18. Klaus

"What are we doing in the middle of the woods?" a confused Lily asked, following Klaus, "I thought you said you weren't going to kidnap me yet".

Klaus chuckled, "I'm not kidnapping you" he assured, "Have you ever been to the waterfalls?".

"Yeah, when I had a habit of getting high" a sheepish Lily replied.

"So you've never been there sober?" Klaus asked, "You've never stop and just appreciated it's beauty?".

"You find the falls beautiful?" Lily asked.

"After living as long as I have, you learn to appericate nature's beauty" Klaus replied.

"I never used to like nature, but that changed when I triggered my curse" Lily admitted, "After that, the only place I could feel peace was in the woods, surrounded by the thing I used to hate, nature".

Klaus looked at Lily, "Me too" he admitted, as he and Lily arrived at the falls.

Arriving there, Lily looked at the waterfall infront of her and a small smile formed on her face, "I guess you were right, it is beautiful".

"Yes it is" Klaus whispered, not looking at the falls but instead looking at Lily, who was busy admiring the water.

After a moment, Lily turned to Klaus, "So, are you finally going to tell me your story?" she asked.

"My story is a long one, you sure you have time for it?" Klaus asked.

Lily sat on the ground and patted the patch of grass next to her, indicating for Klaus to sit, "Lucky for you, my schedule is free today, so let's start story time, shall we?".

Klaus sat next to Lily, "We shall" he whispered, staring at the water infront of him, a thoughtful expression on his face.

"Where would you like for me to start my story?" Klaus asked.

"Start with you and Elijah" Lily said, "Who is he to you?".

"Elijah" Klaus said, a small smile on his face, "Elijah is my brother".

"I'm sorry, what?!" a shocked Lily asked, "Elijah is your what now?!".

Klaus chuckled at Lily's reaction, "Elijah is my brother, Lily" he repeated.

"Yeah, you're going to have to give my brain a second to process that" Lily stated, her brain having a hard time believing that Klaus and Elijah were related.

"Take your time" an amused Klaus said, "Like you said, we have all day".

"Wait" Lily said after a moment of silence, "If you and Elijah are siblings, does that mean they are more of you? Like your other family remember? Wait, do you even have any other family? And I did know mean that in a rude way, I just mean like Damon and Stefan are each other's only family, is that the same thing with you and Elijah".

"You definitely have a tendency to ramble, don't you?" an amused Klaus asked Lily.

"Only when my brain is working fast to connect all the dots" a sheepish Lily replied, feeling slightly embarrassed.

"Well to help your brain out a bit, let me tell you about my family" Klaus said, "Our father was a wealthy landowner in a village in Eastern Europe, our mother had seven children".

"Since you guys are the first vampires, I'm guessing your parents were normal humans?" Lily asked.

Klaus nodded his head, "We all were human once upon a time" he said, "Our origin as vampires is a story for another day little luna, right now all you need to know is that our family is the oldest family of vampires in this world, and from us came all these other vampires".

"One day I'm hearing that origin of vampires story from you" Lily stated.

"And one day I'll tell you" Klaus promised.

"Good" Lily said, "Now back to the main topic, what did you do that made Elijah hate you so much that he now wants to kill his own brother?".

Klaus looked at Lily, "You know, you never did give me the last dance".

Lily narrowed her eyes at Klaus, "You're avoiding the question".

"I'm not avoiding anything" Klaus assured, standing up from the ground, "I promised you answers and that's exactly what I'm giving you, in return the least you can do is give me that dance".

Klaus held his hand for Lily, who after a sigh put her hand in his and let him pull her up and the two slowly started swaying to the sound of the waterfall behind them.

"This is weird" Lily commented.

"How so?" a slightly confused Klaus asked.

"You're in my history teacher's body" Lily reminded, "It feels weird dancing with you".

Klaus chuckled, "Well, you know how I look like, so just imagine me here instead of your history teacher" he said.

"My imagination isn't that great" Lily complained, as Klaus span her around and pulled her back towards him.

"Close your eyes" Klaus instructed.

"Why?" a slightly suspicious Lily asked.

"I'm helping you imagine" Klaus replied.

"It's not going to help" Lily stated.

"Have some faith" Klaus said.

"You're a stranger, I can't have faith in you" Lily retorted.

"Then don't have faith in me, have faith in yourself" Klaus said, "Have faith that if I try anything funny then you will easily kick my ass".

"You are an original so that's not possible but I do like the thought" Lily said, finally closing her eyes, "Now what?".

"Now keep your eyes closed and just imagine that it's not the history teacher with you, it's just me" Klaus instructed, "Feel me Lily, just me".

Lily took a deep breath and followed Klaus's instructions and after a moment she did start imagining Klaus's real face here with her instead of Alaric's, her senses were filled with nothing but Klaus's presence.

"Keep your eyes closed and ask the next question" Klaus told Lily, his one hand on her waist, while the other laced their fingers together.

"Why do you want to break the sun and moon curse?" Lily asked, her eyes still closed.

"Ah, the sun and moon curse almost forgot about that" Klaus said, his gaze stuck on Lily's face, he was memorizing every detail of her face.

Lily eyes shot open hearing Klaus's words, "Excuse me?" she asked, "You forgot about the curse you're here to break?".

