Chapter 33- (Raven Multiverse)

Ink comes over to help but more back up may be needed

Raven Multiverse

Raven had a pretty good life. He was loved by his parenst and he adored his big brother Goth. His family never made him feel less, for the wound he had inherited from his mother. While his magic was vast he was unable to access it without aggravating the permanent wound.

His dad had made sure to give him plenty of ways to defend himself. Learning to use his scythe instead made him feel more confident in himself. He had been thrilled the first time he had been allowed to explore AU's, with his mum of course.

It was amazing seeing such similar looking monsters with different personalities and lives. He had wanted to see more and begged his parents for every chance he could get.

He may have been out of stripes but he was still kept away from knowing the full goings on of their multiverse. His parents wanted him to be as carefree as possible and enjoy his youth while he could.

He had met some other Gods such as the Creator and briefly the Destroyer, but dad hadn't been happy to leave him alone with either for long. With dad being a God it was unlikely he would die anytime soon, meaning he wouldn't have to worry about leaving his family or being in a rush to learn new things.

He was happy as he continued training his skills and meeting up with all his friends. He was content with how life was going, so was rather surprised when a visitor dropped into their lives. He had been in his room, busy reading manga when a surge of death magic was felt throughout the house.

He jolted as his senses were bombarded with not only his fathers but a stranger's magic. It felt oddly similar to his sense and spiked his curiosity. Getting up he sneaked downstairs, spotting his family in the living. Trying to find the other magic he realised it was from the tiny monster, sitting beside Goth. He would have cooed at how cute they were if he couldn't have felt the tension.

When dad tried to get closer to them, the sound that came out of the small monster was alarming. Looking closer he noticed their fangs were bared and how they made sure to keep his parents in their sight at all times.

"Hello little one. My name is Geno and this is my mate Reaper. Why don't you stay the night to rest up? You can stay with Goth if you want?".

He saw their face turn towards the front door and his breath caught at how much like Goth they looked. They didn't verbally answer and instead climbed onto his brother, waiting to be taken upstairs. He quietly headed to his room, in order to give the new guest some space.

When he heard Goth's door close he went towards his parents, wanting to know just what was happening.

"Raven! Good you are here. Your dad has something he needs to explain to you. I'm sure you felt it but we have a babybones visiting. We are unsure about them as they haven't spoken to anyone".

He nodded at his mum, bracing for what his dad had to say. It was usually something related to his role, when dad had that expression on his face.

"You need to be aware that you may feel a slight tugging on your magic, if you ever touch the babybones. Their SOUL is rather...insistent on trying to activate our powers".

He grimaced and understood the meaning. He was grateful his and Goths powers were not as strong as their dads, so they could at least touch monsters without issues. They still had to learn control when their powers first appeared. It had been a trying experience but he never wanted to hurt anyone by accident.

"Head to bed, sweetheart. We shall hopefully learn more tomorrow".

"Night".

Walking to his room his curiosity took over and he carefully opened Goth's door. The tiny wings were no longer hidden and were easily seen, poking out from his brother's bigger wing. He had always been jealous of not being born with them but seeing some of the instincts that came with it, he was glad. It was hard enough being a death god let alone one attracted to shiny things.

Maybe he could gain some favour with the babybones using that? He closed the door and fell into a deep sleep after the revelations.

In the morning the smell of breakfast roused him out of bed and he sleepily made his way towards the kitchen table. He started to wake up, after having some coffee and finally spotted Goth sitting across him with the babybones in his lap. He could see the worry on his brother's face as all the food offered to the kid was rejected.

His dad was floating in the corner of the room, furthest away from the babybones, which the child refused to look at. They had briefly looked at his mum but looked more comfortable with himself and Goth.

The front door being slammed open startled them all but it seems his parents had been expecting someone, as they just looked exasperated.

"Helloooooo. I'm here! Where is the new monster?! I'm so excited!".

Reaper had never wanted to strangle Ink more than in this moment. He was terrified this was going to scare the babybones even more, but it seemed he would be pleasantly surprised. They merely looked at the new monster in the room but didn't seem intimidated by them.

Ink realised he may have been too eager in his greeting when he saw the look directed to him by Geno. Looking down at his scarf he realised he had written to come into the house quietly, in order to not startle the guest. Oops.

Looking at the young monster he was pleased to see them look at him in curiosity but no fear. Getting closer he crouched down, memorising their features. He spotted the scarf that looked similar to his, apart from the odd assortment of beads. His fingers twitched wanting to examine more about the other, but he didn't want to push his luck.

He could see Reaper's scythe appear in their hands, while looking at him with their void like eye sockets. A chirp distracted him from the intimidating scene and it seems it came from the young one. He tried to copy the noise but he knew he would fail. He watched as they laughed at this and a tension he hadn't fully acknowledged, finally left the room.

