Chapter Five

"I don't want to go," Arang grumbled as she stared at Saeyoung who was grinning cheekily at her from across the room. She turned to her parents and frowned deeply. "There's no way I'm going so please don't try to coax me into changing my mind."

Mrs So sighed apologetically and walked over to her eldest daughter. "Sweetie, it won't be that bad. Please do this for your sister. Your dad and I don't want her to go alone. There will be so many people and we don't want her to get lost." She placed a hand on Arang's shoulder and softened her expression.

"But I already told Sae I wasn't interested in going to meet some idol group. She's old enough to take care of herself," Arang countered as she crossed her arms against her chest. It was the day of the fan-signing event BTS was holding and although Arang had made it clear to her little sister that she had no intention of attending, Saeyoung would not take no for an answer. And what did she go and do? Run to her parents and tell them she didn't feel safe going with just her friends.

Of course, Mr and Mrs So wanted their child to feel safe but neither of them was able to go. They didn't know who they could ask to chaperone Saeyoung until she blurted out Arang's name. The adults didn't consider Arang as a candidate because they thought she would be working but Saeyoung assured them she was off. How did she know? She had checked her sister's schedule beforehand! It was funny how everything seemed to work out to her liking.

Due to her stealthy tactics, Arang found herself stuck in situation she did not want to be in. She massaged her temples and flexed her jaw. "Please honey. It would mean the world to us," her mother begged again and Arang had had enough. She went to her room and everyone was silent. Then they heard her door slam shut before she walked out with her wallet and phone in hand.

"One hour and then we're out of there, you got that?" She looked at Saeyoung who immediately grinned.

"Loud and clear! You're the best, unnie!" she praised, giggling before she left to gather her things as well.

After Mr and Mrs So gave them some cash in case they wanted to grab a bite, the two girls were out of the house and making their way to the bus-stop. While waiting, Arang plugged in her headphones and Saeyoung couldn't help but look at what she was listening to. When she saw that it wasn't the BTS playlist she had created, she scowled. "Unnie, why aren't you listening to the songs I put for you?" Arang glanced down at her sister with a blank expression and just as she was about to answer her with silence, the bus pulled over to the curb. Without saying a word, Arang climbed on first and scanned her card. Next, Saeyoung followed suit.

Today there weren't many people on the bus which meant plenty of available seats for the two. Sitting down by the window, Arang found herself captivated with the outside world just beyond the other side of the glass. The scenery wasn't breathtakingly beautiful; it was just everyday life and that was what she found interesting. From where she sat, she could see dozens of people going on with their everyday lives. It was funny how easily she could decipher someone just from their expression or action.

Arang was lost in her own world when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She knew it could only be one person and unwillingly, she took out one earbud and turned to Saeyoung. "What?"

"Say cheese!" she beamed before snapping a picture. The flash blinded Arang for a moment as she blinked repeatedly so that the spots she was seeing would vanish. "Aw, you didn't even smile," the younger girl huffed as she stared at the picture. Yet, although her sister didn't crack even the tiniest smile, she still looked gorgeous. Arang was definitely photogenic even though she barely took photos.

"I don't like cameras," Arang stated flatly as she put the earbud back in and returned her attention toward the window. Saeyoung crinkled her nose and stuffed the device back into her bag. It was clear Arang was still a tad bit upset with her but she knew once her sister met BTS, she would be glowing with joy. At least, that's what she hoped for. Little did she know of the chaos that would be awaiting them.

The bus ride was a little over thirty minutes and when they finally arrived at their destination, Arang was shocked by the hoard of girls flooding the sidewalk. They were all carrying posters, cameras, notebooks and personal fan-signs. This only meant one thing; there was no turning back for her now. With a defeated sigh, Arang got up after her sister and filed off the bus. For safety, she removed her headphones and wrapped it neatly around her phone before she tucked the items into her pocket.

