13. as a ghost
Dipper stormed upstairs and ran inside the attic then slammed the door as he slid down against it, watery eyes as he rubbed his eyes. He was probably just overreacting, but he felt like sometimes his family didn't want him around..that maybe sometimes they would be better off without him.
Maybe that was why they constantly made fun of him, or sometimes ignored him, or why Stan liked Mabel best.
The 12-year-old slowly got up and sniffled as he trudged over to his bed and flopped down, his head thrown into his pillow face-first. He then hugged his pillow tight and closed his eyes just for a moment before he felt a blast of air shoot out from the window or something.
The boy sat up quickly and turned around to face the opened triangle window. His expression went from a blank face to a slow frown as he got up and walked over to the window, slamming it shut and going to mope back on his bed, but finding Bill floating above his bed instead along with gray scenery around the room.
Dipper yelped and stumbled backwards, landing on his behind, staring up at the monstrosity of a triangle with confusion and annoyance. He stood up with a frown while Bill just laughed at him.
"What do you want already?!" Dipper snapped with the frown still on his face.
"What do I want, you ask? Funny why you're asking what I want when really...you have something you want to know, don't you?"
The kid remained silent as he didn't say anything, staring at the floor.
"So you do then, don't you?"
"What's it to you?" He muttered.
"You're curious, that happens, look, kid, I'll even do it for free. Being curious isn't a bad thing." He replied in a mocking tone.
Dipper paused and the air was silent as he listened to the people downstairs. Mabel and Stan were laughing and obviously sounding like they were having a good time. He then looked up to face the demon and he nodded with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Fine."
Bill excitedly stuck out his hand and shook it fast in a comical matter before snatching the kid's hand tight and yanking him out of his body. Dipper yelped and tumbled back in the air with wide eyes, looking down through his hands. He was back in that stupid ghost form.
Though, Bill didn't possess his body this time, like he said he wouldn't. He grabbed the preteen's hand again and the scene began to change rapidly, showing all kinds of time periods and universes they were passing until Bill finally stopped and everything was one scene.
They were still up in the attic, but the room only had one bed and the room looked packed with stuffed animals and posters and glitter. No sign of any evidence that Dipper existed at all. No second bed, no books, no papers, no chewed up pens, no journal.
Dipper's ghost form bobbed up and down as he scanned the room then heard laughter coming from outside the shack. The kid gave Bill a glance before floating down the stairs and through the wall to outside the shack where everyone was having a water balloon fight.
Everyone was there.
Wendy, Soos, Grunkle Stan, Candy, Grenda..and even Ford?
Dipper glanced at the calendar to see it was just the beginning of the summer...so did that mean she handed over the journal to him right away and he told her right away..? Was it that much easier to do without him around?
Does nobody REALLY care about him?
The preteen's eyes watered as he watched everyone have fun without him. Sometimes people passed through him, and that just reminded him of how invisible he actually was to people.
"Well? Is this what you wanted to see?" Bill asked as he stared at the scene as well. "You wanted to see how they were without you?"
Silence.
"You wanted to see how useless you really are...how nobody cares or misses you..you wanted to see how much of a show-off your sister is and how everyone loves her more than you."
Silence and tears came down his cheeks as his lip trembled.
"Is this what you WANTED? ANSWER ME."
"Y-yes."
"Was that so hard to spit out?" He rolled his eye before staring back at the scene. "Guess you really are useless, aren't you, kid?"
"...I-I guess I am.." He choked out with tears going down his face again.
With a snap, the demon and the kid zoomed back through the universes and time periods into their own dimension. Bill shoved the 12-year-old into his body and watched him stare at the floor.
"Wanna do them a favor?" He sickly asked as he stared at the boy.
He snapped again and a noose and chair appeared right inside the room.
"It'll only hurt for a little bit...but it'll be doing your family a favor. They don't need a little nuisance running around in their life, do they?"
A slow shake of the head.
"Then go ahead and step right up to your ticket to the way outta here." An invisible grin was felt as the 12-year-old stood up and stared at the two tools, walking towards them.
Bill's plan was going just swell.
