick them up but paused. This wasn't like being around normal kids and he was unsure how they would react to this. He was saved from deciding when they leaned into him, showing they didn't care either way.
He took them upstairs, grabbing a few outfits they could pick from. The kid casually threw off their top and he got to witness the imperfections and many marks on their bones. Those would not be hidden well in everyday clothing. Looks like abuse would have to be added to the story, he would have to spin. Nova was not making this easy on him...
-
This past week was hell for Killer and that wasn't an overreaction. They weren't eating anything he gave them and he knew that wasn't normal. Even his old Boss ate food and they were basically made of Negativity!
"Please, Karma. What will it take to get you to eat? Anything you want i can get"
He was finally glanced at by the babybones, who was sitting on the sofa like it was his throne, with all the pillows he had gathered. He was pretty sure he didn't own that many but was a bit wary asking where they had come from.
The displeasure they radiated was potent and their stare searing. He was feeling it was less of a joke, that they were a mini Nightmare at this point. He was fearing how they would act when they got older, especially with being around Nova.
"Novas chocolate bars"
...ok he would get them anything apart from that. He was not suicidal thank you very much. Even trying to grab it from others Errors seemed unlikely, as it was a pain trying to leave the multiverse he was in.
"...Is there really nothing else i can do?"
He could already see his life flashing before his eyes, at Nova seeing a starved babybones in his home.
"Magic"
He latched onto that one word as if it was his lifeline, which in this case it sadly was. He was a tad rusty at feeding others like this, as he usually locked his magic away, but he would give it a go.
He was so relieved to solve a major issue but the next hurdle was definitely school.
