Chapter One: Group
"Come Christian we don't have all day," my guard rushed me as I got ready for group. He was a complete asshole sometimes.
"Just let me finish buttoning my shirt," I said as I buttoned the last button on my denim shirt. "You know Joe, you really need to lighten up," I said before he grabbed my arm and dragged me to group.
Of course I was the last one to enter the room and everyone had their eyes on me. Instead of saying anything, I just took the last empty seat and waited for the awkwardness to die down.
We meet for group five times a week to check in on our progress. There's only six people in my group. Two of them is Dr. Collins and myself.
The other four are Margret an elderly women with frantic outbursts that put others in danger if un watched. Alena a thirty something year old with severe depression that can be harmful if sharp objects are around. Paul a sixty something year old that has PTSD from a war he was in. And the last one is Jordan, a thirteen year old boy that never speaks but is dangerous.
"Nice of you to join us Christian. We were just talking about how our weeks have been," Dr. Hollins said trying to make me feel welcome even though I could care less. All I wanted was to find Jess. She's my best friend.
"Where's Jess?" I asked not caring.
"Christian why don't you take a seat," Dr. Hollins said sketchy.
"Where is she?" I asked again.
"Jessica was checked out two days ago," Dr. Hollins said seriously.
"She what?" I asked irritated immediately.
"Christian why don't you take a seat," he said again.
"Why is that she can leave but we can't?" Jake said with a little bit of anger while appearing behind Dr. Hollins.
"Jake stop she deserves it," I said while sitting down. I hate it when Jake gets here. At least with Mike he just wants what's best for us, all Jake wants is to hurt people.
"No she doesn't. We deserve it," Jake said with passion and anger.
"Christian who are you talking to?" Dr. Collins asked as everyone in the group began to look at me.
"Jake is angry that we haven't left yet," I explained trying to ignore him as best as possible.
"Tell Jake it's not a bad thing that you're here. It's actually a good thing," Dr. Collins said with a smile.
"No it's not," Jake said before pushing Dr. Collins chair across the room causing him to fly with it.
Everyone in the room was in shock or confused. Including me. Suddenly security came into the room and pinned me down on the ground like I was being arrested. As if it was my fault Jake is a lunatic.
"I didn't do it," I said as the guard injected a sedative into my arm. Suddenly everything went black.
"Christian. Christian wake up," Eve said while shaking me awake. I was laying on sand from the beach.
"Eve? What are you doing here? What are we doing here?" I asked while sitting up and looking around. It's quiet and we are the only ones here.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" She asked while helping me stand up. She was wearing a black bikini top and some high waisted shorts. That was the only thing I really cared about on this beach. She was what's beautiful.
"It certainly is," I said while looking at her.
"I miss it being just the two of us. I miss you," she said while holding my hand as we walked along the beach.
"Eve I just met you yesterday," I said confused.
"I know. Soon we will meet again. I love you Christian," she said before kissing me softly. The moment I closed my eyes for the kiss, everything around me started to transform back into my room at the psych ward.
"Christian," Dr. Collins said as I opened my eyes and looked around. I was back in my bed in a straitjacket.
"Collins I didn't push you Jake did," I said trying to remain calm.
"I know," he understood.
"Can I get out of this jacket please?" I asked trying not to panic.
"As soon as you pass the harm test," he said before they put me on a stretcher.
