Heart's Desire
Now this was the most terrifying thing they had ever done. It was also contrastingly the easiest. They were ready for this.
Neither of them had expected this day to come. If you asked either if they would ever walk down the aisle for the person they loved they would have both told you that wasn't going to happen.
But there they were. Both with their hearts swelling with love. Lucas felt himself grin more than he ever had as he watched his best friend and true love walk towards him.
To be honest he knew there was something special about her ever since they met a month before.
He dropped his book when they collided. It happened to be her favorite. She picked it up for him.
He had never been very good with girls, but he had always gotten along well with her. It was like an instant connection. remembered when he first saw her. She was beautiful. Her golden hair might have been a bit of a mess and her emerald eyes might have held sadness inside them, but she was beautiful none the less.
For that first second he saw her he felt time stop. Something about her...
The more he got to know her the more he felt it. She liked to read, just like he did, and she always wanted to do something more, something different with her life, just like he did. She was curious and down to earth.
He wasn't the type to face danger or save the day. He wasn't Prince Charming. But for her he wanted to be. If she was sad or in trouble he wanted to fix everything.
Halfway through their journey together he found himself falling in love with her. The way her face lit up when she smiled and how her emerald eyes shone when she was happy or excited made his heart leap. The way her blond waves fell in her face when she was bent over a book, so she would have to blow the strands of hair away with her lips made him want to kiss her. The way she always crinkled her nose in concentration when she read made him smile every time. It was the little things she did that drove him crazy.
Despite several moments when he felt strong feelings for her, like his awestruck when he saw her descend the stairs at the ball or the protectiveness he felt when he discovered her voice had been stolen, he realized he was head over heels for her while near the lagoon. He had looked at her and had to hold his breath. She asked him questions about the future and he tried to think about his, without her in it. He couldn't. If you had asked him over a month ago to describe his future he wouldn't even consider that she be in it. Now he wanted her by his side forever.
He never considered that she might feel the same way. Lucas believed she would only want to remain friends, accidentally breaking his heart, and move on with her life.
But he had been wrong.
Aurelia couldn't believe that she had fallen in love so fast with the person she swore she wouldn't marry. She swore she wouldn't marry a man she didn't love. And she was right, because she fell in love with him. And luckily for her, he fell for her two.
She had found herself interested him right away. He was intelligent and kind and a bit of a dork
So there they were, against what they had said in the beginning. They were marrying each other, swearing themselves to each other forever.
Aurelia wore a dress that was perfect for her on her wedding day. It was white and pale gold, perfect for the sweet maiden. She wore a white lace veil over her face which hid her excited grin. It was held in place by a shiny golden tiara which was almost forgotten due to how well it matched her hair.
Lucas usually tried to avoid wearing his princely formal wear but for this he didn't deny it. He too was dressed in gold and white with a shiny crown on top of his head. He waited patiently, trying not to let his knees shake too badly as the love of his life walked towards him.
Their eyes didn't leave each other the entire time. Their focus was only on the other, hardly any attention given to the priest marrying them. They only cared about pledging themselves to each other eternally. Which is why they could only pay attention for the last few words.
Lucas gazed into Aurelia's emerald eyes, knowing that his grin couldn't possibly get any bigger.
Aurelia was ready to just kiss him already. Normally she'd bite her lip with the anxiety and excitement but her grin was too wide to break. Her heart must have been swelling.
"I do."
"I do."
There it came. A kiss that was worth a lifetime of kisses, shared between the two. Lucas cupped her face just like the first time they had embraced in such a manner. It was almost too perfect and passionate for the stuffy royals around them. Not all of them knew such a pure, true love. But this kiss was so genuine and raw that none of them could bring themselves to be bothered by the display of a pure, soul binding love. Their heads were left spinning and their breath was stolen as they broke away, as if it had been the first time.
Aurelia Miller had married Prince Lucas Hunter of Atharia.
