ELINA'S POV

Waking up with a smile used to make my day great. But today I can't bring myself to smile , all I felt was emptiness inside me , I can feel my wolf mourning for her mate. Thinking about my mate always made me feel terrible, he was so innocent.

My mind was telling me to forget him but my heart is not ready to forget everything that had happened . I am still ready to  live my life because I believe  the goddess would never do injustice to her followers.

But it would take me some time to heal , Till then I have to keep my identity a secret.

For the first time I realized  I was away from my home I looked around my new surroundings it barely felt homely.

I thought of the Alpha whom I met in the temple , he was very kind to me , I had always thought that the alphas hated rouges. I was very much overwhelmed with Alpha Gabriel's kindness yesterday .

I remembered him telling me to start a new life in this pack, and that's exactly what I'm gonna do Start a new life.

The rumbling of my stomach interrupted my thoughts. I don't remember what I had eaten last but I knew one thing for sure that I was hungry .

I got up from the bed and went into the toilet. I saw my reflection in the mirror, my eyes were dull, the shine it used to hold was no more to be found. I washed my face with the cold water.

I heard a knock at the door. I went in the direction of the door.

I opened the door, there stood a girl in her teens. She had clothes in her hand, had aura of a low ranked wolf.

"Hi I'm Zena, I bought clothes for you " she said. I thanked her and took the clothes from her.

"Do you want my help with anything " she asked expecting I would say yes.

"No thank you "I smiled at her. I thought she was going to leave. But then her expression changed as if she remembered something important.

"I almost forgot, actually I came to tell you that you will be having breakfast with the alpha in his study " she said.

"You can get ready, I will wait here " with that said she sat on the bed and began typing on her phone. Teenagers, I thought. I went to take a shower.

After showering, I wrapped a towel around me. I stood in front of the mirror, my face was less paler than before. I dressed myself in the crop top and  jeans that Zena had bought. I looked one last time in the mirror before coming out of the bathroom.

Zena stood up when she saw me. "Let's go and meet the alpha" she said enthusiastically. I followed behind her.
The architecture on the hallway of the pack house got my breath, the sight was simple yet beautiful. The lights coming from the glass windows illuminated the paintings on the wall. The paintings had a lively effect to it.
I was amazed with the paintings but from a certain point the simple abstract paintings were now replaced with the portraits of late Alphas and Lunas

But one of the portrait got my attention. Zena must have realized that I wasn't following her, she came to stand beside me.

"This painting is of queen Cassandra , it was done by late beta". she must have read the question in my eyes.
"But how come he got into the palace." I asked curiously. She looked at me with pride in her eyes.
"This painting was done when the queen was in our pack and that was about 60 years ago" I was baffled "don't tell me she visited this pack after stepping down the throne". It was against the rule to leave the palace once a queen steps down from her position, even if she tried the guards would have stopped her.
I could see hesitation in her eyes, as if she was scared of disclosing a secret.
"I wouldn't be disclosing this to you if you weren't going to be a member of this pack" I smiled at her hinting her to go on.

"Actually her highness had stayed in our pack" she finally said.
My reaction proved contrary to her expectations, the shock on my face probably made her regret telling me.
I calmed myself and asked "did you know why the late queen stayed in this pack"
"I don't know anything about that" she said not wanting disclose anymore secrets and began walking , l followed close behind her.

But my mind started to wander around about what I had just learned. I was really confused as to why a queen would leave the comforts of Silver palace, a place where the kings and queens who have stepped down the thrones had to spent the rest of their life. Even if one of them goes missing it would have been notified to the ruling queen. Unless....... I gasped stopping dead in my tracks No this can't be true.

Sorry for the late update guys. Again sorry cutting the chapter short.
