Chapter 161 - (%@£!** Multiverse)
Error hoped that his teacher (404) would help him in figuring out how to help the babybones but it only seemed to complicated things....

%@£!** Multiverse
AntiVoid
Error wished he could say he always knew how to use his powers, that he had been able to easily control his strings and read the Code like it was a simple book, but that would be a lie.
His first memory was waking up in the AntiVoid with no clue of who or what he was, unsure how many hours days, years he spent in this state before something in his mind cracked.
That was the first time he ever managed to summon his magic and also some of the darkest days of his life.
He had walked around in a daze, his magic latching on to anything and anyone he got near, occasionally conscious of the dust and other unknown substances on his clothes blood and the debris of AU's but his mind soon went back to the haze again.
He couldn't tell how long he cycled through this but there was one clear memory that would be forever stuck in his mind, feeling like he 'fully woke up' when he bumped into what would one day be his teacher, one of the monsters that would truly shape the way his life went.
Of course it didnt start out like that, Error vaguely recalling throwing his magic around like a toddler throwing toys out of a pram, rather embarrassed when he realised how insane he was in the past.
Some days he wondered why 404 had even bothered helping him and not just putting him down like the mad dog he had been acting like. It had taken years on 404's part for Error to learn how to shut off his Destruction magic and many more to learn how to use his magic successfully.
He felt a tad ill when he realised just how much damage he had caused in the centuries he had been created that had been a nauseating feeling and birthed his most prominent fear of ever losing himself again.
That is to say he had a lot of respect for his mentor and the way they introduced him to this multiverse refusing to admit he enjoyed some of Inks antics, even if a part of him missed what could have been his original multiverse.
..although, considering how he woke up alone and what he had later learned about the AntiVoid, he would say he dodged a major bullet he wouldn't be surprised if a Deity was involved but feared to ever ask 404 for answers, having enough nightmares as it was.
Fell AU
Error knew how charismatic his mentor could be, seeing it in the way even Dream, who was usually so very high strung for some off reason looked intrigued rather than on guard when 404 appeared in front of them.
He had wanted help with the unusual babybones who appeared in his home and was frustrated at being unable to check their Code without getting zapped by some unknown magic.
He wasnt an idiot and knew they weren't from this multiverse just like him but were far too young to be alone, worried about their possibly being more nefarious reasons for them being alone. He might not have the skills to help Goth but 404 surely did, hoping they would be able to help him and more importantly decide on what to do.
He might be capable of it but he much preferred a quiet life, disquieted by the idea of choosing another's fate like that without all the facts. He had hoped 404's presence would help things but of course things never went his way.
He had planned for many scenarios but not this.
The one he least expected to act did so and in a rather explosive way as well.
He had barely blinked before an explosion of black magic engulfed the area, as well as a concerning amount of red magic since when did children have so much magic?!, before the world shifted to a pure white.
He had shockingly come out unscathed, the magic harmlessly washing over him but had quickly come out of his shock on what the hell had just happened and moved to scoop up Goth who looked to be a second from lunging for 404's neck.
The size difference might have made it hilarious but the way Goths eyelight looked like it would freeze you with its stare alone, he decided not to risk it. He wordlessly accepted a blanket from Ink, bundling the babybones up and hoping not being able to see his mentor would help to calm them down.
He held the babybones close, feeling like he was holding an annoyed cat with the way the blanket was constantly hissing. He sighed when the idiot Creator was knocked out of their stunned stupor, grimacing at the amount of yellow paint they ingested before letting out loud yells of excitement like an absolute moron.
"Whoa! The small Death God is awesome! Look at the damage! Good thing we met up in the Fell AU. It's one of my worst works and im sure i can make it even better after! No loss really"
"Ink! Have some tact!"
"Dont be boring, Dream! Do you have any idea how much magic it takes to destroy my Creations?! This has to be the most exciting thing I've seen in years! Where did you find the, Error?! I need twenty of them!'
Ink bounced over to Error, ignoring their glare and pulling down the blanket to see the still hissing Goth who was unerringly staring in the direction 404 stood.
"I wonder why the kid hates your teachers guts?"
"INK!"
"What?! We were all thinking it!"
Dream scowled but could hardly keep it up, mentally exhausted after the intense day despite it still being morning. He was still keeping his distance from Error though, very much disliking the amused gleam in their eyes or the way their fingers twitched as if to finish what they started earlier. As he repeatedly thought, he was stuck babysitting two children that liked to pull off the wings of insects. How he became the insect in this place he didnt know, darkly promising to throw his brother to this chaos later.
"Not the worst reaction I've ever received but definitely a surprise"
404 brushed off the dirt on his jacket, studying the rest of his outfit and guessing he was going to have to replace most of it. He was missing his left sleeve and the end of his coat hadn't survived much better. His eyelights went back to where the source of this all was, this situation suddenly much more complicated than he could ever imagine.
