Chapter 10
I rest my head in my hands, laughing at the sheer stupidity of myself, everything had felt so wrong with Elliot so suddenly because of Marian.
Only I am cable if getting into situations like these.
I know that one day Marian will see me as toxic just as everyone else does. Laughter turns into tears quickly as I feel shame course through me.
I'm actually considering being involved with Marian when I haven't spoken to her, when she knows only my bad and when I just stupidly rushed into another love situation.
I pick up the glass pitcher to my side and hurl it across the room, screeching out in anger.
In that moment a bright, pure, white light breaks out in my view and Marian comes into view. What the Hells is she doing here?
"Why am I here Evelyn Aculiac?" She says in what almost sounds like exasperation.
I give her a flat look, "You tell me?"
"My magic pulled me here. It sensed your distress."
I sigh out in defeat.
And there is the confirmation.
She spoke once more, "What's happening? You know, so tell me."
In a cheery voice I reply to her, this is all to soon and all to damn annoying, "well basically, you're my soulmate," I start laughing again and continue in gasping breaths, "the replacement of my dead one," I look up the curling briefly, still chuckling, "and you are bound to me for an eternity. And I really do mean an eternity. Now that we are what we are, you will literally never die."
All of my words are exaggerated and reflect that I'm simply done with all this shit being dumped on my plate.
She opens her mouth in shock, then closes it, "wow. Well, that's nice, I suppose, but I do warn you, I am more of an 'alone till the bitter end' kind if gal."
I get up, this is to much to do completely sober. I grab the closest bottle of bourbon and get out two substantial glasses, pouring two.
Giving her one I raise mine, she mimics me, "cheers to that, Miss Vashek." We click glasses and drink.
She raises a brow at me, "is thus why you want me to be Queen if Orleans, because you don't want a nobody bound to you?"
I give her a dark smile, "I wish. I actually brought a lover here with me. We split ways last night."
"I'm sorry," her voice is genuine too.
"Don't be, she says I'm toxic and that I'm broken. We wouldn't have lasted."
"That's rough. My last lover tried to kill me after sleeping with me. Wasn't the best of guys."
We both raise our glasses once more, "how about this," she suggests, "let's play 'never have I ever'. I think it'll be a good way to get to know each other."
"Might be a boring with only two playing, but, very well, let's take seat. It's a good thing I have an unlimited amount of bourbon in my room."
"I'm more of a sweet red wine girl, but I can hold my drink well enough."
"I have no doubt of that, now, I'll allow you to go first."
She smiles, "I would love to. Um, never have I ever, died."
I take a drink, scoffing slightly, "you knew."
"Who doesn't know. The Coalition death was my favorite."
"People have favorite deaths of mine?"
"It's a bigger thing than you would imagine, now I believe it's your turn."
"It is indeed. Never have I ever, lived in a graveyard."
It's her turn to scoff at me, "low blow. I live there because I have to if I want to be considered a coven witch. You would do the same."
"Don't presume to know me, darling. Your turn."
"Never have I ever eaten someone."
I drink and she stares at me, "I thought for sure that would be a freebie for you. Ugh, you ate someone."
"I'm part Vampire. I lost control once. It wasn't my fault."
