16- Something Else

"You can't blend in when you're born to stand out."

"Does she even like Italian?" Rosalie asked me the next day. Myself, plus the whole Cullen family minus Edward, were all gathered in their luxurious kitchen, the decadent scents of the food Esme was cooking floating around. I shrugged, something not easy to do with Jasper's arm around my shoulders. "I dunno, her name is Bella."

Emmett chuckled loudly, making me trust him even less with that huge knife in his hand.

"You look like a serial killer, Em."

Emmett made a face at me, twirling the knife around in his hand. I took a small step back, and Rosalie snatched the knife from his grasp. "You are going to stab someone."

Emmett smirked, taking a slow step forward, "hide your girlfriend, Jazzy."

"Run!" Alice yelled, and we bolted out up the stairs as Emmett laughed like a madman from behind. I chuckled, this is good, life is good. I may be incredibly stupid and often hang out with a group of mythical creatures who could murder me at any second, but it's still good.Alice was giggling, having an awful fun time showing off how fast she could run as she sprinted up and down the steps. I pulled a face. "Showoff." I mumbled, and Alice giggled.

"Bella's going to break something in your house I am calling it right now." I said once I heard the door open and close. "Most likely something expensive."

"How expensive?" Jasper asked, doing that super hot thing he does when he only raises one of his eyebrows. I tried to mock him as I approached the big window at the end of the hall, but probably only succeeded in making myself look stupid.

"Picture the most expensive thing you own... that's it! Oh you have a cool tree." I leaned my head out of the open window, the breeze blowing my hair across my face. I pulled my head back into the house, and pointed to the large plant outside. "Is that important?"

They both burst into simultaneous giggles. "What? The tree?" Alice asked, and I nodded, "yeah, is it important?"

"W-What do-" Jasper began, before seeing that it was hopeless. "No. No the tree is not important."

I made eye-contact with Alice, and we shared knowing, devious grins. Using her super-speed, she flew to the window, and climbed out so she was balancing on one of the thick branches, I began to follow suite, but a strong pair of arms wrapped around my stomach prevented me from moving any further. "No."

I chuckled softly, flipping around so I was facing him. "It's fine, Jazzy. Alice can catch me if I fall." I paused to take in his facial expression, and tried to correct my mistake. "Not that I am going to fall."

Another long pause.

I groaned. "Have you just gone mute all of a sudden?" I asked, waving one of my hands in front of his face, which wasn't easy given our current position. He finally sighed, leaning his forehead on mine for a brief second, and then pushed me slightly. "I'm going first."

I grinned triumphantly. I am glad Edward isn't here because I couldn't stop thinking about the time I fell out of a tree and fractured my wrist. Well... that time I didn't have two vampires to help me. I only had Bella, who refused to climb it because she knew that she would break her neck.

It wasn't a long way down, and I managed to crawl through the window without any permanent repercussions, jumping in and pointing at Jasper. "Ha ha!" I yelled, my own small victory making me forget that there were other people in the room. I turned, pretty sure I was blushing slightly, and waved at Bella as Alice and Jasper entered. "Hey, Bells."

Bella looked like she couldn't decide if she was terrified, or just awkward. Se raised her hand in a small wave. "Hi."

"Bella!" Alice waltzed into the room, approaching my sister to give her a kiss on each of her cheeks. I grinned at my friends eccentric-ness, and remembered how hard it was for Jasper to be around humans. I grabbed his hand, and he wrapped his arms around my waist, resting his chin on the top of my head.

"Oh you do smell good." Alice observed, and I snorted, Alice always makes me laugh, but Bella looked kind of scared at her wording. "Uh-thanks?"

"Alice, what are you--" Edward began, shaking his head in a disapproving manner.

Yo, Eddie, stop acting like you have a stick up your ass it's all gonna be fine.

The bronze-haired Cullen turned and furrowed his eyebrows slightly, and then immediately directed his attention back to my sister.

"Don't worry, Bella and I are going to be great friends!" Alice twirled around in a way that Alice's do. She floated back over to Jasper and I, who seemed to be trying to hide in my hair.

"Jasper's our newest vegetarian, it's a little more... difficult for him." Carlisle explained, and Bella's face seemed to grow paler as she glanced over to us. I guess it probably did look weird, the vampire who struggles to not kill every human he encounters, holding me so tight against him that I wasn't sure who was going to suffocate first. I didn't mind though, between the cool feeling his skin emits, and the strong cinnamon scent, I could stay here forever.

"Pleasure to meet you." My boyfriend (God it feels so weird to be saying that) said, his voice tight. Bella kept giving me confused looks, so I mocked her by widening my eyes dramatically, and she blushed, looking down.

"Don't worry, Texas." I whispered, knowing that everybody in the room but Bella could hear. "A crack in the sidewalk could hurt her easier then you."

Emmett barked out a laugh, quickly trying to cover it up with a fake-cough as Bella turned around. He was still holding that big-ass knife, and set it down on the counter.

"Alright, I'm gonna take you on a tour of the rest of the house." Edward said, looking as if he wanted nothing more then to get Bella out of this situation.

"See you soon, Bells." I nodded, before grabbing Jasper's hand and pulling him back out onto the terrace, knowing he didn't like this situation, Alice followed closely behind, bidding farewell to Bella and dancing her way out the door.

"Storms coming! Baseball!"

"You know that storms and baseball are not usually associated together, right?"

Alice giggled at my blatant-ness, sharing a look with Jasper. "Oh yeah, I forgot you were a professional base-baller."

"Two things-" I held up a finger. "One, base-baller is not the correct term, and two, I am nowhere near professional. But do you guys play baseball?"

Maybe they spotted the wistful look in my eye, but the two shared a knowing look and snorted. "Um, Court, I don't think you would be the very best at our version."

I grew defensive at his words. I know I should just shut up and understand that Vampires are freakishly strong. But they said I was strong too, right? Maybe I could try... The storm thing is still confusing me though. Why would you need a storm to play baseball? That doesn't make any sense! Nevertheless, my sharp mouth got the better of me, and I felt my temper spike. Jasper must have sensed it, because he took a step forward, but I spoke before he could.

"Maybe I could, right? I mean come on! I might not be vampire strong, but you said I was really strong, right. I want to try!"

The both stared at me for a second, and I blushed slightly at my outburst; My mouth gets ahead of my brain sometimes. Alice spoke up first, and her words surprised me more then I thought they would.

"You truly are something else, Courtney Swan."

A/N: I'm sorry for the short chapter! I just wanted to get this one out before I write the baseball scene, which I have big plans for. Quick question: Would anyone be interested in a TWD fic? If so.... who should be the love interest?

Thank you guys for the love, and please comment! I get super excited when I read comments, and they give me an urge to continue writing! Love you all!
