"Keep your eyes on me Kyojuro! Don't die on me now!" A demon, more specifically the upper moon three shouted while throwing punches; his style erratic yet elegantly enticing. He was currently fighting the flame pillar Kyojuro Rengoku; after their train had crashed with a fight against the dream demon - Enmu.
Tanjiro and Inosuke stood there stiffened, unable to join the fight due to their skills not being developed enough yet. All they could do was have hope in their superior and pray for the sun to rise faster.
"Don't die today Kyojuro! Become a demon!" Akaza prepared to counter Rengoku's attack, his keen eyes watching as the pillar steadied for his most powerful form. Rengoku wasn't in good condition, his right eye was crushed, several broken ribs and internal bleeding.
Luckily none of his injuries were fatal yet, however if he kept on like this till sunrise a very different outcome was to happen.
Kyojuro prepared his 'flame dragon' creating a swirling mass of fire in the shape of a mighty beast, his strong hands gripped tightly on the hilt of his sword. Eyes flashed with instinct, a prideful shout escaping the pillar's mouth as he charged against the demon while swinging his blade.
It all happened so quickly.
Dread filled Tanjiro to the very core as the smoke finally cleared. Akaza had his whole fist impaled through Rengoku's lower stomach, around the place of his lower abdomen.
"Kyojuro! You'll die! Say you'll become a demon!" Akaza's eyes shook with worry as Rengoku coughed blood; his hands loosing strength on his sword by the minute. Fortunately the sun was just peaking over the horizon as Rengoku plucked his last bits of strength and held Akaza in place as the sun grew closer.
"Inosuke! Go help Rengoku-san!" Tanjiro yelled desperately, seeing the pillar attempt to hold the demon still. Tanjiro could not move very fast due to the wound on his stomach, so fighting right now wasn't much of an option.
Inosuke did as asked and started to run in their direction, however he was a moment too late. Akaza managed to rip his arm away and retreat to the safety of the woods just in time; making a run for it while the sun wasn't up properly yet.
Tanjiro gasped as Rengoku fell to the floor on his knees, rushing to the aid of the pillar who's body fell limp in his arms. The burgundy boy further panicked as Rengoku's bright eyes slowly started to close from all his injuries.
"Rengoku-san!"

"You we're lucky Rengoku... if his hand would've impaled you even one more centimetre to the right then you would've died. The demon somehow missed all of your important vital organs" Shinobu Kocho informed, fixing the bandages on the pillar's abdomen and eye patch as he rested on the medical bed.
Of corse Kyojuro was happy he was alive, however he blamed himself for letting that demon get away. From his memory Rengoku could remember him to be called; Akaza. From his eyes also Akaza was an upper moon - three.
Rengoku could remember those eyes. inward-tilting with thick pink eyelashes and blue sclera that looked somewhat like cracked glass. Then there was the thick blue lines that carved out his pale skin; Kyojuro didn't know why but it reminded him of something.
Oh yes. Criminal tattoos that's it. The marks that are permanently imbedded on a person if they steal. Rengoku wondered if Akaza was some sort of criminal in his human life?...
"Thank you Shinobu, I appreciate you letting me stay here to heal" Rengoku let a smile tug at his lips while looking out the window in thought. She placed her delicate hand on his shoulder in comfort "you won't be able to fight for a while Rengoku... your injuries are by far the worse I've ever seen. When you were brought here I thought you were dead"
The pillar turned to the woman, every movement making his stomach and ribs rub together in agony "just rest. That's the best you can do right now" with that she left with a sweet hum, fluttering out the door and leaving the pillar to his own thoughts.
His room was lovely and airy, the sweet summer breeze filtering through the large window which was next to his bed; showing off the cherry blossoms which were right outside his room.
The odd petal landed on his thin blankets every once and a while; pushed by the gentle wind. Kyojuro reached out his weakened hand and picked up the soft coloured petal in his hand, holding it up to the natural light which seeped through the glass.
