Chapter 1

Trading a cell in a Hydra base for a cell in the Avengers' tower hadn't been on you 2013 bingo card. Hell, you hadn't even known there was an Avengers' tower. Or Avengers before they had infiltrated the base you'd been kept in. You'd managed to convince them that you weren't on Hydra's side, especially since you'd helped the team against Hydra during the battle, but with your abilities, they'd insisted on some time in the cell until they were sure you could be trusted.

It was totally unfair.

It wasn't your idea to be in the Hydra facility in the first place, but the time for exposition would come later. You had to prove yourself by being bored out of your mind for a few days first. Long enough for the team to convince Director Fury that you really weren't a threat and really weren't part of Hydra.

Else you would just break yourself out of the glass prison.

You heard footsteps coming down the hall and sat up on your cot. They were unfamiliar footsteps, not one of the team you had met so far, at least you didn't think they were from the sound of their footsteps alone. You tucked your hair behind your ears as you attempted to look slightly less frumpy. It was the best you could do from your cell. It wasn't like Hydra or the Avengers had given you hygiene supplies...

It was definitely a stranger who approached your cell. He was tall, dark, handsome. His skin was pale, but his hair was jet black, his eyes emerald green and sparkling with mischief. He moved with feline grace and nearly silent footsteps, but only nearly silent. He was dressed impeccably, despite his casual appearance, his jeans appeared tailored they fit so well and were paired with a green shirt. He stopped in front of your cell and looked you up and down. A smirk graced his lips as he finally spoke "Now what do we have here? I thought I was the only one who ever found themself in one of these rooms, and then only when Thor is off world. How did a young lady end up in such accommodations?" He asked, curious as a cat.

You had nothing better to do, so you decided to humor him, whoever he was. He was entertaining if nothing else, and you were bored. "I helped the team when they fought against Hydra, but since Hydra had kept me as an experiment beforehand, Fury thinks I should be given the best accommodations in the tower," you gestured around you at the cell. "My apologies for stealing your room," you added with a grin.

That made the stranger's smile grow at the banter. "No apologies needed, Lady," he replied, clearly curious. "Though since you did steal my room, it is only fair that you must endure my company in exchange, when I can sneak down here, of course," he added. It was then that you noticed the device on his arm. From how advanced the technology looked, you assumed it was something Stark made.

"Such a daring stranger," you commented at the mention of his sneaking. It was also a hint that he hadn't introduced himself.

He looked thoroughly shocked at your lack of recognition. "You truly do not know who I am?" He asked.

You shook your head. "Sorry if you're famous or something. I've literally lived in a Hydra base for the last few years..."

The man sighed "Infamous is probably more apt. I am Loki, prince of Asgard, god of lies, mischief, and stories to name a few," he said. He expected some sort of negative reaction to his name. A negative reaction that you didn't give him.

You knew his name from mythology. Your mother taught Norse history and mythology at the local college. You'd grown up hearing myths and stories. You were intimately familiar with the stories of Loki and his whole family.

But it got worse.

So very, very much worse.

"And what might your name be?" He asked

Fuck

Now was most definitely when it got worse.

"Oh Norns. Now is when I go back in time and kill my mother for my name..." you murmured to yourself, unaware that Loki had supernatural hearing and could hear you through the cell wall. Loki was doing to kill you. He was going to kill you flatter than dead. It didn't matter that the that phrase made no sense. He was going to do it anyway. "Don't hate me. I didn't choose my name," you warned him before you finally admitted:

"My name is Sigyn,"
