I walked across town, looking for the school. To be honest I didn't know where it was, but I knew they had tall buildings, so it couldn't be that hard to find. I walked over a bridge crossing the main river in the city. I stopped for a second to admire the water. The water sparkled as it reflected the sun. It ran free, it could go wherever it wanted to, it could stay where it was supposed to, or it could run over into new terrain. It could choose its own path, unlike some people.

I sighed and continued to walk. After a long while I had found the school. I ran toward the gates, hoping I wasn't late for my first day. I checked my watch, and it was 7:55, and school started at 8:00. "Shoot" I said. I arrived at the golden gates, and looked up. The gates opened slowly, and I walked in the campus.

I was stunned on how big it was. It had twelve building, one for each Zodiac sign. They had a huge lawn, even though no one ever played on it. All of the buildings had a certain colored roof, symbolizing that signs main color.

I ran toward all of the buildings, and looked for the one with the yellow roof, because that was Gemini's main color. It was toward the right. I checked my watch again, 7:58. I ran toward the Gemini building, and suddenly, my body collided into another.

I fell to the ground, my head hitting the ground, like a hammer hitting a nail. I opened my eyes, and the view was blurry. I rubbed my eyes and everything became clearer. "Ughh." The sound came from the person I ran into.

I looked down and it was a boy about my age, with white shaggy hair and brown eyes. He opened his eyes and looked at me. "I'm so sorry" I said. I really didn't know what else to say, so I offered him my hand. He slapped it away and got up himself. My hand burned from his hand hitting it. It began to turn a bright red.

"You really should look where your going!" "Well I tried to help you, but you slapped my hand, and that crap hurt you know!" He looked at me madly and then walked away.

I watched him walk away, and he walked into the building with a red roof. He was an Aries.

I looked down at my watch, and it read 8:10. "Crap I'm late." I ran inside the building. I knew my first class was English, so I ran toward the classroom. The once silent hallway, was now bouncing around sounds of my feet hitting the cold tile floor. I arrived at the classroom and opened the door.

I walked inside, and all attention was now focused on me. "So nice of you to join us, Akari. Your late. Detention, right after school." I wanted to protest, but my voice wouldn't work. All my mouth focused on was to catch my breath. I nodded and slowly walked to my seat.

I sat down and I could hear something behind me. A couple of girls were laughing and snickering about me. I scoffed and turned around. Just great, my first day I'm late, I have detention, and people hate me. This is going to be a wonderful year.

After a couple more classes, it was lunch. I was last in line, and I was absolutely starving. Finally when it was my turn to get food, the lunch workers dumped a big green glob of food on my tray. I stood there for a minute thinking there would be more, but there wasn't.

I walked away and sat at a table by myself. The table was in a small corner. I guessed no one ever sat at this table, because it was covered with dust and cobwebs were tangled in the corner. I looked up to see all the other Gemini's talking and chatting about there life's, and I was all alone, in a gross, dusty corner.

I sighed and looked down at my food. It was a big green glob of, who knows what. I knew I wasn't going to eat that. I just played around with it with my fork. After a while, a figure sat in front of me. I looked up and she smiled at me. She had long dark brown hair and blue eyes.

"Hi I'm Harumi, nice to meet you." She extended her hand out for me and I slowly shook it. "I'm Akari" I said slowly. She nodded. "Why are you sitting here alone" she asked. "Oh I just have no friends" I said. "Yeah neither do I. I'm a misfit. Hey you want to be friends" she asked.

I was never the one to except a cheesy offer like that, but I guess if I was going to stay here all year, I might as well except the offer. "Sure" I said plainly. She nodded and the bell rang, signaling that lunch was over.

I dumped my gross glob in the trash can, where it belonged and walked to math class. Now that I have a friend, maybe this year won't be that bad after all.
