it's been a while!

First off, I would like to say sorry. I really like where this story is going and I want to continue with it. I'm sorry it took me so long with writing, but life is crazy. So without further adu, here is the story.

It's been months sense Sapphire and I said goodbye to one another, every night before I go to sleep, I wonder how she is, if she is safe, or if she is missing me too.
My training went on even after I beat Pitch, I got so good at hand to hand, even Lily had a hard time taking me on. When it came to weaponry, I was hopeless with anything considered a sword or staff. Lifting even a light weight katana threw off my balance, making it impossible to fight without extending my wings part way, which would be disastrous if struck by a sword. When it came to guns, I was a dead shot, my bird sight giving me all the advantage I needed.
I ended up spending most of my time with TigerLily, her blue eyes captivating, yet her words and actions spastic, as if she wasn't sure what to do with herself most of the time, or she wasn't sure how to express herself.
Blaze ignored me, but Shay was friendly, even when I was weary of her, birds and cats don't mix well, at least that's what I thought. She was smart and quick, her reflexes and wit out ranking almost everyone, except for Dusk. It seemed as if Blaze and Shay were the leaders, although no one ever put it into words.
I loved flying with Dusk and Lily, I've never flown with another person before I met the group, not even my parents, I had been too young to learn when they were killed. The flow of wind over my feathers, the feel of banking as a team, sometimes I led the other two, sometimes not. Always circling above our current location, or out on missions.
The main mission was to bring more ad-mans into the group. We spotted a few from the air, but most had hunters on their tail.
One in particular Caught my eye. A young man with shoulder length hair, was dancing in front of a group of hunters, his pitch black wings half unfolded as he dodged and swayed in front of the one in the lead. My sharp vision caught a soft blur as bullets left the gun in the lead hunters hand.
His grin showed his delight, and I realized he was toying with the hunters.
I drifted on the different updrafts, watching. His speed and agility was too much for the hunters, and they cursed, shouting at him and shooting their guns more rapidly.
He laughed and lurched forward, my eyes, as sharp as they are, missed the strike, only seeing the hunter in front fall, blood suddenly spewing from his newly broken nose, cursing and shouting in shock. The other hunters staggered back, just as shocked as the one in the lead, losing their nerve and turning to dash away. In a swift flirt of feathers, the avi-man launched forward, his powerful wings and fists knocking the other hunters unconscious, possibly fracturing sculls and potentially causing some to die.
When all the hunters lay motionlessly at his feet, he paused, not even out of breath. A blur of movement in the corner of my eye caught my attention, and I looked over to see Dusk dive down towards the shadowy figure below us. I dove down with her, eyes locked onto the man again, realizing that he had looked up with an expression of pure wonder, his dark blue eyes wide and innocent as a child's.
I let myself free fall for a few seconds, dropping like a rock, then my wings shot out and I felt the air cushion my feathers, and I slowed until I was only a foot off the ground, and I flapped once, to show off a bit, then I let my feet touch the ground and straightened my t-shirt, glad that it was tight enough to not rise up and show most of my torso while flying. I look up at the man, his eyes locked on my wings, then shifting to dusk behind me.
That's when he spoke, his voice deep with a slight accent, and the barest hint of a tremble; "I've never seen another person like me... How.. how is it possible that you two exist?"
I said nothing as I checked him out, his lean body was almost hidden under the ragged oversized trench coat he sported, a thick and equally ragged winter coat underneath, zipped up. His jeans were tattered and showed pale skin benieth them in places where holes were ripped, and he had no shoes on, like me. His wings stretched slightly, bringing my attention to them, and their color was so deeply black, it had hints of purple and blue shining in the soft folds. I focused back on his face, almost child-like in the wonder heals there, although he was looking slightly uncomfortable at being scrutinized. I glanced at Dusk, and she gave a slight nod, just a twitch of her head, and I smiled slightly, looking back.
"Where did you learn to fight?" My voice was loud in the uncomfortable silence, and the discomfort vanished from the man's face, once again he looked like a child in his awe.
"I... I taught myself." He whispered, then straightened up, blinking to focus and he smirked slightly. "I've never seen other angels, just pets. I've had to fight to keep what's mine, food, land, my life. The usual stuff. And the peasants make it hard on me. I've had to move around a lot, so I see a lot of crap." His voice was confident, but the slight twitch of his eyes gave away his discomfort.
I nod for his benefit, then look back at Dusk. Her eyes were narrowed slightly, but her expression was impossible to read. It reminded me of our practice sessions, and I realized her guard was up. It made me curious of the stranger, but also more wary, though I didn't show it. I looked back at him and smiled as friendly as I could, offering my hand. "I'm Mia, nice to meet you. This is Dusk, she is a friend of mine."
He didn't take my hand, but his unreadable eyes flicker from me to dusk, then back. He seemed to be releasing the situation for a moment and then a smirk breaks across his face once more. "Adam, my name is Adam."
