"if I find you I will kill you," these were the final words of your abusive Boyfriend and they were said before you ran. 

"Miss (Y/N) can I help you with anything?" the Landlord of your new apartment asks

"Yes, can you give me the directions to the district attorney's office for work tomorrow please?" you ask because you don't know where everything is 

"do you have some paper I could use?" he asks so he can fulfil your request

"here," you reply as you get your notepad

He takes the notepad and he starts writing

"so (Y/N) why did you decide to move to NY?" your landlord asks as he writes down the instructions

"It's complicated but to put it simply I needed a jab," you reply not wanting to think of the threat your ex made

"ok well here are the directions, I hope you get there safely," the Landlord remarks as he passes you the notepad

"thank you so much," you respond, taking the notepad

"no worries," the landlord replies

A day later you are laying in bed with an hour left before your alarm will go off so you decide to get ready early. You are nervous for two reasons one being the fact it's your first day and second of all you haven't got over the fact your boyfriend is now your ex. 

"Ok let's do this," you utter to convince yourself you have made the right decision

Two hours later you are ready so you decide to leave early 

Thirty minutes later you have arrived at the New York district attorney's office and you are a little lost

"excuse me can I help you?" a man asks

"um yes you can I'm new here," you say really cautious 

"Oh, you must be (Y/N) let me show you around," the man responds obviously remembering the fact that there was a new person coming

"and my name is Rafael Barba," he starts walking off

"nice to meet you," you respond as you follow him but you are hesitant

Five minutes later you and Barba have made it to an empty desk. You are looking at it with a saddened expression

"so (Y/N) this will be your desk are you all right?" Barba asks noticing the look on your face

"yea I'm just thinking about the circumstances for my arrival in New York," you reply a little downtrodden

"well there should be a case coming soon so maybe that would get your mind off things," he responds 

"thanks for your help," you respond with a nice smile 

"No worries," Rafael replies