Klaus smirked, "I'm not here to break the sun and moon curse Lily, the only reason I put that curse out in the world was to discover the existence of the doppelganger and to find the long lost moonstone".

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" a shocked Lily asked.

"What do you think I'm saying?" Klaus asked.

"That the sun and moon curse is fake?" Lily questioned.

"That is exactly what I'm saying" Klaus confirmed

"About a thousand years ago, me and Elijah faked the sun and moon curse" Klaus informed.

"Wait, I'm so confused" Lily admitted, "I thought you wanted Elena because of this curse, so if there's no curse, why do you want to kill Elena?".

"I never said there was no curse" Klaus clarified.

"Sorry, what exactly are you saying?" Lily asked, feeling like her brain was going  to explode.

"I'm saying that there is a curse, not on vampires and werewolves, but on me" Klaus revealed, making Lily look at him in shock, "A curse I've been trying to break since the very beginning, and finally I have everything I need to break it".

"You can't just tell me you're cursed and then shut your mouth Klaus!" Lily snapped, walking behind Klaus as they hiked up a hill.

Klaus sighed, "Our whole family was quiet close when we were human, all except me and my father, when we were turned into vampires that's when the truth of his hatred came out, I was not my father's son, mother had been been unfaithful many years before and I was the result of it, her darkest secret was the fact that I came from a different bloodline, and then when our father found out who the man was, he hunted down and killed my mother's lover and his entire family, not realising that because of that, a war would be starting between two species, a war that rages even today".

"What species?" a confused Lily asked, stumbling on her feet.

"The vampires and the werewolves" Klaus revealed, grabbing Lily's hand and helping her climb.

Lily looked at Klaus, "If your real father came from a werewolf bloodline, that means you have the werewolf gene in you as well, so what are you Klaus, a vampire or a werewolf?".

Klaus looked at Lily, a smirk on his face, "I'm both" he revealed.

"I'm sorry what?!" a shocked Lily asked, "You're a werewolf as well?!".

"I triggered my curse a thousand years ago, the same night that the witches made sure my werewolf side would stay dormant" Klaus said, a bitter expression on his face remembering that night.

"You were begging Elijah to stop them" Lily whispered, making Klaus look at her in confusion, wondering how she knew, "I didn't see it, but I heard you once telling your brother, which I'm guessing is Elijah, to stop them from doing this to you".

"Well, he didn't stop them" Klaus stated, "Hence why we are all standing here today".

Klaus and Lily sat on top of the hill, watching the sunset.

"I'm adopted" Lily blurted out, making Klaus look at her, "And my adoptive father hates me as well", Lily looked at Klaus, "I was one month when my adoptive mother, Liz Forbes, found me on the borders of Mystic Fall, the person who my parents handed me over to, was dead next to the basket I was in, I had no one left, all I had with me was the note that let mom know that I was now all alone in this world, which is why she took me in, much to Bill, my adoptive father's dismay, he never liked me, and I never liked him".

"Did you never try to find out about your biological parents?" Klaus asked.

"Trust me, I tried" Lily replied, "I tried so damn hard, and Mason, a friend of mine, he found something out but before he could tell me, Damon Salvatore killed him".

"Do you still want to know about them?" Klaus asked.

"More than anything in this world" Lily admitted.

"Then I'll help you" Klaus said.

"What?" Lily asked, not sure she heard Klaus correctly.

"I'll help you find out about your biological parents" Klaus repeated.

"And why will you do that?" a confused Lily asked.

Klaus shrugged, "Do I need a reason?" he asked.

"Yes" Lily replied, "You're the big bad original, I find it hard to believe you will help me without a agenda".

"I never said I'll help you without something in return" Klaus clarified.

"Now that sounds about right" Lily said, "What do you want from me?".

"I'll tell you, but not right now" Klaus replied.

"Then when?" Lily asked.

"Soon" Klaus replied simply.

Lily shook her head at the original, "You know, we talked about everything except the dreams today".

"We can talk about the dreams some other time" Klaus assured.

"If I wasn't so tired, then I would have argued with you, but since I am tired, I am ready to reschedule" Lily said.

"Good" Klaus said, standing up and forwarding his hand towards Lily, " Come on, it's time".

"Time for what?" Lily asked curiously, placing her hand in Klaus's and letting him pull her up.

"Time for you to meet me in my body" Klaus informed.

Lily stood in Alaric's apartment, watching as Greta and Maddox, kneeled on the floor while chanting, Lily was too fascinated by what she was seeing to pay attention to the way Katherine Pierce was looking at her.

Suddenly the flames on the candles around the apartment got higher and Alaric let out a gasp, straight away his eyes landed on Katherine, immediately confusing him, "Elena?" Alaric wondered out loud, wondering what Elena was doing in his apartment, and then he fell to the floor unconscious.

Maddox then stood up from the floor and opened the box in which Klaus's body was.

Klaus stepped out of the box, he looked at Alaric's unconscious body and then at Greta and Maddox, "Now that's more like it" he smirked, before turning to Lily, "So?".

"If you're expecting a compliment then you should know I don't know how to do that" Lily said, "But I will say, I'm just glad now I won't have to close my eyes to dance with you".

Klaus chuckled, "No you won't" he said.
