"Get away from her," Deathbringer hissed, shifting his eyes to the rainwing beside her.

Glory looked stunned at the sight of him, but the sight of her made Deathbringer's heart work again.

She looked beautiful, with her tantalizing green eyes and sharp angles of her face. He missed that face.

Still, the face was the reason he had to protect her.

The Rainwing blinked, and looked from Deathbringer to Glory then back again. "Oh. You must be the old Nightwing bodyguard."

Deathbringer bared his teeth. "Yes, and I'm warning you to go right now."

Glory seemed to have snapped out of her daze, and she stepped in front of Deathbringer. "You can't come here and demand anything. I told you I never wanted to see you again." Her voice was strong.

Of course it was.

"I know. But I need to protect you," Deathbringer told her.

She laughed, almost in a disgusted tone. "The only dragon I need to protect myself from is you." Her voice was like stone, but Deathbringer still recognized the lilt of her voice when it was about to break.

"I would never hurt anyone you or anyone you love," he defended himself. "You know me. I betrayed my whole tribe for you. I devoted my whole life to you."

Glory stared at him, doing the deep thinking she often did. "You said you loved me. I remember that."

The new Rainwing raised his eyebrows. He was definitely getting some drama.

Deathbringer nodded. "I do."

Glory's eyes were pleading but firm. "Then go away. Live a happy life with someone else. The only thing I can give you is your life."

Tears snuck into Deathbringer's vision. "Live a life with someone else? Who, like Greatness?" His voice was filled with disgust and anger. 

Glory's face turned angry. "Yes! Deathbringer, you shouldn't even be here! Do you know how...how HARD this is for me? I've been trying to move on for so long, and then you come BARGING in front of me as soon as I've met a decent bodyguard replacement!" 

Her words made Deathbringer still. "He's seriously your new bodyguard? He was suspiciously close to you." 

Glory stared at him. "I told you to go." 

Deathbringer nodded, finally realizing something. The key to getting back to Glory was to undo what had happened. 

He had to find Tsunami, and get back to Glory before something truly bad happened.
