She was running, and she ran like the winter breeze colliding into objects like eagles soaring across skies and a herd of cheetahs racing through meadows and green fields .
Her long, brown coloured locks whipping backwards and forwards behind her like a fiery tale as she flung herself over sharp rocks and heavy tree trunks.
Just when she jumped in mid air strong arms wrapped around her waist and flushed her against rock hard abs. Looking at the left arm that had a tatto on the wrist saying 'To forget' she knew straight away who it was.
"Gale will you please give me a chance!" She groaned as she balanced herself properly on her feet, looking up to see a grinning boy no older than fifteen.
"Now where's the fun in that!" He flung his sweaty arms over her shoulders and Danna almost toppled over the the weight.
They heard wheezing from behind and turned to see a fourteen year old Eliot panting, hands on knees as he bent over.
"You run fast" Was all he said,
"And you're just too slow" Gale remarked.
Once young little Danna befriended Eliot his other brothers came into the picture.
Gale was fifteen and a friendly type of person, but as her parents said he was a bad influence on her because everyone her parents told her to come home around five before dark Gale would persuade her to leave around midnight.
He did have a way with his words.
And whenever she would turn up late to her house they would always say:
"We never adopted a trash like you, already sleeping with that boy"
But both of the brothers always said never to let it get to her heart.
Now for the other brother who was twins with Gale meaning they were the same age he was a different story all together. He was the polar opposite, he was the type that many would assume was part of some gang or a drug dealer at the least.
Everything she would see him he would give her a cold stare and say nothing else, but when he did talk Danna had to take two steps back and blink in shock, because all that came out of his mouth was death threats and warnings.
All three of them walked out from the park and walked to their home, just when they were about open the fron door their mother Mrs Werwood Burt's through and hugged them all with an excited smile including Danna.
Before Danna went in she would always look above to where the window was, where Noah the other twin always stood, watching and glaring at them with tired eyes, but in the end his gaze was always implanted on her, watching her with his most interest.
As she went in she inhaled deeply the lavender smell, the warmph of the house that always embraced her in a loving hug. This was home for her, where the laughter happened and where she felt relaxed.
Back in her own home it was cold and unwelcoming, probably because her parents went on business trips but she always felt like she didn't belong there.
And she didn't.
Yet if you step inside the Werwood's house you'll feel it's so different, a place where the lungs choose to fill a little deeper and the heart beat a little steadier.
This was home for her, and they were her true family.
-----------
Danna woke up for the third time that day, wishing that time would speed up as the doctors said that they would let her go home the next week, she had been staying at the hospital for five days and her neck brace was finnaly off.
She could walk around the room freely but was trapped like a damn prisoner in her own hospital room. Her memory had surprisingly recovered on what happened that night at the incident and she hoped Melly was okay, her parents had visited her nearly everyday, taking the days off work and she was thankful to have such adoptive parents.
She signed as her belly rumbled and pressed the red buzzer where it told doctors or nurses that she was awake and hungry.
However seconds led to minutes and there was still no sign of food or doctors , not like she wanted to see them anyway.
So she peeked through the door that was thankfully left open this time, she expected nurses chiding her to go back to bed and then lock the door but there was no one. She slipped though the door and entered the hallway, seeing no sign of people, not hearing any voices in the background.
The familiar feeling of her gut telling her to be cautious settled in, warning her. Her heart rate pumped faster as she started walking down the hallway.
The hospital corridor was stuffy and the air had an undertone of bleach. The pictures on the walls had prints of uplifting scenes and quotes but at that moment it only mocked her in the eerie atmosphere.
She turned a corner and choked down her gasp, for there lay doctors and nurses at the reception area on the cold floor, their eyes closed like they were peacefully sleeping, like they cassualy dropped to the hard floor to sleep.
Footsteps squeaked from behind her, she turned to see a person marching towards her with speed , as if they were determined to reach their goal, the destination. They wore a gas mask that looked centuries old, and when her eyes drifted to where their hands were her eyes widened in fear.
They were holding a gun, the lights flickered just like that night before in the abandoned house and she knew this person wasn't friendly or part of the military.
And so she bolted down the corridor, noting that their footsteps had become louder and faster. Without thinking she crashed into a wall when turning a corner.
Holding her head at the impact she scrambled up just to hear gun shots firing off, snapping her head to the side she saw the stranger holding their gun at her, her hands pushed her off the wall that she was leaning on just in time as bullets flew past her head.
Gasping she broke into a faster run, her throat now burning from all that heavy breathing she was doing. The man picked up speed easwell, hot on her heels as their heavy footsteps echoed in the empty hallway.
Turning another corner where the elderly resided, Danna swung a door open and gently shut it, getting a towel by the side to wrap the handle.
It was then she realised she was going to die.
"I'm going to die, i-i need" She muttered in a panicked voice, looking around the room for anything that would help her defend herself. She saw a large window that she could fit through with her small body, thank full that it wasnt barred like the rest.
She noticed the elderly also sleeping peacefully like they fell into a deep coma and pushed the window upwards to open it.
She heard doors squeak from outside the room telling her to hurry up, heart beating fatser, she heard their angry mutter as they scanned every room for her.
It was only in the next minute till they checked the room she was in.
Looking down from the window she wanted to grimace, it was only a two floor drop and she was sure she would survive, but the injuries?.
That's what she feared the most but it was better than death. So without looking back this time she jumped.
The world rushed by in a blur and she knew the pain was coming. She felt her body being pulled by the gravity, pulled to the ground as she impacted.
She felt her bones crush at the landing but not break, and then she just lay there, taking in the fresh air as she heard all cars driving past her, fortunately she fell onto the pavement. Realising the person was still after her she rolled to her side and slowly and painfully got to her feet.
Yelping as a sharp pain stabbed her right anckle, looking down she knew why.
She twisted her anckle.
Examining herself as she got up she looked like a patient on the run, her ankle looking sore and the green colour glaring at her.
She limped away from the hospital, watching as life walked past her, not acknowledging her presence.
She limped to a nearby corner shop and leaned on the desk, dropping her arms to slap the cold wood as she looked at the shocked shop keeper.
"I need to make a phone call"
Wow, so how was that?
And why do you think the person was causing her?.