Girls were scurrying by them, too giddy and happy to even apologize for the small collisions they caused. Arang was growing annoyed as the estrogen-filled organisms continued to bump into her left and right without displaying any signs of remorse. She wanted to scream at them, tell them how desperate and crazy they all looked for being so aggressive for a group guys but decided not to. If she didn't want to get hurt, she had to keep her mouth shut even if she hated the idea.

Arang wasn't a coward when it came to speaking her mind, but she knew how ballistic fans, especially teenaged girls, could become if you insulted them, their idols or the insane state they were in because of their idols. At the moment, she was clearly outnumbered. She was opinionated not stupid. Even if it sounded incredulous, that didn't alter the fact that it was true.

"Oh my god! I can't wait to see V oppa!" one of the girls squealed as she kissed the small photo-card of the said boy she had been clasping onto tightly, afraid that she'd lose it. From behind, Arang sent her a disgusted look and rolled her eyes before she searched for Saeyoung who was nowhere in sight. Immediately her eyes widened as she scanned the sea of girls she was drowned in. There were so many of them that Arang didn't even have the option of stopping to search for her sister.

She was literally being moved by the crowd and her frustration was growing as she struggled, swiveling her head side to side in slight panic. "Saeyoung!" ahe shouted but the noise the girls around her were making was much louder. They were so loud that her yell came off as nothing than a mere whisper. Then she could feel her phone vibrating and slapped herself mentally, forgetting that her sister had a phone as well. Just as she expected, the person calling her was Saeyoung. Without a second thought, Arang answered and pressed the phone to her ear.

"Hello!" she had to scream as she continued to maneuver through the bodies.

"Unnie! Where are you?" Saeyoung questioned over the other line.

Arang plugged her finger into her other ear, hoping to block out some of the ruckus which was obviously not going to die down anytime soon. "Where am I? Where are you?" she replied harshly. "How could you just wander off like that?!"

"Whoa, it's not my fault! When I came off the bus you were still behind me so I just kept walking! I didn't even notice you were gone until now!" Saeyoung defended, trying to speak over all the commotion.

"Seriously," Arang grunted. "Separate yourself from the crowd and find a place to wait for me."

"What?" Saeyoung screamed. She wasn't able to hear her sister all that well. She was stumbling side to side and then her heart stopped when she glanced up and had them in her view. Saeyoung couldn't believe it but there they were. They weren't all there but still the majority of them were less than a hundred yards away from her. Unknowingly, she was put under a trance as her heart throbbed wildly.

The screams, shrieks and shrill voices seemed to have amplified in magnitude, causing Arang to look up. From where she stood, she could spot the stage where a long table was set up and behind it were seven chairs. Of those chairs, only five were filled. However, that was enough information for Arang to register them immediately. She couldn't distinct and identify each member individually but with the similar wardrobe they were all styled in that branded their group's name, she knew it had to be them. They were the guys who transformed these girls into senseless, love-sick puppies.

"There they are!" someone from behind her squealed, nearly bursting Arang's eardrums and deafening her. Her face hardened and she flexed her jaw.

This was her first time attending a fan-signing event and by this point, Arang was sure it was also going to be her last. Suddenly, she recalled Saeyoung's presence on the phone. "Sae, where are you? Can you see the stage from where you are?" There was no response from her sister but Arang knew they were still connected because she was able to hear the noise through the receiver. "Hello!" she shouted.

"Oh. My. Gosh. Unnie. I think I died and went to heaven." Before Arang could utter another word, Saeyoung ended the call, causing the older girl to fume with anger.

"I am so going to kill you when I find you, So Saeyoung." She gritted before she began shoving and plowing through the hoard of girls surrounding her from all sides.

"Hey, where do you think you're going? There's a line!" a girl snapped at Arang who turned to her with a blank expression.

"I'm just looking for someone. I don't want any autographs," Arang said bluntly as she craned her neck to search for sister. Then someone yanked on her elbow rather roughly and she figured it had to have been the same girl.

"Do you think we're stupid? That's such a lame and overused excuse. We've been waiting here for four hours so you better get to the back of the line."

