Chapter Six
It was completely silent as Arang continued to glare at the familiar male stationed in front of her. The three of them remained passive, nobody uttering a single word. "Do you think if we walk away without saying anything, she'll leave us alone?" Jungkook carefully whispered to the latter, thinking Arang wouldn't be able to hear him due to the loud noises from the fangirls around them. He was mistaken.
"I'm not deaf you know," she declared as her eyes moved over to him. She wasn't sure which members they were but she couldn't really care less at this point. All she understood was that the guy who had caused her trouble was standing before her very eyes and she couldn't afford to show him any type of mercy. It was time for payback.
Arang was never a person who held grudges—okay, she was more of the type who didn't hold grudges for too long—but this guy, he was a special case. Although she had tried to forget and move on with her life, that fateful encounter was forever etched in her mind. There was no way she could get rid of the dreadful memory and he was the one to blame. Therefore she had to settle the score.
"O-oh," Jungkook stammered, embarrassed that he had been caught. "I-I wasn't saying you were."
"Yeah, whatever," the girl scoffed as she crossed her arms in front of her chest and returned her attention toward the other male—her ultimate target for revenge. "Did you know how badly you screwed me over the other day?" she questioned, trying her best to contain her bubbling anger.
"Excuse me?" the boy answered, confused.
"Oh please." Arang scowled as her arms dropped back down and her hands transformed into fists. "Stop trying to play innocent. I remember your face perfectly," she declared with condemnation, daring him to argue.
"Okay, okay," the boy sighed as he held up his hands. "You've caught us." He glanced right and then left before he tugged his mask down with Jungkook following suit. For a second, Arang was taken off guard by their looks, which had practically rendered her speechless. They were even better looking in person. "Do you want a special autograph or something?" he inquired.
"What?" Arang scrunched her eyebrows together. "Why in the name of all things heavenly would I want your autograph?" She then stuck her palm out and held her chin up into the air. It was her way of demanding for compensation after everything she had been put through. Jungkook glanced over to his band-mate who sent him a befuddled expression. Next, he looked back at Arang and gave her a high (or in this case a low) five.
"What the—" Arang immediately wiped her hand off on her shorts and glared at the boy like there was no tomorrow. "I didn't ask to be infected with your germs, you egotistic maniac." Her harsh and venomous words pierced his heart as the corner of his lips curled downward, forming a slight frown.
"Hey," Jungkook called out, displeased. "You shouldn't talk to people like that. It's very rude. My friend hasn't done anything to you, so why are you calling him an egotistic maniac?"
"Excuse me," Arang snapped, overly irritated by this point in time. "Was I talking to you?" She had reached her limit for the day; tolerance and patience were no longer in her system. Anyone who crossed paths with her when she was in such a foul mood automatically got on her bad side; a place you'd never want to be because you were as good as dead and Jeon Jungkook was no exception. He wasn't even part of the conversation and his attempt to put his no good two-cents into the situation when he didn't even know anything ticked her off.
"Whoa, I think there must be some type of misunderstanding here, miss," the boy said in a calming tone but Arang figured he was only acting. He had been caught red-handed so of course he wouldn't want to get humiliated, especially not at an event like this one.
"The only misunderstanding that exists between you and I here, Mister I-think-I-can-do-whatever-I-want-because-I'm-an-idol, is the fact that you really believe that you could play dumb and think I'd just let you get away with it. Idols like you are really two-faced and hypocritical, did you know that? When you're in front of a crowd, where everyone has their eyes focused on your every move, you play the benevolent saint. But when you're in hiding, you don't even have the decency to give up your seat for the elderly."
"Wait a minute," the boy requested as he allowed his brain to process her words. "I honestly don't have the slightest clue about anything you've just said other than the fact that I'm an idol. I'm sorry, but have we met before?"
"Have me met before?" Arang repeated, her top nearly blowing off. "Are you really going to keep up this act? I caught you trying to steal our merchandise but instead of having you arrested, you ended up dragging me around like some sort of rag doll while your fans chased us down," she narrated with her teeth grinded.
"I really think you've got us confused," Jungkook butted in cautiously. "Hoseok hyung never left the dorm other than to the studio."
"Hoseok hyung?" Arang frowned. "Who's Hoseok?"
"I am," Hoseok announced. "I take it you're not a fan of BTS then?"
"You got that right," she confirmed without hesitance.
"So then why did you call us out?" Jungkook asked.
"You cut me," Arang answered in a sour tone, nudging her heads toward the food-stall positioned behind the two. "But I swear." She examined Hoseok more closely, causing him to back up a little, unaccustomed to the small amount of distance between the two of them. "You were definitely the inconsiderate prick I ran into." She lifted her hand and shielded half of his face and shook her head. "Guess I got the wrong person."
"Inconsiderate," Jungkook said as he tilted his head to the side.
"Prick?" Hoseok completed with an eyebrow quirked.
