Chapter One.

The orange shadows of the afternoon sun cast through the thin black curtains and filled the large room with a dim light.

Judah stood in front of a body length black brass mirror as he studied his suit for the celebration tonight. The celebration was for his sixteenth birthday and his father had gone out of his way to make sure it was perfect for his progeny.

The thin fabric of his black suit faded well with his unnaturally pale skin. The blue tie that Judah wore made his blue eyes appear even brighter than they were. Judah combed back the stray hairs from his long snow white hair as he exhaled loudly.

" Prince Judah? They are ready for you, sire." The tall, lanky figure of Judah's caretaker and butler appeared seemingly out of thin air. But this was normal, Judah's kind was known for their teleportation abilities and often used it as a means of travel, instead of cars or airplanes. Actual vehicles were only used when absolutely necessary, such as a business meeting or an emergency.

" I'll be down in a minute, Grave." Judah said after a moment of silence.

" Of course...but if I may...I would not keep your father waiting, your highness." Grave said cautiously, staying well beyond Judah's reach, in case Judah made a move to strike him. It was useless of course, Judah's species was also known for their telekinesis manipulation, so if Judah wanted to hit him, he could.

But Judah wasn't like his father, King Azazel was a cruel ruler who used fear as a means for control, while Judah was kind and understanding, not unlike his mother.

" I'll be down in a few minutes. I just need to gather my thoughts. Thank you, Grave " Judah said nodding to the very tall and thin man.

Grave simply bowed and exited the room, leaving Judah alone once again. Judah faced the mirror yet again and straightened his tie, taking in deep breaths to calm his nerves.

" Let's get this over with." The young male said as he whipped around and walked out of his room, swiftly shutting the door behind him as he went.

Judah slowly walked down the long black marble staircase as he studied the party below.

Masses of men and women waltzed together in close proximity. Judah wouldn't be surprised if his father had invited the entire kingdom, that's just how many people were there.

Judah's father, King Azazel sat on his large ebony throne as he observed the party with an emotionless expression.

His wife, Queen Mayia sat on her ivory throne beside her husband, her glowing blue eyes darted around the room, like she was looking for a way to escape. But she was always like that, timid and shy, her mate wouldn't allow her free spirit to come out. She always had to agree with him, be submissive, or face the consequences.

King Azazel's coal black eyes landed and Judah and he gave a large, obviously fake smile as he climbed to his feet.

" Everyone, I'd like to introduce my son and your future king, Prince Judah." King Azazel called rather loudly, applause came from the crowd below but nobody was actually excited. Everyone feared King Azazel and assumed that Judah was the exact same, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

" Hello everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to come to my age coming celebration." Judah said with a kind smile. The crowd applauded politely but all assumed that he was acting nice to get their respect, as his father did.

" Well, have fun, enjoy the night and the wonders it brings." Judah said with a light bow before he quickly continued his descent down the stairs. The music continued and everyone began to dance yet again.

" Wise words from someone so young." A females voice said from behind him.

Judah swiftly turned to reply but stopped and stared, slack jawed at the woman in front of him. She looked no more than a few years older than himself, that was for sure. But she was absolutely stunning to him. She wore a simple yet elegant black ball gown that had long sleeves that ended just above her elbows. Her skin was pale and smooth, with no visible scars or freckles. She had long, light pink hair that was almost white, it had a healthy shine to it in the dim ballroom lights. Her hair was wore in soft ringlets around her shoulders and a single black clip pinned her bangs out of her eyes. She wore an elegant black mask that luckily didn't hide much of her face so there wasn't much left to the imagination. Her lips were a pale crimson color and were curled in a cocky smirk as she gazed at him, her pale pink eyes shining with defiance and mischief.

" Age does not come with wisdom, wisdom is something that comes when you're patient enough to listen and learn." Judah said after her finally snapped out of his daze, his pale skin tinted red with a light blush.

" True enough. My name is Elle." The woman said with a slight bow.

" Judah. Pleasure to make your acquaintance." Judah said taking her hand and placing a kiss on the top of her hand.

" That's to be determined." Elle said with a playful wink before she walked away, leaving Judah to stand in stunned silence.

Judah smiled silently and fixed his jacket before he quickly followed the mysterious young woman, she intrigued him immensely and he needed to know more.
