"...And the devastation didn't stop just because he left, there was lingering radiation that he was given off that pretty much poisoned anyone who went into Tokyo for some years Afterwards. Now--"
A ringing came from the table in front of the room, signaling the end of the lecture.
"And that's all the time we have. Remember, my next guest lecture will be next week, same time, don't miss it if you're interested."
Jesse Hudson watched as the college students gathered their stuff and filtered out of the medium sized room before gathering her laptop and her things, putting them into her messenger bag and walked out of the room and out of the building, listening to the birds chatting on the rooftops and the sounds of cars driving and honking.
She ran a hand through her shirt brown hair and headed towards the Third Rail Cafe.
"Hey Jess, the usual?" greeted the waitress named Cassie.
"Yep." Jesse smiled as she sat at a table that was next to one of the windows. She had been coming here since she had moved to New York three years ago, and she had gotten to know the staff.
Cassie smiled back and walked off to get the food and coffee made. Jesse took out her laptop from her messenger bag, opening it and booting it up. She clicked on the Google Chrome icon and typed in a website address.
It loaded and at the top it said, 'KAIJU INDEX'. She clicked on the first link on the right-hand side of the page and a new one loaded up.
On the page was a black and white photo of a large creature standing in the middle of a burning city. It stood upright, like those old dinosaur reconstructions, and had three rows of dorsal plates going down its back.
On top of the page reads "KAIJU 0: GOJIRA/GODZILLA".
Below the photo were the information.

Her reading got interrupted as Cassie came back with her Espresso and her Blue-Sky Muffins, setting them down in front of her. She made sure to thank Cassie before taking a bite out of a muffin.
Then, there was a chime coming from her laptop, signaling that she had gotten a new email. She was quick to see what it was, hoping that it was another collage who wanted her to speak, but to her surprise, it wasn't.
"Miss Hudson,
I am Fubuki Ogata, the director of K-Force. I am contacting you in regards of your knowledge of kaiju. More specifically, Gojira. We've read over it several times and checked our own notes of the creature. This helped us make an important decision. Because of your knowledge, we would like to request your presence as soon as possible.
You may email me back with your own decision. If you do come, email back the day and flight so I may send someone to pick you up.
There is also an attached picture of a drawing below. It's of something that was encountered close to a year ago.
I'll be awaiting your response.
Fubuki Ogata
Director of K-Force"
Below the letter was the said drawing. It was entirely black and had a slight hunched stance with a row of jagged spikes running down the back. An arm could be seen coming out of its 'chest'.
Jesse chewed down on her lip as she stared at the drawing. She felt...well, she didn't know what she felt. She didn't even know what to think about the drawing of what someone supposably saw.
With a sigh, she rubbed her face before looking out the window, thinking, trying to make up her mind.
Well...it couldn't hurt to check things out...right?

Pacific Ocean
8:59 PM
Yagani Itura captained the Ashuramaru with efficiency. It was a fishing boat that could hold about fifty people and can carry up to three-hundred and sixty pounds of fish. Yagani had been the ship's captain for twenty-five years now and was still going as strong as ever.
The man sat in the captain's chair, watching as the waves pound against his ship. He readjusted his grip and steered carefully through the rough waters as the small wiper did its best wiping away the rain that pelted the window in front of him. He had been through rougher storms before, so he had plenty of time to become the expert at navigating through storms.
He glanced out at the window, to the deck and he squinted at his crewmen, who seemed to be pointing at something in front of the boat. He let his eyes raise to the blackness in front of the boat and waited for the next flash of lightning. In the brief window of light, he saw what looked like a large fin swimming in front of his vessel, cutting through the rough water. He shook his head, rubbing his face and wondered if his age was catching up to him.
He grabbed the throttle and pushed hit forward, urging his boat to speed up a notch, deciding that it was time to hurry and get out of this storm.
The ship suddenly gave a lurch, signaling they had hit something. He could see the men stumble and grab onto anything that could help them stay steady. He quickly cut the throttle and turned on the spotlight that sat on top of the bridge. He slowly moved the controls that moved the light, the beam scanning the rough waters. He was about to turn it off when the column of water came shooting up in front of the boat.
When the water cascaded back down, a massive thing stood there where the column of water was before and Yagani kept the light on it.
The chest, stomach and bottom part of the of the neck was a dark yellow, maybe even a gold color. Its other scales were a rusty red with dark red, almost black bumps all over. Its arms were close to its body, as if it was getting ready to dive back underwater. Suddenly, this thing let out a cackling-like scream, which was enough to get Tagani to snap out of his shocked state and threw back the throttle to reverse the vessel before grabbing the radio and began to speak as calm as he could.
"Costal Tower C, this is the Ashuramaru in the Pacific. We are being attack by something! It looks like some sort of long-necked creature! We need some--" he was cut off as a massive, clawed hand impaled into the deck before it ripped the front half of the ship clean off. The crewmen who weren't lucky was flung into the waters below. The spotlight flickered before cutting out, leaving everything in darkness. A few seconds passed before the ship was bathed in a greenish light.
"Oh...my God-"
The ship exploded, turning into a raging fireball before slowly sinking beneath the waves, smoke trailing upwards into the night sky.