"Don't touch me," Arang spat as she threw the girl's hand off. "Listen closely, brat," she took a bold step toward the girl and closed the distance between them. "I'm not some obsessed saesang like you nor will I ever be. I have an actual life and I can differentiate reality from fantasy so I suggest you be quiet and continue standing there like you've been doing and stay out of my way."

The girl rolled her eyes and cocked a challenging brow at Arang. "Who do you think you are? Do you think I'm scared of you? Please."

"This is a waste of my time and yours. Shouldn't you be studying for school anyways? Do you think coming to events like these will help you in life?" Arang scoffed, raising an eyebrow as well.

"What I do with my time doesn't concern you. God, if you're not a fan, why are you even here then? That's what I thought. Stop being a hypocrite when you're just like us," she quipped as she looked at her friends who were all nodding in agreement.

"Ha," escaped Arang's mouth in a cynical and sardonic manner as she folded her arms against her chest. "Do you have a hearing problem or something, little girl? Didn't I already tell you that I was looking for someone?"

"L-little girl? Who are you calling little girl? I'm seventeen years old for your information!" the girl fumed, clearly offended.

"You are?" Arang laughed and shook her head. "Could've fooled me since you're acting so immature. Grow up and get over yourself, would you?" Next, Arang spun back around on her heels and as she was about to resume her search for Saeyoung, the girl pushed her from behind.

She stumbled a few steps forward but swiftly regained her footing. As she stood up straight, she cracked her neck on the left side and then the right. Her oxygen was inhaled through her nostrils and the carbon exhaled past her lips. She was on the brink of insanity as she closed her eyes and tried to dissipate her anger.

"Yeah you better keep walking before I do worse," she cockily warned and it took Arang a lot of willpower to restrain herself from tackling the girl. No she wasn't a black belt or ranked number one in the country for taekwondo but she knew a few things. Her hands transformed into tight fists as she bit on the insides of her cheeks. She felt like she was biting so hard that she could possibly draw blood. Being the bigger and mature person she was, Arang decided to ignore her callous words and carried on.

"Where could she be?" she sighed. Eventually, she was able to separate herself from the swarm of girls. From where she was stationed, Arang could see the massive crowd which had formed and was genuinely shocked. There were so many people everywhere that it didn't even feel like they were there to meet a rookie group. "Don't they have anything else to do?" Arang was looking around the vicinity and then she caught sight of a nearby food-stall. On cue, an unsettling gurgle was released by her stomach and she swallowed. She skipped out on lunch and was famished.

"It's not like I left to another city or something," Arang mumbled as she stared at the stage where a line of girls had started to climb the steps. "Whatever, she should be grateful I decided to come." After, she made her way to the other side of the road and the enticing and aromatic scent of delicious street food invaded her nostrils. There were a couple of people standing around and Arang pulled out her wallet, ready to order. She was the next person in line and just as the elderly woman was about to call for her, two boys jumped out of nowhere and cut her.

The deed stunned Arang for a minute as she stood there silently. She couldn't believe that had just happened. She blinked a couple of times and stared at their backs. "Excuse me," she called out as she tapped one of them on the shoulder.

"Crap, we've been caught," Jungkook whispered to the older boy. "I knew we should have just waited until after the event was finished."

"Relax, kiddo. It's just one person," the older boy replied.

"Uh, hello? I'm talking to you guys," Arang snarled as she grabbed his arm and whirled him around. When she saw that part of his face was concealed with a familiar black mask, her eyes widened and she released him.

Jungkook spun around as well with his head hung low and a cap over his head. She recognized him without much trouble. Her mouth fell slightly open and she noticed that they both had their arms crossed in front of their chests, obviously trying to block out what was printed on their shirts. The letters were too big though, thus their effort ended in vain. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure things out.

"It's you," she breathed out, her eyes fixated on the boy behind the mask. Fury then flickered behind her chocolate colored orbs.
