The she-cat padded over to the water's edge. As she peered at it, she saw fish, all kinds of fish, and leaves floating on the water's surface, lost. Curious, she dabbed at the water. Fish zipped away with a flick of their feathery-like tails, and ripples went out from the area where she dabbed. The moonlight shone on the ground, making the ground look as if it was covered in a silver blanket. The moon reflected on the water, and no matter how she dabbed at it, the moon would still stay.

"Having fun?" A voice sounded behind her. She whipped around, surprised, water spraying everywhere. 

It was a black cat, his eyes amber-like fire. But his gaze was friendly. 

"Who are you?" The she-cat hissed. "Why are you here on my territory?" 

The black cat rolled his eyes, and murmured, "I couldn't stop looking at your pelt. It is gorgeous." 

The she-cat licked her chest fur embarrassedly. Her fur was as white as snow, and her eyes shone like sapphires in the soft glow of the moon. 

"But who are you? You haven't given me any answer yet!" The she-cat whispered.

The black cat breathed, "My name is Shadowbreeze. And you are beautiful." 

The she-cat blushed, and she was sure that her purr was trembling the ground. 

"And who are you?" Shadowbreeze cocked his head. 

"Oh, my name is Whitewind." The she-cat replied. 

The she-cat butted Shadowbreeze's shoulder playfully. "What are you doing out here in the middle of the night, Shadowbreeze?" 

Shadowbreeze murmured, "I couldn't sleep. I had a feeling to walk out here tonight. And I found... you." His voice was beside her ear.

Suddenly Shadowbreeze licked her ruffled fur. The she-cat felt like a kit again, letting Shadowbreeze lick her fur. 

Shadowbreeze said something that made Whitewind surprised. "Do you want to be my mate?"

"B-But we only met for a single night!" Whitewind said. How would she reproduce in her clan if no one could be her kit's fake father? She knew that Smokefur had been around her lately, and he could the kit's adoptive father. 

But it didn't sound right to Whitewind. Betraying her clan, mating with a rogue, and tricking Smokefur into thinking that he was their father?

"B-but..." Shadowbreeze protested.

"I'm sorry, I can not mate with you. I have to be loyal to my clan." Whitewind sighed and turned back to the lake. 

"Then why are you here, out in the middle of the night?" Shadowbreeze sounded a little disappointed and angry. 

"Because I couldn't sleep. I'm going back to camp now. I'm going to have a mate in camp, Smokefur. Please, go away. I'm not betraying the Warrior Code." Whitewind started back towards the camp.

"Please! Stay with me!" Shadowbreeze begged.

"I'm sorry. As I said, I'm being loyal to the Warrior Code." Whitewind padded up the slope. She peeked and saw Shadowbreeze following her. "Stop following me!" She sped up her paw pace and ran back to camp. It's a good thing that I'm the fastest runner in the clan! She thought as she ran. 

Shadowbreeze couldn't keep up anymore. He yelled after her, "I will show you what it is like when you like someone and they reject you and choose someone over you! I will show you!"

Whitewind gasped. What did she do by befriending this cat? It would change her life and a bigger risk of being killed. But I will eventually join StarClan. But I made a mistake, and this will change my life.
