Floating
It must be the waves of heat
That are making me delirious,
The ground has left my feet
But I'm not scared, only curious.
The world is encased in a shimmery coating,
As far I'm concerned, I am weightless, floating.
The ground gets smaller and the temperature shifts,
My brain invisible and numb as my heart lifts.
The Jo you've known has dissolved in the sun;
The creature before you was born in oblivion.
Clever souls, each with a new
diagnosis,
As if their words could melt the coldness,
I feel the atmosphere freezing over my head;
Speak forever, but your words are already dead.
My balloons, in the sky, drift toward the sunset;
Tears- or rain- stain my face, the clouds are upset-
Or maybe crying tears of joy witnessing my flight,
The ultimate freedom is an emotional sight.
Giving love is pointless if you plan to take it back,
You paint you heart gold as if I've never seen the black;
Sister, you told me I was your world, I was everything,
So why did you not take my hand to fly with your sibling?
If I cared enough, I'd chase the shattered memories;
Instead, I hold on to my balloon and fly for centuries.
The world will never see the place where I'm going-
As far as I'm concerned, I am weightless, floating.