He bent down to pick up the white cat plushy the babybones had dropped, impressed how there wasnt a single mark on it despite the magic released and feeling the child had more control then first assumed.
Afterall, they would have all been dead otherwise.
His smile widened at what a curiosity he was shown, that he had sensed Judgement magic in the mix was likely the main reason they had all survived. He wasnt surprised that the AU wasnt spared though, the Creator he had left Error with had a 'unique' thought process and was rather free in what they tended to create.
He calmly made his way over Error, fearlessly pulling back the blanket and feeling a new wave of Judgement magic wash over him.
"You should probably stop doing that, little one. You've used a lot of magic today and i would hate for you to tire yourself out."
He smirked at their hiss in response followed by another wave of magic, handing back the plushy and amused how they were briefly distractedly by looking it over. He snorted at the suspicious look they gave him, as if he had been the cause of such a cataclysmic magical surge.
"Have you made up your opinion on me yet?"
He asked amused, sighing as he was blasted with magic in response and looked at like he was scum on their shoe.
What an adorable kid.
Goth wasnt happy and wasn't shy to show it.
He tried to leave as soon as he could but Error had a tight hold on him, automatically placing them as one of his least favourite monsters even with the cool dragon onesie they gave him.
He got another flash of a strange memory when he looked at Ink, for a moment convinced they had black wings and a tail. He squeezed X close, hating how jagged everything felt in his mind, twitching when he heard a woman laugh ring out in the air.
He looked around suspiciously, twitching when he felt something touch his cheek but couldnt see anything. Strangely no one else reacted, frowning in confusion but that swiftly changed when he realised that Error was still allowing the weird new monster to stay near him why was he scared of them? Why did he want to be nearer them? Why did he HATe them?!
At the rate this was going they might be below Dream on the hated list, the terrible monster who stole all his cool shinies!
He glared at the bright monster, his rage renewed at the sudden reminder
"..Whats that look for? Is this still about your 'treasures'? They weren't even yours in the first place! Why am I being made to be the bad guy here?!"
"Everyone knows the rules of 'finders keepers', Dreams. If you arent strong enough to keep something, then you don't deserve it. It's pretty impressive how Goth conned me of so many items. The little thief is going to be a right terror when they grow up"
"Dont say stuff like that around an impressionable child and why do you sound so proud?!"
"I agree with Error, Dream. You are kind of a mood killer."
"We can always change his name to something more appropriate? We could even tweak a few things to make him reflect his personality better. I think your Creation skills were faulty when you made them but i would be more than happy to correct it!"
"Huh, maybe you are right. That could be so much fun as well! Lets grab Nightmare after!"
"DON'T I GET A SAY IN THIS?! What is wrong with you two?!"
Dream felt like he was in a nightmare, a new determination building up in him to make sure neither monster ever had their own children, shivering as his imagination ran wild at what little terrors they would unleash upon the multiverse.
For monsters that were the opposite ends of the spectrum they got along scarily well and their thoughts reflected that, shivering when he overheard their discussion of 'Code edits'.
He wished he was dumber so he could live ignorant for a bit longer but sadly wasnt, listening in growing horror at the 'improvements' they suggested to each other. Why was he stuck with clear psychopaths?!
404 was glad his best student was getting along with the Creator he assigned them, twitching a finger to form a portal and send the poor overwhelmed Dream somewhere safer. He would need to discuss 'morality' again it seemed, a lesson that never seemed to stick with Error.
Maybe he could instead divert them into going to different multiverses to let them 'let go' so to speak, having a list of multiverse that he would see no issue with them playing in. It wasnt the best idea to be so careless with your own multiverse after all he dearly missed his past home and wondered how long he would be able to hold off the grief for before his mind finally broke.
When he saw how loud the two were getting he quickly grabbed the babybones before kicking the two out of the AntiVoid so they could have a 'Time-Out', all for good fun but not at the expense of innocents.
"They are gone now. It's ok. There is no need to cry"
He gently wiped away the babybones tears, frowning at the flinch before they cautiously leaned towards him again. He titled his head when he heard them mutter something incoherently, leaning closer and sighing at their words.
"No, Error and Ink will not be touching your Code. They were just playing around with Dream, nothing serious at all"
He half lied, knowing that they were doing no such thing with the Positivity Guardian but could spot the real terror in the babybones eyes at the mere idea of it happening, so thought a small lie was fine.
"You are far from home, little one"
He mumbled to himself, the signs obvious even from a first glance, their magic practically screaming they were lost.
He was about to ask more questions when he was..to put it plainly attacked by a ball of white fluff, which the babybones soon grabbed and hugged tight. He stared at what he assumed the eyes of death looked like Reaper had nothing on them wondering if the feline was going to try for round two, wiping away some dust from his face.
"HISS!"
"Kitty! You came back!"
...this babybones was truly full of surprises, feeling it might take a while to get teh full story.
