Rabbit

The light of a new day rose. Luca, the one that Ceaser asked to stay behind, who planned to help the new member  of the ape colony to join the others for breakfast, woke up last to find an empty bed beside him.

The child was gone.

Again.

Meanwhile, while Luca searched the entire medical tower, the small limping child managed to sneak out of the colony once again. The pain in your ankle was not so bad. Meaning it will heal soon, and with that knowledge in mind, the small child wandered farther from the ape colony.

Your panda backpack wasn't with you, seeing that the apes don't want you to leave, your only possessions were a apple, orange, your sketch book, pencil, and a walking stick you found on your little adventure from outside the ape colony.

The apes seem like good apes, not bad ones from all the rumors, so once you're done, you'll head back before it gets dark.

And, well, you would become a burden to them. So, may as well take care of yourself so they can take care of their people...

"Rabbit!"

Beady eyes stare at the child, who held their rabbit toy in one arm, crouch down to observe it. Immediately opening your sketch book. Sketching away till you're just as satisfied with your daily goal.

All that rabbit did was stare at the child. Not once did it stop munching on its grassy food. It felt no danger, so why must it run for its life?

Once its eyes were done, well drawn to your liking, stood up to venture around the rabbit.

You could have found another animal, like something cute and small, only to hear a loud thump of some sort of land behind your cheery form. On instinct, smile on your little face, turn to meet eye to eye with an ape with beautiful blue eyes.

Like, resembling the sky. It's such pretty blue color..

This ape was also the same one you first met as well. And, for it to come alone and away from its home and people, raised a single hand to plop it dead center on your little head. Messing up your (H/C) hair you fixed before departing the medical tower this very morning.

Like you said before, this ape seems friendly..

Once it was satisfied, it kneels down, eye to eye level with the human child, and it begins to sign 'Out here again? Why do you keep running away?'

All the child did was stare at him. He forgot you didn't know sign language. How was he supposed to communicate with you now?

"Are you asking me to come back to your home?" Blue Eyes nods, not fully his question he was asking earlier, the small child smile turns to a frown, arms crossed secured around your book "But I'm not done! I-I like it out here!It's....peaceful and quiet.."

He can understand that. Out here, this far in, is indeed quiet and beautiful. A peaceful paradise. However, danger comes and goes. Staying here would bring danger closer. So, with this knowledge, he stood back up and held a single hand out to the human child. Offering to walk back than swing tree to tree above.

Seeing the extended hand, too big for it will swallow your littler hand whole, hesitate upon the idea of returning so soon.

These fruits will be enough to fill your tummy, but for how long?

Blue Eye's was patient. So patient, unlike other apes. Only his patient turns to him falling towards the floor, body slammed by a hulking human grey hair man.As the two tumble down the rocky slope, another human from the city quickly snatched up the smaller unhappy child. Kicking and screaming as the human teenager ran back to the car.

"What the hell?! I'm trying to save you kid!" This boy goal was to get this kid out of danger way, and once that is done, run back with a gun.

"You're a meanie! Put me done! Let me gooooo!!"

The elder man, who gets up, is such a tumble, finds that he is the only one at the bottom of the slope. The ape he body slammed not in sight. It was gone. Immediately, he knew his nephew was in trouble. On wobbly feet, he hastly climbs the uneven slop. The fuel brewing in him burning for he hopes to save his dear nephew in time.

Meanwhile, the so-called nephew was struggling to keep the child confined in the car. It kept screaming 'no' and 'get me out of here' profusely. At some point, the boy decided to just throw the child in and take the keys entirely. Your screaming dims as the boy smirks in victory.

That is till the ape he planned to kill jumps and lands on the roof of the car.

Clearly unhappy.

Immediately, the boy backs away in fear "O-Oh...oh shit!"

Blue Eyes didn't bother. His eyes were trained on the keys.

The boy noticed.

"Fuck that-AH!"

One leap, not to the boy, off the car was enough to make him fall over, shimmy back from the unhappy ape.

Even better, without the keys, grabbed a large rock. Soon smashed the window of the drivers side open. As he unlocked the car, retrieved the smaller human being, he intentionally set off the car alarm system.

Blue Eyes attention diverts to the elder, out of breath and sweaty, and makes haste to its nephew..

"You're going to take me back...aren't you?"

Blue Eyes, who held the human child in one arm, smaller ones encircled his neck, face hidden to the world, nods with a soft affirmative hoot.

The two humans freak out, thinking death is to come, only Blue Eye's takes the small child else where. Leaving his kin to come rushing in. No Blue Eye nor you in sight. Just that kid and his grandpa.

He took you back on foot than tree. He wanted you to enjoy what nature is till home bound. Your little hand in his, at awe and smiling at everything, guide you back to his home.

The first to greet you was Maurice, not knowing his name at all, who hoots and signs to Blue Eye's with welcoming arms.

'Car alarm went off. Man and nephew I heard, was it you that sounded it off?'

Blue Eye's release your hand, nodding as he signs 'It was me. Chases after this run away, they keep leaving camp. We walked back.'

Maurice looks down to the child who watch the odd conversation. Confuse on what is being said. He smiles as he takes the hand of the child, together walking further inside the camp.

Blue Eyes didn't follow this time. Rather, he travels else where..

As the organtua guides the smaller being back up the tower. Many hooting sounds here and there. As he enters, child in tow, ape nurses skit scatter to the human child. Maurice watch as they guide the little one to the same bed as before. Treating the bruise and scratch on their arm.

In the next room was Ceaser, making sure his wife is alright, before his attention was set on his friend. Smiling in reassurance and relief.

'How is she?'

'Cornelia is strong. Weak but alive.' Ceaser signs, hearing the hooting next door, eyes on Maurice in confusion 'Who is also up here? Ash? Buck?'

He shakes his head, a softer smile now 'The little human. Blue Eyes follows, set off that alarm, and returned on foot with them. Both are fine.'

Ceaser felt some relief leave him. Only, for a second, till he remembered  something else to ask 'How is their ankle?'

'Swollen. Walks with a limp every step of the way.'

Cornelia stifles a small laugh, signing a quick 'Sounds like trouble. Eager to walk far too soon.'

Each agreed.

All the nurses left you be. Spying your things, in the corner once again, get off the bed to waddle over to grab it.

Yet, instantly, you're picked up and placed back on the bed. Eyes on one of the nurse that remained.

So you sat there, bored out of your mind, soon going to sleep during daylight hours.
