8: Ruby

It's that update that you've been waiting for. Tysm for your patience!

-

"Ruby."

"Yeah."

"Have you been hearing anything I've been asking you the last few minutes?"

"Possibly."

"Just, listen."

"Fiiine..." I roll my eyes.

"Why the hel- double toothpicks did you punch Peridot in the face this morning?" Pearl groans, gesturing to the girl sitting beside me.

It's Monday. Again. Time just doesn't go any slower, does it? Staring at my nails, I respond. "Sheesh. It's none of your business, I had some scores to settle."

Peridot is currently having none of my attitude and physical restrains today. She has a black eye (because of me) and literally looks as if she's going to fall asleep sitting. Even though, at the same time, she's wide awake to attain her justice. Narrowing her eyes, the injured student begins speaking.

"Wow, Ruby. Congratulations." Peridot sarcastically adds in, making hand gestures to show her emotion. "You're just sooo innocent, right? No, wait, let's go with left, because of my dOGGONE RIGHT EYE IS THE COLOR OF TEENAGER'S SOULS!" She yaps, attempting to lunge at me between the chair's side.

I lean away, which is the distance she's unable to reach between arm rests and a small space. "Peridot. You're a teenager."

"I KNOW!" Peridot whines. "THAT'S THE POINT!"

"Ahem." Pearl slightly coughs, still sitting across from us.

Both of us avert our attention to her. Peridot twitches so quickly, she looses her balance of the chair, causing her chair to fall onto mine.

She does a short screech in realization, then staring at her chair, caught onto mine. The student takes a small sigh of relief, glancing back at the principal.

"Whoops."

I try not to laugh, but the only thing that comes out is a snort.

"Hey! Don't be mean, Ruby. You're just as vertically challenged as I am. I'm not tall enough to just lean back." She frowns.

Sighing, I nod. "Okay. So, can I get going now, long-nose? I have something to find, due to Saturday's incident." Smiling at Pearl, I add a glare to Peridot towards the end of my last sentence.

"Wait! No, I still need to explain what happened!" The student protests my claim, with no other than a pout.

Pearl rubs her temples, placing a file of paperwork down. "Apologies, Ruby. We still have to discuss what happened. Even with how utterly annoying Peridot is being currently, I agree with her."

Evilly grinning, Peridot rubs her hands together.

"Seriously?"

"Yes. I'll start this off, and tell the real story on how I'm the innocent one here. Just let me get my 'shot's fired' equipment on." Peridot begins, just starting to rummage through her bag.

Pearl and I watch her dig through her backpack savagely. Eventually, she pulls out a makeup bag. From there, she takes out a containment of lip gloss.

"Two and a half spins..." Peridot murmurs to herself, giggling.

I blink.

"All righty then."

Peridot twists her head, shaking it. "No righty. My eye?"

"All lefty then?"

"That's less oppressive. It'll do."

Peridot softly glosses her small lips to match her mildly pale face. European genes, with that short, orange, and extra frizzy hair. She also has those bright green eyes, with the circular black glasses.

Smacking her lips, she places the gloss back into her bag. Peridot sticks her hand inside of her backpack.

"Is it alright if I bring out my ADS amphibious rifle? I bedazzled it."

Pearl lifts an eyebrow. "Peridot."

"Okaaay, miss rule controller. How about a flamethrower?"

"What-"

"That's too plain, you're right. How about my B53 nuclear bomb?"

"PERIDOT NO-"

"Torpedoes?"

"Nerf or real?"

"Real as your female sensuality adhesives, baby."

"Then no...." Pearl clearly states. "....and what did you just say about me?"

"You're no fun. How about the traditional katana in those terrible Japanese animes?"

"No, Peridot."

"Pistols?"

"No."

"One pistol?"

"No."

"A grenade?"

"I think I may have to get your bag checked by the police."

"Revolvers?"

"No."

"A knife?!?!"

"Are you okay."

"Probably not.... I once ate grass. Theres only one real question in this 'kill or be killed' world we live in. If you're ready for an alien invasion coming from a spaceship that's shaped like a hand." Peridot winks.

Pearl finally looses her calm. "Can you just tell me how you got socked in the face?!?"

"Okay. I'll tell you, Pearl." Peridot places her bag down. "Ignore the red beeping light coming from my backpack, by the way."

I cringe as Peridot begins to open her mouth. She inhales briefly, all of her oxygen being taken into her body. The story is way too embarrassing, this cannot be happening. Couldn't she just stay quiet about her injury, just like how kids in the no bullying videos do, before they're told to tell an adult?

"So-"

Ring Ring

"Aw, peapods." Peridot waves her hand in the air with aggravation.

"It looks to be my phone, hold on a moment, Peridot." Pearl signals, taking her iPhone out of her pocket. She quickly responds to the call.

"Yes?" Pearl speaks kindly.

Pearl holds the phone closer to her ear. "There's no other options?"

"I'll do it. I mean, it won't be that bad, will it?" Pearl shrugs. She says her goodbye to the caller, hanging up. "I'm so sorry, but I'll have to get going. You're all good Ruby."

Pearl gets up from her seat, leaving the office room. Before Peridot makes her escape, I grab her shoulder.

"What do you want, Ruby?" Peridot groans with irritation.

"Listen here, buckaroo." I sneer. "If you go off to Pearl and tell her what went down, the terrible video of you from kindergarten is going viral."

"Which one though?"

"You know which one. The one."

"Ohhh, that one." She slowly nods. "And by that one you mean the dorito one, right?" Peridot whispers quickly afterwards.

"Yup."

"Y-you seriously have it?"

Haha, no.

"Yes. I actually do."

Peridot scoffs, making her leave to the door. "You win this time, Ruby."

I follow her out of the door, just as the bell rings. Time appears to be on my side today. English class is next.

Coming along with the similar crowds, I make my way to the door.

"Hello, class!" Comes from the front of the room as I make my way through the entrance.

The voice.

It can't be.

Now I'm just plain worried about this dilemma.

Or maybe that feeling is coming from if Peridot is a part of the military.

Both? Both is probably true.
