You are suddenly overcome by a sense of comfort, and stay snuggled up between Matt and Mello. It felt like any other day at Wammy's house when there's nothing better to do. The three of you would just stay sprawled on your bed talking about your hopes and dreams, until the sky turns black, illuminated with countless stars. Mello (of course) would ramble on and on about surpassing Near. When it was Matt's turn to speak, he would just shrug and say he wanted a job where he can chill on a couch and play videogames all day and you just wanted to match up to L and become a stronger person in general. You eventually grew tired of watching the rise and fall of Matt and Mello's chest and dozed off on the couch.
"Is (f/n) really asleep?" Matt wondered.
He glanced over at Mello.
"(f/n) seems to be asleep." He said.
They exchanged glances and smirked, with a mischievous glint in their eyes (like the time when they attempted to steal all of L's stash of strawberry cakes). Matt held a finger to his lips. Mello nodded, understanding what he meant. Communicating in only a code of actions and expressions, they spilt a bowl of red (food-colored) water on your jeans, stuffed all of your under-garments into the freezer and drew and wrote (indecent) pictures and phrases all over your face with sharpies. They sat back, and waited for the magic to work.
"Urrgh." You grumble and slowly open your eyes.
You prop yourself up with your elbows and notice the red stains on your jeans. You gasp.
"Goddamn it." You mumble under your breath.
"Why now?"
You realize that Matt and Mello are sitting right beside you, clutching their sides, laughing (really hard).
Your face turned into a shade of deep red.
"Ummm (f/n), you may want to look into a mirror." Matt wheezed in between laughs.
You ran to the bathroom and gaze at your (now messed-up) face.
"MATT, MELLO, I WILL FUCKING MURDER YOU!" You scream.
You chase them around the apartment.
"Please!" Matt begged.
"Don't kill me!"
You stopped in your tracks and think for a second.
"No Matt, I won't kill you. I have a better idea."
You grabbed Matt's videogames and opened the door to the balcony. You dangled them midair, about to drop them onto the street, to be crushed by countless vehicles.
"Nooooo!" Matt cried and ran to the balcony.
"Fine, I promise I won't do it again!"
"You promise?"
Matt nodded vigorously.
You placed his videogames back onto their designated spots. Matt sighed in relief, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"Time to deal with Mello." You inwardly think.
You see Mello in the kitchen making more of the red liquid.
"Oh so that's what happened to my pants." You purposely say aloud to signal your presence to Mello.
Mello froze in his spot. He knows how you are when pissed off. You head for his chocolate stash and throw the chocolate bars into the oven, and pretend to turn on the oven.
"I-I'M SORRY, (F/N)." He desperately cried.
"Please, don't ruin my babies!"
You roll your eyes and placed the bars back into the cabinet.
(later)
The apartment has finally returned to its clean state as the three of you have finished cleaning the mess.
Matt opens the freezer door presenting your frozen under-garments.
"How are we supposed to thaw these out?" He asked.
"I don't know; you figure out a way yourself. You're supposed to be the third smartest kid at Wammy's house. If you didn't stuff my underwear into the freezer, you wouldn't have to go through the trouble of thawing them out." You bluntly reply.
Matt cringed. You probably wouldn't want to bring up a Wammy's house orphan's previous title.
Matt has decided to dry your underwear off in the microwave (now, all microwavable food reeks of underwear and detergent).
There wasn't anything else to do, so Matt decided to grab a bowl of potato chips and sit down (with you and Mello in front of the television and watch anime. But you're stuck in the gruesome process of deciding on which anime to watch.
"We should watch Attack on Titan!" You decide.
"Again?" Mello groaned.
"I swear you just want to stare at Levi." Matt stated.
"Well he looks as hot AS F!"
"How about Black Butler?" You suggest.
"Same story with Sebastian Michaelis." Said Mello.
"Aww" You pout.
"Please, Sebastian Michaelis is only an empty-headed butler, with no mind of his own." Matt rolled his eyes.
"Don't even go there!" You scornfully point at Matt; he looks at you with scared puppy-dog eyes.
"We should watch Dragon Ball Z." Mello declares.
"No way! Like I want to watch character stand around making constipated sounds for half the time!" You retort.
"What about Naruto?" Matt asked.
"Same thing, only the characters are doing hand signs for half the time!"
"What kind of anime is Naruto? A show for the deaf?" Mello criticizes.
"Exactly." You agree.
"Tokyo Ghoul?" You asked for one last time.
"Tokyo Ghoul is for sick people who enjoy watching others get slaughtered." Says Mello.
"But I enjoy watching the show."
"You're sick." Matt decides.
"Well, that only leaves one other anime......" Says Mello.
"FAIRY TAIL!" The three of you yell in unison.
Matt eagerly turned on the television and went on his Netflix account and picked out Fairy-Tail from the Anime section.
"YAY, A NALU MOMENT!" You point out the scene of Natsu hugging Lucy.
"There's a Gruvia moment!"
"Gale!"
"Jerza!"
You and Matt are yelling out all the ships, while Mello sits on the other side of the couch, rolling his eyes out.
"What ship do you think we are?" You excitedly ask Matt.
"I don't know. Well, we're not Gale. Sure you like books, but none of us looks like a rock star, or is into Heavy-metal music." Matt explains.
"We aren't Jerza either. Sure we've been childhood friends, but neither of us has turned evil, nor is our relationship complicated." You point out.
"Neither are we Gruvia. None of us is crazily obsessing over one of us." Matt justifies.
"Well, that leaves only one ship: Nalu. You're the goofy (sometimes immature) Natsu, and I'm Lucy"
"Who sometimes disregards Natsu." Matt finishes.
(Much Later)
You finish your night-time routine and flop onto your bed, exhausted. Matt lies beside you.
"This evening was a nostalgic one wasn't it?" Matt inquired.
"Yes it was, it really took me back to the Wammy's house days." You reply.
You snuggle closer to Matt as he wraps his comforting arms around you, ready to wake you up from any nightmare.
"We may have lost a lot of loved ones, but we still have each other. We are still together after all these years." Said Matt.
"MmmHmm, and I'm glad that we're still together." You mummer.
"We may seem mentally far away from each other, but we are closer than we think we are. Today's events have even softened Mello for a bit. Still, I miss the days at Wammy's house before the Kira case that tore us apart. L, I miss you, I wonder, how the cakes in heaven tastes like? As you would say all the time. I guess you would know by now. Is Kira burning in Hell like how he should be? Only you'll know. Death is unescapable, but I can never imagine it taking you away so soon. I also missed Watari, the man who taught Matt the virtue of patience. The old man who bakes the best strawberry cakes, who supplies us with sweets. I miss all of you, and I hope that Roger is still alive. I'll find him no matter what." You inwardly vow.
You slowly close your eyes and fall to the deep abyss of sleep.
