Runaway

I tried to stay awake all night in fear of what would happen, but I was just too tired from the busy day I'd had. I fell asleep just as it turned to midnight.

I woke up but stayed perfectly still. This felt different, I didn't feel the cold hard dirt beneath me, I felt my bed. I hesitantly sat up with my eyes closed, bracing myself for my surroundings. I opened one eye and saw half of my room. I opened the other eye and I was defiantly in my room. I was in my room on my bed, and I wasn't covered in blood. Yes! I didn't attack anyone! Joy filled me and I couldn't help but smile.

Then I realised something. I ran to my calendar and checked if I was right, yup. The only times I've attacked were on full moons at midnight. And last night wasn't a full moon! At least I know it's not every night now.

My smile vanished when I remembered what I had to do, runaway. I packed away a few things: water bottle, an apple, a packet of biscuits, chips, sleeping bag, and all the money I had $40. I didn't know how long I could survive for or where I was going, but I new I had to stay in the forest for awhile. I got changed into my usual wear and headed downstairs to the door. Luckily not many people were up and I could sneak out.

Once I was outside I was about to head into the forest but was intrigued by the sound of the mayor speaking loudly through a microphone. I walked over closer to a huge crowd of people all looking up at him on stage and listening closely.

"Now please do not be alarmed! Special agents will be taking care of this matter shortly! But I must inform you that nobody will be aloud to leave their homes after dark and the whole town will be currently put under quarantine! Now please go off and enjoy your day!" His voice boomed down on us. Great, more good news to put me in that just awesome mood!

Lots of people started shouting questions and stuff. I started walking away again but nearly tripped over a girl in the process. I recognised her as Anna, the girl I had cornered and certainly frightened at the school.

"Sorry!" I said quickly.

"It's ok." She said happily and stepped back. She seemed to look me over and slightly frowned when she saw my backpack full of stuff.

"What ya doin'?" She asked curiously. I thought for a moment, how do I reply to that?

"Uh, nothing. Just uh, going for a walk!" I answered a bit to quickly. She looked at me uncertainly, I knew she wasn't convinced, dammit.

"Oh really? With all of that?" She asked gesturing to my backpack.

"Uuuh," I didn't know what to really say to that. "Yes?" I finished but it sounded a bit more like a question than an answer.

"Okay..." She said still obviously not believing me, but wisely not continuing the conversation.

"So what do you think about Ghost?"
