-Chapter 4-
(Victor's Point of View)
I had sent my lovely dog to accompany Megumi to the springs otherwise Yuri would have killed me for leaving her alone at night. On the flip side if he had seen us enter at the same time he would have killed me. Makkachin was the best scenario, the only one where I didn't die to my pupil's wrath.
I watched the waves crash down onto the sand as my thoughts went back to Megumi, she was a very interesting woman. Her skating was phenomenal even though she lacked confidence in herself because of all the rumors.
I had heard of course about her before the mask ever went on, people were quick to judge her and put her on the chopping block. Everyone wanted to be her and take the spotlight she stole in her debut, but they didn't want to work as hard as she had. People began to compare the fifteen year old to me, not caring how that made her feel.
I had thought her short program was impressive for such a young short girl, even back then I saw great things for her future. I had watched her Free skate live wondering how the young girl would tackle the rumors.
My heart broke watching her self destruct for all of the world to see, that was no way to start a career. Or in her case it was how she ended hers, instead of trying to face the world again with the whispers of her failures to greet her was too much.
I was surprised that I hadn't figured it out sooner even with her hair dyed and a mask on her face the core of her skating was there. If you compared the first performance and the ones with the mask they were similar in almost every way. Even as Katsuki Megumi during the short program she had carried herself with the same grace and confidence that she does with the mask.
"Oi Victor." I turned my head confused at the voice surely it wasn't... I stared at the young blonde who was sporting his usual tiger hoodie.
"Yurio?" I tilted my head wondering why at this time of night Yurio was showing up here, I hadn't forgotten another promise again had I? I shivered at the thought.
"I decided that I needed a break from Yakov." He didn't go further into detail instead he plopped down next to me looking out to the sea.
Now where was I, ah yes I honestly am a bit depressed that I hadn't recognized it sooner. However I guess its fairly easy to blend away while still standing out. She hid herself in plain sight and this time her mask kept the rumors from-
"Oi this is so boring, let's go Victor!"
(Megumi's Point of View)
The night had quickly past by with my peaceful slumber, for once I had no nightmares to plague my dreams. Perhaps I should have taken the good dreams as a bad omen, because one Yuri Plisetsky was sitting on my favorite chair cushion eating my favorite meal. Pork Cutlet Bowls.
Victor seemed to notice me first his eyes flitting over my face seeing the amount of rage I was in, he almost broke into laughter. A moment later Yuri looked up at me nonchalantly he burst into laughter.
"Hi Sis, Yurio decided to visi-" I cut him off dragging him over to the scene of the crime, was I being dramatic? Yes. But I was in no way a morning person and I needed my favorite chair cushion.
"Yuri get that cat out of my favorite chair cushion." More laughter bubbled from Victor and I immediately knew why I shot him a dirty glare not appreciating his laughter. My glare only increased as he mouthed the words.
'Ironic choice of words, hm snow leopard?'
"Come on sis surely-" He didn't get to finish being cut off again only this time it was Victor. With a simple tug he had me falling into his lap.
"Vi-Victor!" I stuttered out my eyes wide and a surprised blush settling on my face. I certainly hadn't expected that.
"Victor!" Yuri shouted his teeth grinding inside his mouth as he watched us. His anger was rolling off of him in waves, all targeted towards Victor.
"It's fine Bro Biscuit, Victor was just playing around." I shrugged out of his lap before standing up.
"Right Victor?" I looked back at him giving him one opportunity to stay alive and not have to face my protective brother. He quickly nodded seeing the red slowly begin to turn purple from lack of oxygen on Yuri's face.
"Ok." He replied sitting down across from the pair, I quickly made my way over making sure to avoid Victor.
"I want a pork cut-" Much to my own demise I had waited too long to be able to get my desired food as my greatest obstacle interrupted me.
"Your family tends to gain weight easily, no pork cutlet bowls." Abbison brought out a bowl of lettuce leaves, basil, and spinach. My face stared blankly at the three green foods, was I a rabbit? I thought Leopards ate meat.
I turned my attention towards her the blank look never leaving my face. However she ignored me walking out the door saying as she left, "Practice starts in an hour."
I stared over at Yurio's bowl of pork cutlets, then back at my rabbit food. I could tell that Yuri was close to laughter, which wasn't a good idea on his part.
"I'll kill yo-" I started to lunge for him only for a bowl of pork cutlet to be placed in front of me. My bloodlust subsided for just a small moment as I looked to see if it was real.
"I'll eat the rabbit food." Victor grabbed my bowl of leaves starting to munch on them like they were air.
"Arigato Victor." A blush settled on my ears and I looked away for a moment, before I took in the food of the heavens before me.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I took it in, the aroma, the texture, and finally the first bite hit my mouth. I moaned closing my eyes and letting the flavors take me on a journey.
"Oi! What's with you two and Pork Cutlet bowls. It's just fo-" I gave Yurio a deadly glare for insulting my precious meal, but not for long as another piece took me away.
My tastebuds happiness overruling my heads irritation for the blondie with an attitude. Eventually we had all finished our meals, even Victor with the rabbit food.
As I began to walk away Victor pulled me into the hall, being careful not to attract the attention of my brother. Who would most certainly kill him on the spot.
"Thank you Victor for the pork cutlet bowl." I muttered not sure why he had pulled me aside like this.
"Well a Leopard deserves more than a rabbit's meal."
I stared at him for a minute before breaking into silent giggles. "That's what I thought to." I muttered soft enough for only our ears.
"Really thank you." I looked down watching him from underneath my eyelashes, "It meant a lot."
"Of course, just don't tell Abbison." He held his finger to his mouth whispering a 'shh' sound and I mimicked it.
We both went our separate ways with smiles on our faces. I knew I couldn't ever be with him, but perhaps we could be friends after all.
