CHAPTER NINETEEN
"Why?" Nyx complains as she looks between the three boys. "Why The Omen?"
"What do you have against horror movies all of a sudden?" Jeremy questions as he turns to his sister. "You used to love them."
"Yeah, when we would actually watch other genres as well. Horror and slasher is all this one will watch." She points at Dean, and he shrugs with an amused smile on his face.
"What can I say?" He hums, and his girlfriend glares at him.
"Why don't we see a comedy? Click just came out." She suggests. "Adam Sandler's great. Let's watch that."
"I think I'll pass on that. Thanks." Jeremy says, and Sam shakes his head as he listens to them argue. He's now regretting his suggestion that they even see a movie.
"Okay. What about Dead Man's Chest?"
"You just wanna watch Orlando Bloom for two hours."
"I'm trying to give us more options."
"Oh, please. You've had a crush on him for years." He argues. "Him and Johnny Depp."
"Why the hell are you being so damn stubborn?" She questions.
"Okay." Dean interrupts. "Sam, what do you want to watch?"
"I don't care anymore." He shakes his head.
"What do you mean? You're the one who suggested The Omen." Jeremy says.
"Alright, Sam — you and Jeremy go see The Omen." He tells his brother. "We'll go do something else. I think some separation will be good for these two anyway." He says, and Nyx sticks her tongue out at her brother.
"Yeah, okay." Sam nods. "You guys take the car. The theater isn't that far from the motel. We'll see you later." He says and then grabs the hood of Jeremy's sweater and drags him away.
"Ow. Hey, what did I do?" Jeremy questions, their voices growing fainter as he pulls him in the opposite direction of his sister.
Dean pulls into a parking space fifteen minutes later, and Nyx's dark eyes narrow as she looks out the window beside him. "What are we doing here, Dean? You hate coming to places like this."
"You cheated and I caved, remember?" Dean smirks at her. "Come on."
"No." She shakes her head as she looks at him. "Messing with you is amusing, but I'm not gonna make you do this again. Let's go somewhere else."
"You watch movies that you hate all the time just because I like them. And we've only done this twice." He argues, but she still doesn't move to get out of the car. "Why am I the one trying to convince you to go in there? Come on, let's go."
"Dean..." She sighs.
He gets out of the driver's seat and walks over to her side of the car. Once her door's open, he kneels down so he can look up at her. "Once the twins are born, we won't be able to do stuff like this that often. We should take advantage of the opportunity while we still can."
"I don't want to make you do something that you don't wanna do." She says as she looks down at him. "I was just teasing you before."
"You wanna know the truth?" He asks. "I don't hate it as much as I like you to believe I do." He tells her, and she chuckles as she looks at him.
"I knew it." She says, and he nods. "I could tell while we were dancing last time."
"Come on." He motions toward the club and stands up straight. She takes a deep breath before climbing out of the car, and they make their way inside.
Neither of them are really dressed for a club, but neither of them cares at all either. Nyx leads him to where everyone else is dancing, and his hands find her waist as she starts moving to the music. The couple stays close together as the night goes on, but they don't stay at the club for very long.
The couple ends up at a diner, in a similar position as the last time they went out after going to a club. They're sitting in a booth, on the same side of the table, and Nyx's feet are in his lap as they eat and talk.
"You know," Nyx starts, and Dean looks back at her. "I just passed the five month mark."
"Mhm." He nods.
"Have you thought any more about if you want me to text Meredith to find out the sex of the babies? " She asks.
"I don't think I want to know until they're born." He tells her, much to her surprise.
"Really?"
He nods. "But if you wanna ask her so you can know, that's fine by me." He says. "I want to wait, that doesn't mean you have to."
"No, if you're gonna wait, I wanna wait." She says, and he smiles at her.
"You don't have to." He repeats.
"I know." She nods. "Should we think about names at least? For both genders."
"We could do that." He nods. "Any suggestions?"
"Hm." She pauses for a second. "Well, what about Dean Jr.?"
"No." He shakes his head. "We're not naming either of them Dean or John or after anyone else either." He says. "The only person I'd even consider naming them after is Jenna. Or your parents, maybe."
"What about after your mom?" She asks, and he shakes his head.
"Her death is what started all this."
"Yeah, but... And not to sound disrespectful, but if she hadn't... We probably never would've met. The twins wouldn't exist."
