Chapter 24- (SwapVerse Multiverse)
Pale is finding this 'caring' thing a bit hard
——-
Pales limbs finally loosened around his new find. Pulling back he saw marrow starting to stain his clothes and feathers gathering on the ground. One of his new emotions spiked at the sight, making him grimace at the feeling. He was drawn to fix this but he had no real skills in healing. He would have to go to Template then, as he never really talked to anyone else.
Looking at the dirty ground he pulled off his jacket, making sure to keep a gentle hold on the monster at all times. He then placed them on his jacket, trying to cover the shivering body as much as he could. Dragging himself away he searched for Template, before deciding to speed things up. He started letting his magic absorb a random universe and saw a staticky portal open up.
" Stop right now, evil doer! I will protect these monsters with my life and never let yo- "
He had heard enough and thought it was rather charitable of him to allow them to speak that much. He knew they would be more amenable if he let them get some of their antics out. He grabbed them by their blue scarf, dragging them into a portal.
" Hey! What's the big idea, Pale? Why are you so pushy today? Did you eat something weird? ".
Template watched Pale, who silently continued walking and making sure he followed.
" Are we changing the script? Is this where the bad guy kidnaps the hero and all his friends come and save him after?! How exciting! ".
He was displeased at the lack of reaction, wondering what emotions the other had managed to absorb. Their eyes lights were an intense pink colour and their expression pinched, as if stressed. Before he could interrupt again he was shocked at the monster he was led to. He knew the other didn't really care about him or others, so why did they have this?
When Pale finally let go and pointed at the monster, he was puzzled at what was expected of him. Moving closer he crouched down, moving the jacket off of them. He hissed at the damage to their wings but gasped when he saw their face.
He enjoyed seeing all types of stories and characters in his multiverse but he had managed to look outside of his multiverse. He was dazzled at all the new monsters and even the children made from these unions. He had only seen this particular one a few times but they had never been this small.
A Goth type monster was odd and rarely left alone by the parents. He would have gushed at meeting such a rare character but the wounds made him focus on the current situation. There would be plenty of time later.
It was odd they had a scarf he mostly saw on Ink types but leaning closer he was buffeted with the magic of Pale. What was going on here?
Taking out his trusty pen, he created some bandages and pillows to make the babybones comfier. He felt the eyelights of Template never leave him and his actions were scrutinised heavily. He knew this wasn't the work of Pale, as the other preferred quick destruction of others rather than dragging it out.
He flinched when Pale got too close but watched as they merely grabbed the items he had made and started to use them on the babybones. Now the main wounds were covered up, he allowed his curiosity to grow. His powers were very useful, as he could even use it to have a sneaky peek at others' inventory.
Opening the Goths up, he saw an obscene amount of chocolate bars. Taking one out he realised this was a brand an Error Destroyer type usually ate. Maybe this would help the other? Their story would be fascinating to learn, once they work up of course.
He stepped back and tilted his head at how Pale was reacting around them. Their movements were careful and a soft expression crossed their skull, when looking at Goth. Most wouldn't notice but he had been around his 'nemesis' long enough to parse their emotions.
He was confused when the babybones was placed in Pales lap and the other emitted an odd noise. Was that a purr? His eyelights brightened at what this Goth would bring to his multiverse.
He must have been too loud as Pale finally reached his limit, throwing him out of the universe. How rude! He had plenty of time to learn more but for now he could observe other monsters without fear of interruption.
-
The initial emotions had faded but it seemed his mind was still latched onto the small monster. He hadn't truly realised they were babybones till Template had mentioned it. He felt the need to provide everything they needed but was unsure how to accomplish that. They also hadn't woken up yet and he felt more on edge the longer this was the case.
His emotions were dulling, so he knew he needed to go out and eat more AU's. With a last look at his child, he jumped through a portal and started eating random AU's. When he inevitably met Template, he wasn't as low on emotions so had no real need for the current universe.
The fighting continued till he managed to pin the other down with his black ink. He blandly watched them struggle but he didn't leave like he usually would.
"I need help. They aren't waking up".
He watched their struggling cease, as a strange gleam entered the others' eyelights.
" How much do you know about babybones? ".
He arched one eye socket and pointed at himself, as if it was an answer enough.
" Right, I kind of forgot. This calls for research time!....can you let me go? ".
He absorbed the ink pinning the other and stood near Template, waiting for the details. He watched as they opened multiple windows in front of them, showing different families. His stare pierced each movement he saw and every detail. Nothing new was seen until he spotted a baby monster placed on a parents chest. He wasn't sure what was going on, so pointed at it hoping the other knew.
" This is magical feeding. It can be very vital for some young. You would never believe how Sans from universe 23Z resisted being fed that way. Did you also know that- ".
He passively listened but caught on to the feeding remark. He supposed his babybones was small enough to be fed that way but now the issue of how to accomplish this. He would need to experiment and he knew his counterpart would not allow it. Looking at the other windows, he further observed the expressions the parents made when looking at their child. It stirred something within him and made him automatically think of the babybones he had found.
The emotion from that weird universe were starting to drain but his mind was still making plans to help the small monster. He left when he saw how distracted Template was and started his plan. He quickly ate as many AU's as he could before grabbing a monster and taking them to Underfell. If this went wrong more monster dust could easily be dismissed.
Holding the dog monster close to him he pushed his magic into them and was unsurprised when they instally dusted. It seems he would need to be more gentle in his approach. He repeated this process but kept getting the same results. Maybe the emotions were getting transferred over, which could be much for a normal monster SOUL?
It was his best explanation for it, so he carefully sent his pure magic only. It seemed to work, even though he saw pain on the monster's features he gave it to. He dropped them and watched as they lay on the ground, groaning in pain. An hour later he saw no changes so dusted them, happy his plan worked.
Template had been a wealth of information on his child's typical parents and most likely magic type. Template had cautioned him on using a CHECK, as it could potentially trigger a negative reaction in weakened monsters. Something about survival instincts?
He just knew that one parent was Reaper and the wings helped cement that claim. Having a God for a parent would make them more sturdy than others. Jumping back to his 'home' he looked for any changes in his young, but saw none. They were still on their front, resting on pillows that Template had made. Most of their wings were covered by white bandages, so he was not sure if they had healed at all.
Getting on the pillows, he lay on his back and lifted them up to lay on his chest. When they were positioned correctly he sent his magic into them. He was unsure why he felt a connection form or what it did, but he was pleased his magic was accepted. He ignored the happy squeal in the background from Template. They had stayed further back, so he felt no threat or need to move from his position.