'I wonder if that demon purposefully chose not to kill me...' were the thoughts of Kyojuro as he placed the petal on his bedside stand which had a glass of water on it. He chuckled to himself and placed his hand over the eyepatch 'no. That's stupid he's a demon after all, their incapable of emotions'
Rengoku turned his head to his sword which was propped up against his bed just for reassurance. He grabbed it with a little difficulty and placed it on his bed just in case... he felt a little more relaxed with it by his side; so then he finally let himself give into his fatigued body.

It had been three days since Rengoku was brought to heal in the butterfly estate. Kyojuro wasn't much better, his body refused to stand; the pain much to excruciating. After all there was a literal hole in his abdomen... it was bound to be painful.
He looked unusually pale when Mitsuri had come to visit him. The poor girl cried for hours on end once she heard of what happened, she refused to leave his room for at least half a day until her crow called her for a mission.
Rengoku looked sad today.
The weather almost was the same as his mood, dull and overcast. The low hanging clouds were so thick that not even the sun's rays could penetrate it. For some reason though Kyojuro felt as if something were to happen...
"Here's your antibiotics for today Rengoku-san" Aoi placed a medicine cup in the pillar's hands, smiling a little in his presence. Aoi was normally quite a boisterous young girl, however she was extremely respectful and placid when it came to the Hashira.
"Thank you very much" he put it against his lips and took it in one go, almost instant he could feel the relief in his stomach and ribs. Rengoku sighed and sunk back into his pillow "...uhhh R-Rengoku-san you seem to be a little down today, is there anything I can do to help?"
Kyojuro looked back at the nervous girl "no thank you, I'm quite alright! I do appreciate the worry though" the girl let out a sigh of relief, bowing respectfully and leaving the pillar to rest.
Kyojuro was left to wonder again. He was already getting restless, being inside for almost a week was starting to annoy him. And his injures were nowhere healed yet - heck he could hardly walk!
"Ughhh! This is so very boring" Rengoku wined like a child whom wanted a toy, flopping back on his pillow and slapping his cheeks till they were red.
"That must hurt Kyojuro, surely you're already in a lot of pain?"
'That voice... this presence' were the shaken thoughts of the flame pillar, the unmistakable feeling unmistakably near him. In an instant Rengoku grabbed his sword and jumped out of bed on weak legs.
His knees buckled while he made eye contact with the demon crouching on his windowsill, the sliding glass pulled back to let in the chill of outside.
Akaza wore a smug grin, the gentle breeze making his short cut haori flap in the wind. Rengoku gritted his teeth in pain, the agony from standing almost too much to bear "W-why... are you here..." he wheezed, broken ribs crunching against each other.
Rengoku cursed himself for stuttering. It made him look weak. "Don't strain yourself Kyojuro, those are some nasty injures" the demon stayed in his crouching position, eyeing the weak pillar with interest.
Kyojuro pushed his Kantana into the wooden floorboards in order to support himself to stand; leaning most of his body weight on the hilt.
"I said why are you here"
"Come on now, let me help you back to your bed Kyojuro. I mean no harm you can relax" Akaza dared to take a step into the room, to which Rengoku responded by suddenly pointing his sword at the demon.
"Kyojuro!" Akaza caught the pillar before he fell to the floor, cushioning Rengoku's head in his bare muscular arms. Akaza placed his hand on Kyojuro's forehead, hauling the male bridle style with ease.
Akaza gently placed Kyojuro back on his bed, taking a cloth from the drawer and dampening it with a glass of water.
"Sorry Kyojuro.." Akaza walked over and closed the window so the breeze would no longer harm the pillar. The demon took this time to casually look over Kyojuro, Akaza could admit that he was indeed attractive.
Akaza just loved that fluffy yellow and orange hair, the way his sharp lively eyes and eccentric eyebrows framed his sharp jawline and pale lips.
A sigh escaped Akaza's mouth as he placed the wet cloth on the pillar's head, watching as hot uneven breaths escaped his mouth; cheeks bright red with a terrible fever.
"Kyojuro... your human body is so weak. If only you became a demon, however I won't force you" Akaza brushed his inky blue finger over Rengoku's warm cheek.
The start of the forbidden lovers relationship blossoms.