"Yeah," Arang said with a nod of her head. "I guess I should apologize for lashing out at you then. I'm truly sorry." She bowed, recognizing and apologizing for her fault. God, why do they all have to look alike with those masks on? She then stole another glimpse of Jungkook but since he didn't seem to have had a clue about her little outburst a moment ago, she also ruled him out as a suspect.
"Wow," Jungkook muttered to Hoseok. "It's like she's a whole new person. You don't think she has some sort of personality disorder, do you?"
"Dude." Hoseok nudged him and slipped his mask back on. "Don't say such rude things."
"But she was the one who verbally attacked us first when we didn't even do anything," the latter whined. "Why don't you scold her?"
"I can still hear you," Arang pointed out as she stood up straight.
The youngest member pressed his lips into a flat and thin line, blush infringing upon his pale cheeks. "Sorry about him. He's still a kid," Hoseok explained.
"He's not the only one," Arang murmured, thinking of the mystery guy she had encountered. Wait; now that I've ruled out two members, I only have five more to choose from! That jerk has to be one of them.
"Well, since you're not our fan and you don't want our signatures, I guess we should be going back then," Hoseok stated.
"Oh right," Arang agreed. "Wouldn't want to keep your wiv—I mean fans waiting."
Although her humor was a bit satirical and dry, he couldn't help but chuckle. "It was nice meeting you," he said before they made their way back toward the stage engulfed by a sea of estrogen.
"Where'd you guys go?" Namjoon interrogated as the two missing members took their seats. They removed the masks and sighed before they patted their stomachs.
"We were hungry and wanted to sneak in a little snack," Hoseok reported.
"But then this bipolar girl just popped out of nowhere and started insulting us," Jungkook complained. "Because of her we couldn't eat anything."
"This is why I told you to eat before we came," Yoongi snickered.
"Are you really going to blame me right now? It was because we were practicing our introductions so late that I slept in and skipped breakfast," Jungkook reasoned, his lips molted into a pout.
"But why would some girl just start insulting you guys? Is she an anti-fan?" Seokjin pondered.
"No," Hoseok replied. "She just thought we were someone else?" he said, unsure of the answer himself.
"That's weird," Namjoon commented. "But as long as you guys are here, safe and sound, we'll just drop it. We should really start the meet now since we're all here."
"Jimin, why did you bring that stupid turtle?" Taehyung chided as he slapped the stuffed animal's head.
"Don't do that," Jimin huffed as he snatched the turtle and placed it onto his shoulders, like he was giving it a piggyback ride.
"Aren't you afraid the fans are going to make fun of you?" Taehyung rebutted as he locked his fingers behind his head and leaned back a bit, making the chair tilt.
"Our fans would never do that," Jimin defended. "They'd think it was cute."
Taehyung sucked his teeth and rolled his eyes. "That's the ugliest doll I've ever seen."
"So why did you bring it home then?" the other boy questioned with both of his brows arched. Taehyung's mouth fell open but nothing came out. "That's what I thought. You totally like this turtle. I just don't know why you'd act like you hate it."
"I don't like it," he protested childishly as he sat up. "That thing is cursed with bad luck. Out of all the shops, why did I have to go into that one?"
"Guys," Seokjinin said. "We're doing introductions now. Stand up." Without wasting another second, Jimin and Taehyung obliged and on the count of three, the seven boys made a harmonious and synchronized introduction. The girls in the crowd went wild with screeches, shrieks and cheers of enthusiasm. After they had all quieted down, each member, starting all the way to the right where Namjoon was seated, made their own personal greetings to the fans.
Meanwhile, all the way in the back, Arang was losing interest until the microphone was passed to a member wearing a cap. However, that wasn't what caught her attention. As quick as a cheetah, Arang retrieved her phone and went to the camera application. She held it up and snapped a picture of the boys. Once she had the photo, she brought it down and zoomed in. Tucked under his left arm she discovered a rather familiar turtle. "Hello, everyone. I'm Park Jimin and I'm in charge of vocals and dance in BTS." It had to be him!
"I've got you now, Park Jimin," she hissed with scorn. After she had recognized and identified the inconsiderate prick she had the misfortune of meeting, her phone rang. She glanced at the caller and saw that it was Saeyoung. "What?" she answered.
"Unnie, where are you? I'm about to go on stage to get my poster signed!" Saeyoung squealed.
"Where are you?" she inquired as she searched the mass of females.
"On the left side of the stage. They're going to let us on soon. I know you don't like them all too much but I think if you just came up here and met them personally—"
"Found you," Arang panted as she joined her sister in line.
"Oh my god!" Saeyoung yelped, shocked. She peered down at her phone then toward her sister. "You got here so fast, unnie. Does this mean you'll give them a chance?"
Arang tucked her hands into her pockets and shrugged lazily. "I just wanted to see what made them so special."
Even with that nonchalant reply Saeyoung still grinned as she linked arms with her sister. She couldn't contain her excitement and bounced up and down her heels. Little did she know that her sister had something else in mind and that something was called revenge.