Getting up he tilted his head to the living room and saw both adults follow him. As soon as the kitchen door shut he relayed what he noticed.

"They definitely are not one of my creations, as you know I don't make copies of certain AU's. Most likely they are from another multiverse. I'll talk to Error to see if there is anything in the Code which can help us".

He watched Reaper's face change into disgust. He knew the other didn't like him due to his soulless state. They had said it made them feel as if they were in the room with a walking corpse. Reaper's issue with Error was mainly complaints at how their destruction caused so much work for him, which always puzzled him.

He knew none of these 'Gods' had any proper work. This is just the powers that he created them with, that made them think they were above the others. He didn't see it so much in Reaper but Asgore was a major annoyance. He made sure to play the ditsy Creator often when near them.

Dream had scolded them about it but he saw their mouth twitch in amusement when it happened. He stifled a laugh when Geno smacked Reaper and berated them for disrespecting others just trying to help.

He waved it off and started to head off. He hoped Error wasn't too grumpy today, he could never tell with that guy. While they rarely fought anymore they didn't really hang out either.

Ink enjoyed how peaceful things were and was happy to just explore the AU's than fight all the time. As he jumped into an inky portal he wondered if he had remembered to tell Dream where he was going today.....hopefully they wouldn't be too angry at him.

-

Karma was a bit sad when he heard Ink leave. He might not know them but out of all the monsters he had met so far, he was still the one he knew the most about. He looked back at the table and saw the amount of food on his plate had increased. He wasn't sure why they were still trying, he wasn't going to touch any of it. Who knows what they had done to it.

He would just have to secretly eat some of the chocolate still in his inventory. Shattered had been very nice at getting him more and hadn't tried to force him to eat anything else. It was just a shame they never let him feed off of their magic. He had seen how wary they were when they used too much magic, always making sure he wasn't close by.

"Do you want to go draw, baby bird? I can see you're not that hungry right now. We can try again later".

He tilted his head in contemplation at this idea. It had been a long tine since he had drawn anything. He did enjoy the activity but he had been far too busy for a very long time. He nodded his head and got off the other. Looking back Goth indicated to head to the living room. When he entered he made sure to be as far away as possible from Reaper in the process.

If a monster he thought was nice could disappoint him, then he was going to be even more in guard to monster who had shown they could not be trusted. This might not be his Reaper but he wasn't taking any chances.

He was pleased with the spot he found in the corner, as he could see the whole room easily. Spotting a pillow on the couch he was tempted to grab it but it was too close to the adult monster to his liking. Sitting on the ground he waited for Goth to gather the supplies needed.

Thankfully Goth soon came running down the stairs with an armful of paper and coloured pencils. He chirped in thanks, when the items were placed in front of him and got to work. He first started to draw himself and felt all his focus on collecting the right colours.

When he was satisfied with his work he paused as he sensed something off about it. Looking at himself he easily spotted the mistake and saw he forgot to add white to his wings. He kept forgetting they had been changed and was still startled each time he spotted them.

He had been tempted to rip them out when he first saw them and even now felt his fingers play with the white tips. He instead moved his hand to his scarf and started finding the softest threads to rip out. He knew his wings would not go back to pure black anymore, as he had lost some of the feathers when he was with Shattered. They had just grown back in the exact same colours.

He decided to try drawing someone else. He picked Oneiro as they had never gotten rid of him on purpose. Maybe the other would still want him if he ever found him? No one truly wants him, he is too damaged to love.

He made sure to pick the prettiest gold for their wings but felt his vision was going blurry. What was wrong with his picture? Moving a hand he realised he was crying and tried to wipe away all evidence.

He pulled his scarf up to hide his lower face, trying to calm his breathing. Looking at his drawing he realised how stupid he was being. He wasn't a baby anymore and knew he wasn't lucky enough for a family. He ripped the drawing up, making sure the picture was unrecognisable. He didn't want to see it anymore.

-

Goth had sat by the babybones and was pleased when he received no negative reaction. He had watched their drawing and smiled at how much concentration they gave their work. When they started drawing a winged monster he was curious who they could be. The circlet they had reminded him of Dream, but the rest of the features were unknown to him.

When he saw the drawing start to get wet patches he realised the other was crying. He watched in silence as they tried to gather themselves and started ripping everything they had made.

He didn't want to startle them, so lifted a wing to hide them from the room. He could see their shoulders lower and their breathing even out, after his action. He watched as his mum came over with a plate of treats and kneel down closer to them.

"Hey guys, it seems you have had some busy work. Would you like some snacks?".

Geno kept his expression neutral at receiving another denial of food. He left the plate near, just in case, then walked into the kitchen. He was out of his depth here and was terrified the longer the babybones went without food.

They looked so young and not eating could not be good for them. Maybe he should contact Dream? They were good at talking to monsters and the magic could calm the situation down. Maybe he could even encourage the other to eat?