"I just don't really want to name them after anyone." He says, and she nods.
"Okay. That's fine." She gives him a small smile. "We don't have to."
"Melissa?" He suggests, and she thinks about it for a second.
"That can definitely be a possibility." She says, and he smiles. "Max?"
"Sounds like a dog's name." He says, and she laughs as she gives him an incredulous look.
"Andrew?"
"Maybe." He nods. "What about Elizabeth?"
"I do like it, however, that's Sheriff Forbes' name. And Caroline's middle name." She tells him, and he nods.
"Andrea?" He suggests. "Alexandria?"
"I'm sensing a theme to your suggestions."
"And what's that?" He asks, and she just looks at him. "Okay, so maybe I want girls."
She smiles. "I'm gonna laugh if we have two boys." She says, and he shrugs.
"I'll love them just the same." He tells her, and her smile widens.
"Oh!" She suddenly yells, and he puts his hand over her mouth as a few people turn their heads to look at them.
"What's gotten into you?" He asks as he moves his hand.
"We have to get baby clothes. Tiny shirts and tiny pants..." Her eyes widen as she smiles. "And tiny shoes!"
"Stop that." He puts his hand over her mouth again. "I can't take you anywhere." He mutters, and she nips at his hand. "That's nice."
"We have to get the tiny shoes." She insists, and he chuckles as he looks at her. "Or I'll bite you again."
"Promise?" He smirks, and she narrows her eyes at him. "How are we gonna get clothes without knowing the sexes?"
She pushes out her bottom lip in a pout as her eyebrows furrow. Dean chuckles as he looks at her, thinking how adorable she looks when she does that.
"We'll figure something out." He tells her, and she smiles. Then he leans over and presses his lips to hers.
—
Nyx starts to wake up the next morning and a faint smile pulls at her lips when she feels Dean beside her. She's laying on her back, and Dean's facing her with his arm across her torso. He pulls her closer to him once he realizes that she's now awake as well.
He then presses a soft kiss to her shoulder, and she turns her head to look at him. "Good morning." She smiles.
"It is every day that I wake up next to you." He says, and she chuckles.
"And when exactly did you turn into the gushy type?" She teases.
"Only with you." Is all he says.
"Madison." The name suddenly pops into her head, and he thinks about it for a second.
"No, I still prefer Melissa." He tells her, and she looks up at the ceiling, trying to think of more names.
This is what they did the whole way back to the motel last night. It's what they were doing when they fell asleep — trying to pick out names that they liked. Two girls and two boys, since they don't know the babies' sexes yet.
Dean smiles as he watches her face as she continues to think it over. Her eyes dart around, almost like she's searching through a list, and she's biting her bottom lip. She's so lost in her own thoughts about baby names that she has no idea how he's looking at her.
Over the last year, he's come to realize something that he's both absolutely certain and completely terrified of — he never wants to live his life without this woman again.
"You're staring." Nyx says suddenly, and he chuckles.
"So?" He shrugs, and she suddenly gasps as her hands move to her stomach. "What?"
She grabs his hand and places it on the top of her small baby bump. "Aw, come on. You were just moving." She mutters as she lightly pushes on her bump. She moves his hand again, and his eyes widen when he feels the small movement from one of the babies.
"That's them?" It's the first time he's ever felt the twins move. Every time she's tried to show him before, they'd stop. It's been driving him crazy.
"Yeah." She says with a wide smile as they move a little more.
"Wow." He says, and she turns to face him so she's laying on her side as well.
She smiles as she looks into his bright apple green eyes, and she moves closer to him. Everything about him is so perfect to her. He can be so kind and sweet, but still strong, and he has this fearlessness about him. He's warm, and she feels absolutely and completely safe in his arms. She just can't imagine her life without him in it.
Dean kisses her forehead as she looks up at him, making her smile widen, as always. She then leans forward and presses her lips to his, and he adjusts himself on the bed as he pushes her onto her back again. Soon he's hovering over her, and a smile spreads across his lips as he looks down at her.
He pulls his t-shirt that she slept in off of her, and she pulls him back down to kiss him again. He lightly bites her lower lip before trailing kisses down her jaw and neck, to her shoulder, then her chest. She lets out a soft moan, and he smiles as he continues to kiss down her bare body.
